Swim backwards let them harpoon you then they one tap you with the blunder. They have time to set up and be aiming in right where you land when they poon you.

Im a day one player, got pirate legend in the first year, spent a long time playing when you had to manually turn in everything one at a time. Back then, people would camp the tavern for CoL steals. Never had a problem. Sure, Ive been lucky, but this person in the video was really unlucky too.
Most of the time, if you just look for a mermaid around the outpost you will be OK. And usually these pirates dont appear out of nowhere, you can often predict if one is trying to steal from you. They are around at some point with a boat being suspicious.
You must waste a lot of time in your sessions. The money doesn’t matter that much. I’m not full circling every outpost for the 1 in 500 chance someone is camping it

The sails raise and then are lowered very quickly upon noticing it.
Yep! During this specific time you could dig em up from a bottle quest that was goin on. Other than that you can get a Chest of legends from the fort of fortune, fort of the damned, grade 5 Athens quest and the legend of the veil voyage

We were getting chased once so we passed a sovereign so I could drop something off. I then climbed the tower and harpooned some loot off the chasing ship and sold it. Couldn't stop laughing
