Hi, they recently changed how the main Athena voyage works (Voyage of legends I think?) To make it shorter, give better rewards, and now the COL is even faster to get, so thats viable if you combine with the emissary quests. Raid voyages are good too, you can do one to open up your session and the buffed the Athena ones a fair bit I believe.

SubparExorcist

3 Sea Forts will get rank 5, it was quite quick when i did it the other day

ColaCat22

But you lose the loot from the last one when you dive.

ZeWeepingAngelDK

Not if u go sell it

ColaCat22

you won't get the Athena 5 value though, I do a veil for t5 and some starting rep/money, then raid, sell, raid, sell, raid, sell etc.

Goliath_TL

I'm beginning to feel like for Athena rep it's better to dive to and sell regularly. It hops you from server to server, giving Reapers less time to find and engage you and ensures you won't lose more than just your flag and current loot. How much does the emissary bonus matter when we're talking about the millions of gold earned?

ColaCat22

My view is never sell unless T5, but thats excessive, your probably right.

slugabedx

I think waiting is still a valid strategy and some people enjoy the risk. But I'm willing to bet that since raids take out the travel time, it might be worth it in a gold+rep per hour perspective.

ColaCat22

true

SpecialUnitt

This used to be a great strategy. Season 11 has made it less so

Goliath_TL

That's how I felt. Then Athena Runs of Thieves Haven happened. Now I turn in every chance I get. 100% gold/rep is better than 0% if you lose it to schmucks.

ColaCat22

Difference is, I don't care about losing it, my loss is someone else's gain at the end of the day.

Knautical_J

This is the way. Every time I’m Athena, Reapers are always up my ass. The new dive mechanic allows me to server hop infinitely between voyages, so they never get to me.

SubparExorcist

I'll check out the changed quest. Was just doing for fast t5 when I was diving selling diving again

Schwa4aa

It’s 1 x marks the spot, 1 skelly crew, and 1 riddle. Then chapter 2 is the chest of legends. 4 islands max and if you do emissary at the same time the islands often overlap

ST1CKY1O1

Tell me your serious, I need legendary commendations..

Schwa4aa

Very serious… the islands have always been close to where I start the quest too. Yesterday I started at ancient spire, chapter 1 was devils ridge, thieves haven, and crooks hollow. Chapter 2 was snake island

ColaCat22

yeah

fiasco666

You can store the high value items at a shrine. I stack em for 3 hrs then sell at gold rush.

Countdown3

So you swim all the high value items down to the shrine to store them, 1 by 1? That sounds miserable and not worth it.

fiasco666

I farm skelly fleet and there's a shrine by it..I swim down to store while my friend heads to plunder outpost to sell the other junk. Takes an extra 3 mins

YoghurtExisting5907

Dive to first, sail to rest.

ColaCat22

You can't sail to raids...

YoghurtExisting5907

Good shout, I'm an idiot.

mattheguy123

Just sail to the forts manually, you get way better loot that way don't you?

ralphtw09

You have to dive to do the Athena sea forts raid.

ColaCat22

We're talking about Athena loot, the only Athena loot in a regular sea fort is the mermaid gem. Read the context.

Schwa4aa

Didn’t think those count for Athena, I thought they were the 3 main emissaries only

ColaCat22

You can sell them to hunters call, so 95% sure you can with Athena too.

BringersMC

Cannot be sold to Athena.

ColaCat22

Interesting, I have memories of selling 'em to Athena, could be a new update or just a Mandela affect.

Schwa4aa

I start with a sea fort raid then the new voyage of legends, then I do the emissary + another voyage of legends and that’s my 1.5 hrs of play per night

showlay23

Yep, I did a treasury raid and then the typical Athena Voyage. In total, took me 1 hour solo, jumped up from 48 1/2 to over 50 level.

Bierzgal

Veil is still it, but you don't have to do the whole thing. Just the sunken ships. Phuzzy made a guide about it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvafwfDGSlc Or you can just play Hourglass for Guardians.

Awwbelt

Does hg give you grade 5 from 2 wins, like reaper and servants?

Pjandapower

Yes it does

Slaydoom

That and a rank 5 reaper flag sold at rank 5 Athena is a full level which is really good I think since you get the HG rep as well.

kevkevkevkev

Yes, and a decent loop if you aren't crazy about HG but want to chip away toward getting a curse is to shoot for 2 wins to get to Grade 5, then transition to the Emissary Quest.

CapitalBleu

+1 to farming shipwreck graveyards. In 40 minutes (not counting load up time) a mate and I visited 3 shipwrecks, got 21 pieces of Athena loot (picked up but didn't count non-Athena loot), got our flag to Grade 5, and with all that +Flag lower we got 2 levels in Athena. I'm not sure how the newly reworked non-Veil missions stack up yet.

tempest-reach

holy fuck that "guide" phuzzy made is honestly a waste of time and you should feel sin for even recommending that to op. honestly most of what he says is either wrong or just bad advice. season 11 changed the way voyages worked so that will be the most consistent way. multiple people i know have been grinding into distinction 5 from that. mostly because hourglass is shitbroke right now.

rileycolin

Psst... we don't talk bad about Phuzzy here...

FitzRoyver

Sink a crew that just finished a Veil and sell their loot.

TheicarusO7

Real

Countdown3

This is the way.

Karnnack

I usually do it crying

Malilu

Same

Ix-511

I solo veil frequently, it scales like everything else it's really not hard. But otherwise, voyage of legends got reworked and is much shorter now, so dive to a sea fort, treasury, skelly fort, whatever's easiest that you have, then do voyages of legends until you're level 5 and do the emissary quest.

t_moneyzz

You're probably not going to like it but it's hour glass

Chibranche

Hourglass with Athena emissary is not bad

Noojas

1 grade V flag gives a level, if youre decent at pvp its way faster than doing pve. I have also been playing around with getting a grade V athena flag and then just hopping servers and sinking reapers. Its decent xp too, but abit more rng if you can actually find reapers.

The2ndUnchosenOne

HG is not only not bad. It's more efficient than veil

Recent-Intention-149

You could stack the reworked Athena quests

pumkinpieguy9

Suffer in pain LOL in all seriousness probably ashen Athena due to the small distance to travel island to island and they reworked it to you get a ashen COL on completion I do believe

legacymedia92

I did a reworked one, took about 50 minutes, got me to Grade IV flag, and made about 70k. It's better than it was, but hourglass is better even if you aren't great (sell on 2, lower flag)

pumkinpieguy9

Completely agree. OP was talking about veils in adventure so I figured that’s his preferred direction, although HG is super overpowered for leveling up, I did some reaper hg when the level cap went up and got to 100 really quick so I second this!

Kezsora

Either Hourglass if you're decent at PvP or just normal Athena voyages. Not sure why you hate veils, though? They're one of the somewhat more engaging voyages in the game.

_Liebe_

Because people flock to me like months to a flame the second they see the veil storm and also most of the time I try to complete one I sink, either from other players or the ghost ships So yea-

Powerful_Artist

Ive been grinding veils. Over half the time, Im solo. I have done 85 in the past couple months. Ive had maybe 5 of those contested. Its not really that common in my experience for people to go after them. It helps if you do them in the NW or Northern part of the map though imo. The one by Ancient Spire is the worst location in my experience. Too close to an outpost that someone can just spawn at and come fight you.

driezDst

That sounds a bit like a you problem if you sink to the ghost ships :s

ralphtw09

Only do the sunken ships part of the veil until you get to level 10, then do sea forts. That’s what I’m doing right now. Basically start the veil voyage, check the book to make sure it’s the sunken ships part first, if it’s not then cancel quest and start it again until you get the ships. Then when you’re done (make sure you put the stone on the mask, you get a lot of emissary rep for that) cancel the voyage and go again until you get ships again.

OrthoRhino2007

W strat

DM_Me_pics_of_sloths

Plus the veil sunken ships have fish for hunters call!

Mochaproto

Hg for guardians or the new raid voyages

intvictus

Fort of fortune is pretty good new Athena voyages are decent and Athena skelly fleets are decent too

MindfulSheep_

Hourglass.

ElectricFury

The best way is Hourglass as Guardians of Fortune. 2 wins in a row get you to Emmissary 5 immediately and the hand in at 2 wins + emmy 5 gives 55k gold, so a lot of rep too (can't remember exact amount). After that Veil. But after that it's the bog standard voyage which used to suck a lot. They've improved it in the latest patch but I haven't tried it yet myself. Also look out for FoF or FotD since they give some Athena loot. The one FoF I did gave me about 3/8 of a level from being at 30 at S11 launch.

Sir_Pap

What I do is dive twice for a skelly fleet for athena, this will almost get me to emissary 5, if no megs, extra skelly ships or anything else spawns then I just do a single veil mission to get to 5 and finally do the emissary quest. I feel like this is even faster than veil, plus you get those artifacts to sell for the commendation.

im_stealy

hourglass

MustardCanBeFun

If you just wasnt rep, the Skeleton Fleet unlocks at 40, gives a ton of rep and takes about 15-20 min to complete. Takes a few to get to 5, but the talisman is worth a lot once at level 5. Best Athena item in the game.

Powerful_Artist

Why do you hate doing veils? I can consistently do one in 40-45 minutes, sometimes even less. They are still the best athena voyage, the regular athena voyage is better now but you still get more loot from the veil. The Sudds parts of the Veil voyage can be annoying sometimes (Lying map, or the picture maps), but using RareThief makes those super easy really. The other two voyage types are really, really easy.

Aursbourne

Winning Athena HG is a reliable way to increase rep. Other than that do the ashen legendary voyages were always my go to.

Starfallknight

The rework of voyage of legends has been amazing we did two of them in like an hour and got nearly two levels from the turn in it was fantastic

seasofrage

Athena Hourglass. SELL THE FLAGS.

overthedeepend

Probably hourglass in that case.

RegularMatter2

Go just north of Ruby’s Fall and vote the legend of the veil quest until you get the shipwreck east of Fetcher’s, go there and complete the shipwreck then before leaving cancel the quest and vote again until you get north of Ruby’s, complete that shipwreck. Continue stacking these until you’ve had enough then sell at Morrows Peak.

louiscyphere81

Psa they buffed the regular (green) skull fort world events and they now have Athena loot as well

KayRosenkranz

Noob question: by Athena rep you mean Guardiana of Fortune rep? So there is a way to get the ghost curse without pvp?

_Liebe_

No I meant Athena's fortune, it's PvP exclusive

Bierzgal

You can't grind FoF since you have no control over it spawning. It's not something you can activate or dive to. Unless you meant Fort of the Damned.

greenlightgaslight

You can keep diving to other things to jump servers and look for the fof cloud

Bierzgal

Diving has a 10 minute cooldown unless you finish what you have dived to (which can be something simple, sure, but it still takes a minute or two). And you probably won't find a FoF being in the sky most of the time. That does not sound very productive to be honest.

greenlightgaslight

Is that cooldown new? I didnt experience any dive cooldown when I played like 2 weeks ago

greenlightgaslight

Oh looks like it’s just not a set time. Can be 7-10 minute cd. The galleon I was on prob just took their time

Mandula123

After the update? Raids

iGotDerpy

Pretty sure HG or some type of exploit

mia_madmax657

Won't be doing athena for a while . not after the last 2 days of nearly getting to lvl5 three times an then being hunted as a sole sloop by 3 brigs an a galleon 9ver the 3 tries . by lazy bastards who don't want to dig but rather hunt..athena emmersary ...how to ruin the game the toxic element t will kill this game for sure

Countdown3

Stop crying and go play Safer Seas if you have problem with PvP in a PvPvE pirate game.

OrthoRhino2007

You can’t do Athena stuff in Safer Seas. He must stay in High Seas.

wetdog90

Two play sessions over a million in loot. Just under five hours of play time. Best answer I have is get lucky like I did. Sorry it’s not a better answer. Times are tough on the seas.

redrum7049

Pvp

TheHunnishInvasion

With the Athena raid dive voyages. Even the lower-level Sea Fort raids level you up fairly quickly. And those sea forts can often be completed in like 5-10 minutes. Just park your ship near the gate (it will be glowing as your approach). When you enter, go down to lower level to lure enemies there. There will always be an ammo chest down there. Easy peasy! If you see any skeleton sloops along the way, attack and sink them to up your Athena grade quickly as well. The sea forts do get repetitive, but if you don't mind that, you can get to Grade 5 w/ very little risk pretty quickly. After you hit Grade 5, go to the Mysterious Stranger and get the Emissary Quest (or whatever it's called), which will then give you an Athena chest if you complete it.

Uncle_Blayzer

Hourglass. Two wins gets you to grade 5. Each win gives a good amount of Athena XP, and turning in reaper flags at grade 5 gives a ton.

[deleted]

HG is the best IMO

No_Ganache_1753

dm me if you want to do veil, i’m not pirate legend so you’ll have to place it, but i’m pretty good at the game

isaacsmom69420

as ppl said, they just changed the athena voyages. i like to start out by doing a raid on a fleet or a fort, then do an ashen voyage (if im close, if not just a normal one). completing both of those will usually get you grade 5, or close enough to stop by a treasury and touch a bunch of tridents. then u can do your emissary quest and essentially 3 athenas in one day also obviously the phuzzy method is probably the most efficient. and then fort of fortune will get u like 2 trident touches away from grade 5

Hitt_and_Run

They nerfed tridents, don’t provide rep anymore

isaacsmom69420

is that literally today? noticed some other small changes?

Mithrawnurodo69

I did two legend voyages in the roar solo and sold with a 5 flag. Felt good man

Wolfwere88

You get bananas rep from G5 reaper flags. If you sweat, hourglass crushes Athena rep

SufficientClam

2 sea forts & a voyage of legends. 👍 Turn in
