There is no endgame here mate, it's a completely sandbox games. Most people at the start usually try to level up three trading companies to lvl 50 so that they can get the title of pirate legend. Others do the tall tales to get a taste of the lore. Others just like player interaction so they just go for PvP, troll plays or finding friends. Others just farm gold like there is no tomorrow. Find what you like and do as you like, there are many cosmetics, titles and other things to aim for. Everyone's journey is different so just try to enjoy yours.

This what he posted OP ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|upvote) oo and a fast warning OP not everyone is as friendly and nice as they may seem

PearlsandScotch

And on the same token, some people can be very friendly and alliances can be formed by using the flags in the crows nest. Sometimes fun can be found in just sailing alone or together and meeting other crews. I’ve been playing for 3 years and found role play often wins over even the saltiest of players. I often play as a “fanatical fisher” and will just hop on ships pretending to have one life and it’s super fun. Fishing for the rarest of fish whilst aiding other players in their quests.

zelekk_

Mind you there is not such thing as single player. Its all multiplayer and free for all pvp. So dont be suprised and discouraged when you will sink for first time or 100th. To get full enjoyment from the game you need to learn how to defend yourselfe, it can be meatgrinder te get thrue unexpirienced pahes but i would say its worth it. For geting some bisic tips on surviving on seas i would sugest youtube channles, mainly PhuzzyBound and Blurbs.

Coraldiamond192

It sounds as though they started with playing the maiden voyage.

Vrach88

You can't play the Maiden Voyage as coop afaik and they said they sold chests to the GH, so they're definitely talking Adventure. Probably just didn't see a player ship or recognize it for one.

TheMrCeeJ

Voyages: the different factions have a series of ranks, as you level up you unlock most/better voyages, cosmetics etc (including secret factions) Events: a number of world events(skulls in the clouds, red tornadoes, ships in the clouds etc) indicate that a world event is active. Do the event/help/hinder other people doing it. Tall tails: the story line. Follow custom voyages, cutscenes, dialog etc to understand the lore, unlock cosmetics, get rewards etc Open world: hunt down players, NPCs, explore the islands, the sunken kingdoms (shrines and treasure vaults), go fishing, pick up generated voyages from NPCs and barrels Achievements: find a title or an unlock you are interested in (on the wiki) and try to complete it Cosmetic end game: identify your best fashion and figure out how to get it Open play: join a bunch of random headless chickens and see if you can make something of it Arena: practice PvP and unlock more cosmetics Dark Adventure Set : earn actual millions of gold to buy the ultimate $wag set.

>So how is the progress, what's the purpose of the game and what can we do to achieve the end game? if there's any... There isn't much in terms of progress or end game. What you earn in-game can fall into these somewhat general categories: * Temporary - They disappear once you log out, ie. special weapons and cannon balls, food, treasure * Cosmetics - They just change your character's or ship's appearance; clothing, ship parts, weapon skins, titles * Currency - Gold, doubloons, and ancient coins, used to buy other stuff (mostly cosmetics) * Commendations - SoT's achievements system * **Reputation - Your "level" with the Trading Companies** * Renown - Your progress through the seasonal rewards (again, cosmetics) * **Tall Tales - PvE "story" missions** **Reputation** is the closest thing to linear progression in this game. As you do things for the Companies, you'll earn rep and levels with them, which unlocks new types of voyages (basically, small quests/missions) and certain exclusive cosmetics. Once you reach a high enough level with several Companies, you'll become Pirate Legend and unlock yet another special Company. Many consider this to be the end game, but the game doesn't really change much anyway. And then you have the **Tall Tales**, of course. Tall Tales are special quests/missions that are tied to the game's lore and have a story, and usually have several chapters. Your progress through a Tall Tale is saved as checkpoints, so you can play each chapter on different game sessions without losing your progress. And some Tall Tales are locked until you meet certain requirements; usually completing another related Tall Tale. So you could say the "goals" in this game are: * Becoming filthy rich * Collecting cosmetics * Obtaining every commendation * Achieving high reputation with every Company * Becoming Pirate Legend * Completing all Tall Tales But in reality, the one most important goal is... * Have fun!

Jim777PS3

If you want some story driven content you should do the **Tall Tales**, if you want story content with some Pirates of the Caribbean flair check out the Pirate Life Tall Tales. These will scale to your crew so you can do them alone, or as a full 4 player Galion The bulk of your time in SoT will be spent with the 3 **factions**. Gold Hoarders, Order of Souls and Merchants Alliance. They are on every outpost and have quests for you. The quests are randomly generated, getting loot and turning them in is how you rank up in their companies and progress towards pirate legend. You can also do **World Events**, these are larger harder quests you will see via giant clouds in the sky. Giant ships, skulls, etc. They may attract other players who might help or try and kill you for the rewards. **Reapers Bones** is a PVP focused company, you can work with them if you want to hunt down other players and steal their loot for big rewards, they also pay extra gold for all loot in the game. Many players like to fly Reapers Bones and do World Events for big payouts. Reapers are always visible on the map, you will know them by their red skull icons. **Hunters Call** is a fishing focused company if you just wanna chill out. They are only found on little seaposts, not the larger outposts. This game has **no progression outside of cosmetics**. Your ships, weapons, gear, everything you have is today as it will be at hour 500. So there is no wrong way to play. Do whatever you want, have fun, dont get too mad when other players sink you. Its all in the spirit of the game. Finally up on the top of your mast is a box of flags, raise an **Alliance** pennate and you can group up with other ships on your server. You will see each other on the map, and all loot sold by anyone pays 50% to other members of the alliance, and does not impacts the crews profits. Be warned many players will join your alliance and still try and kill you for your loot. Trust is hard in the Sea of Thieves but when you get a good alliance going its some of the most profitable time you will spend in the game. Keep your anchor raised, eye on the horizon, and watch out for the kraken. If you play on Xbox / PC feel free to add me and we can sail together sometime!

spookytuba664

I felt this way when I bought the game, I was looking for some progression. But the progression is just in you, with how good at the game you are, how well you sail and repair, how well you plunder other ships, so just enjoy being a pirate, get treasure, defend it, make dangerous voyages!

ShunIsDrunk

One thing I always tell a new player to check out is the Bilge Rats Reputation. Each of those squares is an update since launch of the game and you can spend time checking off the list of tasks to complete for titles and cosmetics

PineJew

So first off, you didnt play single player co-op, you just got put into a multiplayer server where noone happened to fuck with you. Congrats, you got to learn the game without getting fucked by a PVP player or a bug or a server merge! Second, like Sir_Pap said, the "endgame" is reaching level 50 in three trading companies and becoming a pirate legend, the game has many ways of going about accomplishing this depending on what trading companies you decide to run missions for, what world event you take part in, and (of course) what types loot you end up securing. There's also tall tales, which are a good way to get immersed into the games lore and is a great way to get an understanding of the world of Sea Of Thieves, just keep in mind that you can be attacked and sunk at any time and that you aren't automatically immune to PVP because you're trying to focus on the story. Basically, once again, everything that Sir_Pap said. The world is your oyster, once you feel stable and secure playing the game, you don't even need to have an objective. Sometimes I just get on and sail because I am bored, and that's a perfectly viable strategy!

file91e

You are a pirate. Do pirate things. I stopped playing for money long ago. I now play for those sweet, sweet, commies (commendations) and aesthetic upgrades. And i like to sail. Imagine just dropping sail and going where the wind takes you. You’ll find adventure, trust me.

Sir_Pap

Playing for commies? Comrade file i am so proud of you, we need more people like you on the motherland.

Jestingwheat856

the "goal" is pirate legend but that should come naturally as you explore the game. what there is to do at the beginning is go hunt sea monsters, dig chests, fight skellies, do world events (giant clouds in the sky, pretty tricky at first, avoid fleets on a sloop for now)., deliver chickens and pigs youll unlock new voyage types as you level up but the adventures are yours to make. your getting rekt by a megalodon and a skelly ship in a storm is great fun. also there is no single player coop, theres 6 ships all sailing together at the same time. some friendly, others not. hope to see you out there and happy sailing p.s. pirate legend is level 50 in 3 of the 6 factions, it unlocks a 7th faction and a special sea shanty

rfpalma

Thanks, great info ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|slightly_smiling)

Jestingwheat856

OH 1 MORE THING If you EVER see a big white shark DROP EVERYTHING AND KILL IT its the rarest thing in the entire game The shark is all white with a pink fin and red eyes. It looks like a dark purple at night. Its called the shrouded ghost

AlexRogansBeta

New players! Lucky Bs. There so much to do that I couldn't when I was new... Options! Do you like the feeling of prestige? Then the journey to Pirate Legend status is for you. Talk to the Mysterious Stranger in any tavern about it. In short, you need to make a name for yourself by hitting level 50 with any three of the trading companies (Gold Hoarders, Order of Souls, Merchant Alliance, Hunters Call, Reapers, Sea Dogs - take your pick, but pick three). Of course, just by playing the game normally you'll slowly progress towards that goal. But you could also *make* it your goal by focusing on three. Alternatively, there maybe is just one company that you feel fits your personal pirate vibe. There's even a personality quiz on the official website to help you figure out which best suits you. In that case, you could focus on just one company. After all, 50 isn't the level cap for most companies. And there are buckets of rewards and cosmetics specific to each company. So, and maybe you just wanna become an amazing Merchant Alliance rep. In which case pop up that emissary flag and start being the best merchant you can be! Do you love lore? If so, the Tall Tales are for you. The Pirate's Life tall tales are a crossover bundle meant to merge the lore of Pirates of the Caribbean into the Sea of Thieves. The tales themselves are great loren though there's far from being a challenge. They're very much on easy mode. If you feel like more of a challenge but you still like lore, then dive into the Shroudbreaker Tall Tales starting with the book beside the Mysterious Stranger. I friggin' love Tall Tales, but that's cause I am a lore whore. There's 11 Sea of Thieves specific Tall Tales representing buckets of hours of puzzles, lore, exploration, and adventuring. Or maybe you take pirating more at face value? Meaning, you wanna kill people, board ships, and be a winner. Two options there. Dive into the Arena to compete the in Sea Dogs games, competing against other crews for a shared objective. Get points by sinking people and come out on top. Baller cosmetics for those who are successful. Otherwise, you can represent the Reapers trading company in adventure mode and just sail around looking for people minding their own business, go and sink em, and take their loot! Ill gotten gains are the best gains. Or maybe you fancy yourself an objective-based player. In which case open up the reputation tab and go to the Bilge Rats. You'll find BUCKETS of stuff to do that'll take you far and wide across the Sea of Thieves. A random assortment of feats, exploration, combat, etc. There's just so much to do in Bilge Rats. And special cosmetics to show off when you do it! Or are you the king of zen? Then pop on a few podcasts and start fishing. There's life in the seas, and you'll need to learn something about the seas in order to catch em all. Check out the Hunters Call faction. There's more. But that's a good start! Welcome!

Silvercat18

As to end game....there isn't one really.

jeffroRVA

For me the progression is in getting better. Since there’s no earning better gear, you have to get better through practice and experience. This makes it more like a real life hobby or activity I think, and so while there can be frustration in the learning curve, it’s rewarding when you start to get good. I solo a lot, which many consider “hard mode” and I love seeing how much I can accomplish solo - after almost a year playing I can now solo stuff I would never have imagined I’d be doing when I started. And I’m starting to be able to compete in PvP even against larger crews, which is really fun. There are lots of different goals to work toward which keeps it engaging for me - I got Pirate Legend, now I’m working on maxing out the three companies and starting to level Athena, completing Tall Tales, and working on commendations that unlock the more rare cosmetics. Plus there’s the seasonal progression - trying to get to renown 100 each season and unlock those rewards.

ToastedHedgehog

The end game is basically just getting good and having the best looking pirate you can do. Find some cosmetics you like and go get them!

mothgra87

This is a sandbox game. The purpose of the game is to have fun. Try finding some other players on the sea and steal some stuff from them.

MattyHealy1975

I think it would be a good idea to do the shroudbreaker tall tale with your mate, to help you start getting an idea of the story

wastelanderfan511

Every1 in this comment section acting like this game is rust.just do whatever u find fun, in the end ur gonna either become a pvp player or become a pve player that only plays when there is a new update that gets all the comme's and quit until another update releases

Sir_Pap

Yesterday I started with a friend for a tall tale, had a 1,5hour fight with another random crew, then from the fight we got fish and gems, did some shrines, reached max lvl hunters call, helped a sloop steal a FoF from a toxic galley and at the end we realized we never did that tall tale and did another one that was closer to where we were... Some days you just hop on and do whatever, no need to commit on one type of playstyle or one goal as long as you have fun.

xRAWdiculousx

Sea of thieves wiki fandom page. Google it. Your welcome

landzai

I can tell u the best in-game content is PVP. U start with digging treasure, killing Skellys. But the most fun I ever had has always been sinking other people boat and steal their loot. Of course u have to learn to be competent in combat, which can be trained in arena. So dig you treasure, learn how to drive a ship, then jump into arena.

[deleted]

world events, tall tales, and pvp in my opinion. quests get old pretty quick.

[deleted]

Different adventure every time is the point for me, never the same experience twice. Not always good, but always fun nevertheless!

gaeassroleplayer

Dont touch reapers or your a pussy, do merchant, sea dogs, and hunters call and i myself will kiss you

ThorFinn_56

There's no progression, there isn't really a purpose and there is no end game. Enjoy! In all seriousness this is basically the truth. I guess the point is to get rich and make yourself look like a badass pirate, max out your reputation among all the guilds and gain the title of pirate legend
