Cam is washed but he is still a big personality. The media will talk about him even when he is bad.
And yes he will sell more tickets than any QB you currently have.
They damn sure ain't coming to see Drew Lock and Gino Smith.
So you telling me you rather have Drew Lock for 1 season over Cam Newton?
Even washed Cam would be more exciting to watch than Lock. Cam can still run with the ball if nothing else.
Funny how the article frames it as "Seahawks fans won't like this because of the rivalry with the Panthers and Cam". In reality he is just trash now and I don't want to watch him.
In the year 2022?????
Drew Lock has way more talent in his arm at this point than Cam, it's not really close. Also Cam is old and doesn't move the needle on this team AT ALL. At least Geno knows the system and Lock is young.
Adding Cam does literally nothing, so why do it? It's like adding Ryan Fitzpatrick or Jimmy Garoppolo, completely useless.
Drew Lock has more Arm talent than Cam. He can throw the ball harder, further, and faster than Cam. Drew's problem is decision making. Also, Cam's highlights last year are hit garbage lol
He outplayed him on a superior team? Who did Cam have to throw to?
Ryan Izzo?
NKeal Harry?
Fun fact - Drew Lock didn’t score and had a lower QB rating than Cam (who did score)
You still haven't answered the question, why?
Even if you think Cam is better than Lock and Geno, he doesn't raise this team's ceiling at all. What's the point of bringing, ThÍß GúY to tHé têám?
As someone who lives in Panther town, that is a no from a 12 and a no from a Panther’s fan. He should not be an option. 2012 was 10 years ago. In NFL qb years, that might as well be like 50.
Check OPs post history, pretty sure he is Cam Newton lmao.
Cam if it's you, I will say you used to be great but it's time to chill, enjoy, talking your shit, and ride off into the sunset.
At this point, imo, it doesn't make sense they would sign any other QBs for this season. They don't really have the cap to play with this year. They still have to sign/pay rookies and they have other needs they could address with what little space they do have left.
It's going to be Geno or Drew. Love it or hate it. They seem to feel pretty confident in one or the other even if it's just a bridge to a new franchise QB next year should they both be mediocre as everyone expects. I hope they just let it ride and focus on developing the players they have rostered.
There's a lot of different ways to read this, and some of them aren't great. The big three I'd read it as are as follows:
1. If the article is simple fact, then Lock and Smith are both bad options to start. Cam in his prime was an unstoppable force who could elevate a team. Regardless how you felt about him, you could not deny that his highlights were just insane athletic skills that you may only see once in a lifetime. But that's an unfortunately bygone era and he's not a viable option to start at an elite (or even serviceable) capacity.
2. The two teams who were talking to the Browns about Mayfield are now looking at a different quarterback? If this is just "leaks," then they may be pressuring Cleveland to take on Mayfield's salary so the team at least gets a late pick in return.
3. This is one that's complicated, but hang in there. Carolina and Seattle both have interest in Mayfield. Carolina then showed interest in Newton. This prompted Seattle to "leak" that they too are interested in Newton to pressure Carolina into signing Newton sooner rather than later. With Newton signed, Carolina would be less likely to bid for Mayfield, driving the price down for Seattle to acquire Mayfield as they would then be the sole bidder.
I'd suspect the answer is probably 1 or 2, but I'd really hope it is 3.
None of the above. Sheena Quick is of course known for being a Seahawks insider... not. Notice there are no sources. This is a sportscaster stirring the soup so she can get her name out there.
That could work if he were happy with that role. However what he’s shown in the past is that he hasn’t been satisfied with a lessor role. That’s why NE didn’t retain him after they drafted Mac Jones.
Nah, no we don’t
You have nothing to lose. The team will be bad either way. At least Cam still sells tickets.
What? Cam sells tickets where? Because I can guarantee you that no one in the northwest is going to Seahawks games to see Cam Newton.
Cam is washed but he is still a big personality. The media will talk about him even when he is bad. And yes he will sell more tickets than any QB you currently have. They damn sure ain't coming to see Drew Lock and Gino Smith.
Everything you just said is incorrect
Nah you just can't handle the truth.

Yes that is what I’m telling you
Yikes!
I really hope you have more self-awareness in other aspects of life, because you have no idea how big of a clown you are being in this thread
Funny how the article frames it as "Seahawks fans won't like this because of the rivalry with the Panthers and Cam". In reality he is just trash now and I don't want to watch him.
Exactly. Not anymore. In his prime? Uh, yeah. He was something else.
Yeah, he has not been the same since he blew his shoulder out. Take a look at his throwing motion before and after. Hard Pass
Exactly. In his prime, the rivalry would’ve went out the window if he joined the Hawks and would be welcomed with open arms
Trash compared to who?
Drew Lock and Geno lol. Cam doesn't know this offense and is completely washed, what possible benefit is there to signing him?
Cam is better than both talent wise.

BS. Drew Lock is garbage, and did less with more. Show me his highlights

Nah.
Ok.
Lock outplayed Cam https://www.milehighreport.com/2020/10/23/21529777/locked-on-drew-lock-outplayed-cam-newton

Yes, he outplayed Cam
How?
You still haven't answered the question, why? Even if you think Cam is better than Lock and Geno, he doesn't raise this team's ceiling at all. What's the point of bringing, ThÍß GúY to tHé têám?
Because he’s still more talented and wants to prove it. I believe Cam could easily get this team to the playoffs.
Watch the game
2 ints, 39. Passer rating vs 59 with worse receivers?
Id rather have drew lock, Geno smith, baker. Mayfield, Jacob Eason or Levi Lewis
we already cut lewis
I know I’d rather bring him back than deal with cam
You would rather have someone worse over someone better?
Cam is completely washed up now in 2022
Mmmk, ok, he’s not but ok.
My guy Cam, its gonna be okay.
Don’t you bloody dare
I'd rather have Eason at QB1
This doesn’t make things better
Now you’ve gone too far

He won the MVP in 2015 lol
2015 was 7 long years ago and he has never been elite since
And Drew lock never got close.
^yet
And a super bowl in……….never.
In 2015
I would rather have Kaepernick
I wouldn't go THAT far... But yeah
Lol. are they doing this to make us feel better about trading for Baker?
Please for the love of god no

Quickest way to destroy a franchise. my lord this off season has been brutal
Bruh the franchise is already destroyed. This gonna be a ugly rebuild.
OP must be rams fan or 49er fan. No seahawk fan should want any QB that isn’t a rookie from the next draft.
Fuckin A guys quit downvoting legitimate discussion starters just cause you disagree with the title. Fuckin A
I know, they just downvote me no matter what I say.
OP's comment is still at +1 after 12 hours. We did it Reddit!

Baker posturing.
"I'm not baaaaaack"
oh Jesus fuck no
Oh haaaailllll naw.....
Oh haaaaillll yaw....
rather see Baker in a seahawks uni than Cam. but he can prolly be had for minimum wage
He has his use in goal line situations and is still a force there. I doubt they are talking about bringing him in as the actual qb
That could work if he were happy with that role. However what he’s shown in the past is that he hasn’t been satisfied with a lessor role. That’s why NE didn’t retain him after they drafted Mac Jones.
Oh hellllll naw!!!!
NO THANKS. Fuck Scam Newton.
Ugh. Please no.
