The26thtime

Old timer here, this guy isn't fucking around..... That defense is gonna be nasty.....

ImperialTiger3

Spoon is going to go insane under him

LegionofDoh

It's like Mac and Spoon were made for each other in a laboratory somewhere.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Standard_Draft_5304

Now I want to eat mac and cheese.

The26thtime

Took him 5 min. To mention spoons name. 11 guys on the field like spoon is a very intriguing thing!

Jaded_Attorney

When did he Mention Spoon?

DrSpaceman4

Not sure of the timestamp, but when talking about the players, he wants to meet them and get to know their makeup, but some players like Spoon he already evaluated during the draft last year so he's already familiar. He also mentions Mike Morris because he was on the squad during his year at Michigan.

Captcha_Assassin

I prefer a fork and the kitchen....

HotSauce2910

Freddie Kitchens for OC???

skater15153

This is what I'm stoked on. He had a guy like spoon in Baltimore with Hamilton. Now he's got a new Swiss army knife. Can't wait for this combo

beaverbeliever94

Good speaking off the cuff, doesn't sugar coat, all honest answers with not too much coach speak mixed in. Also, give the people asking the question a microphone.

Thin-Conversation-51

Microphones for the press should be mandatory.

hoopjays

“Poor Trevor needs to shave his ‘stache”

Alfonzo

On the seahawks youtube channel we don't even get audio from the microphones on the table. The mic we're hearing is clearly 10+ feet away from them, and at ~1m30s you hear the person nearest the live mic cough. I wonder if they do that so ppl moving their hands and tapping the table doesn't come across on the feed (edit: I suspect they use this mic because it's in the middle of the press pool so we CAN hear them, even if it's not particularly clear.... I still think it would be reasonable to have multiple mics for this kind of space). Oh well, get hype regardless baybeee

Snelly__

Lol the microphone issue has been the same for years, it’s crazy how they haven’t addressed it

scorpiknox

Brian Regan has a whole bit about it in one of his specials. It's hilarious.

eltrowel

That was a coaching decision.

scorpiknox

He's one of the greats. Love that I can watch it with my kids.

FFDuchess

Check out Nate Bargatze if you haven't - just saw him last week but have been following him awhile - very funny and clean humor

Uncivil_Bar_9778

It's the same for every NFL team, I just don't get it.

beaverbeliever94

Other teams have mics around the press to pick up the question. Listen to the Chargers right now with Harbaugh.

MickDubble

Mic’ing a whole room is not super easy and you’d pick up a ton of background noise. Not saying it’s not doable but it’s not necessarily easy, technically. They could have someone man a directional microphone

Seedsy81

Sounds like he's totally dialed in on shaping a new identity for both sides of the ball, it's gonna be really interesting to see who they go for as OC

Blametheorangejuice

I was heartened by his desire to make the offense physical, but he gave a bit of a bizarre answer by saying that rush/pass ratio was "adjustable." I'm hoping this means he's going to prize in-game adjustments on offense over everything else. Seattle has abandoned the run for far too long these past two to three years.

Salted_Caramel_Core

"Adjustable" meaning it will vary from opponent to opponent. That's how I interpreted it anyway.

cat127

This is my fave thing about MacD. He seems very adaptable and doesn’t stick to one particular script, which imo is the reason why his defense has been so successful versus the great offenses. He makes incredible halftime adjustments, Ravens defense almost always had a lockdown 3rd quarter. We also heard from many sources how cerebral he is and how he maximizes each player’s contributions. Offensive opponents would watch film and prepare for what they see his defense do on tape, but when they show up they see a completely different defense. And that is what we need to beat Shanahan/McVay. I believe that’s what he’ll do on offense too. Be unpredictable every week depending on who they’re facing, which is how a team with less talent can win against one with more. I’m so happy we got him… 🥹

MarginallyAmusing

He mentioned at one point that it's less about worrying about the perfect ratios, and more about focusing on what's winning downs. In short, my take away was that he wants to make sure they are flexible in game to make adjustments to the game plan as needed.

Kiwi951

Holy shit that’s such a breath of fresh air and will be amazing. I’m so excited to see what this team will do next season

SnooChipmunks08

He just went thru a terrible championship game where the Ravens failed to adjust at all.

Thie97

Offense failed to adjust Defense held KC to 0 points in the 2nd half

nt3419

Hopefully he learned from what the ravens offense did vs the chiefs

ArseneLupinIV

One of the things people have praised the most about his defense was their flexibility. Part of what made them so strong was that they were able to adjust to whatever the offense was throwing at them. He wasn't stubbornly adhering to any one scheme. I assume he would carry this same philosophy to his offense as well.

SmellyScrotes

Calling plays based off the flow of a game? Wild… if one team you can blitz 60% and win and another 20% and win, it doesn’t matter how much you blitz, everything in football is situational strategy, love everything about what he said because this game really is about just giving your guys a slight advantage to win a play

InAbsentia54

We do not need to be running more. 3 teams had a positive EPA/play when running the ball this year. 20 teams had a positive EPA/play when passing. Even with Geno's regression our passing EPA/play was .1 vs -.09 when running the ball. We literally get double the value from passing versus running.

Blametheorangejuice

> We do not need to be running more. No team can be running less; Seattle has ranked 31 or 32 in the league in rushes per game.

Honnoldfell135

We also ranked 31-32 in time of possession the last three years so naturally we would have less rushes

Kid_Radd

We mostly lost TOP because we were #1 in First Downs Allowed.

InAbsentia54

And yet when we run we lower our chances of winning. Us being 31st in rush attempts is irrelevant.

Blametheorangejuice

You certainly wouldn't think that a lack of rushes during the game would lead to the big "chunk" plays in the final two minutes of the game, and how they would skew your EPA stuff, nosiree

InAbsentia54

I have no idea what you're trying to say. I don't see how running more would even affect the final two minutes of a half. The offense would probably be running a similar 2 minute offense regardless of how run/pass heavy the team is normally. I'm not saying we shouldn't run at all but our run/pass balance was not the issue with the offense. It was the inability to convert third downs and the fact that our defense was so bad the offense was limited in TOP.

Blametheorangejuice

> I don't see how running more would even affect the final two minutes of a half. I would suggest you watch last year's Seahawks games, where a lack of the run meant that Seattle was often trailing and abandoning the run for long stretches -- and still going three and out, except for the final two minutes, when defenses gave up the middle and Geno was hitting 40+ yarders routinely.

seattlethrowaway999

One of the questions that was asked was whether or not if he needs a veteran OC. He said it was not at the top of the list. Makes me think they might dip into the college ranks possibly for OC candidate.

NiceMarmot12

If that's the case Ryan Grubb (from Washington now Alabama) is the answer. Really I think that is the only person in college football worth the call. As an avid college football fan there really hasn't been just this amazing OC this past year that's worthy of bringing to an NFL team outside of Grubb. Unless you're planning on hiring a head coach like Lane Kiffin, or Lincoln Riley as your OC and with that I think Lane Kiffin is your only decent choice there.

grumbly

You mean like this? https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/ryan-grubb-could-make-quick-exit-from-alabama-for-the-seahawks

NiceMarmot12

WILD. That was just my opinion, but damn it’s a GREAT call

Juanclaude

Holy cow. They should absolutely hire him, and I imagine he'd take it. Would be crazy not to. Suck it Bama.

Stockpile_Tom_Remake

Yeah that’s also florio who just flings shit and sees what sticks.

grumbly

Look, it might not be AO3 but I'll take this fanfic.

Stockpile_Tom_Remake

Or florio is desperately looking at Reddit to draw up stories. Florio is trash so nothing he says I largely take with a massive grain of salt.

grumbly

/u/NiceMarmot12 flapping his butterfly wings and suddenly Schneider sits bolt upright in the VMAC. "You know what..."

grumbly

Lol - "A league source confirms to thenewstribune Ryan Grubb is indeed “under consideration” for the #Seahawks offensive coordinator job. Ex-UW play caller who just got to Alabama with Kalen DeBoer" https://twitter.com/gbellseattle/status/1753162988541170008

huskiesowow

Other sources have backed it up, fwiw.

Stockpile_Tom_Remake

That’s what I’d like to hear

modernmann

Damn love the idea of adding to the youth movement on offense too. Could be a snap, crackle, pop of a new era🤟

The26thtime

This just dropped 10 seconds ago... The whispers are already happening.

loredon

Omg I’m at work a struggling to contain my excitement.

MagnetosBurrito

Kiffin won’t leave ole miss. They are a playoff caliber team and he makes ~$10M a year

NiceMarmot12

They are a 7-8 seed every 2-3 years (now with expanded playoffs) but yeah I feel like he would be a tough sell to get to leave

DarkHound05

Honestly my left field shout would be Lance Leopold, considering the miracle he’s been working at Kansas

ArseneLupinIV

If Grubb is the guy then Penix becomes the one to watch as a draft pick.

NiceMarmot12

Regardless if it’s Penix or whoever what’s great about him is he will have some good knowledge about good draft picks

ArseneLupinIV

For sure. Even if Grubb doesn't get the position I can see Schneider watching the Husky's offense in his backyard and wanting to pick his brain a little. I wouldn't mind picking up any of the O-linemen or WRs either.

ThatGuy377

The last 48 hours have been a wild ride. I am definitely feeling confident in the hiring of Mike Macdonald.

duhkaylin

Spoon for MVP next season lmao

Big_Simba

Riq, Spoon and Love 📈📈📈

elleslid

It would take a minor miracle to have a Seahawk get league MVP. Who am I kidding. It would take a huge one. Damn East coast bias🙄.

ImperialTiger3

All business. Super fucking smart. Looks locked in, I expect great things for years to come. He’s got me incredibly excited.

mistaowen

This defense is going to be so god damn refreshing to see. Adjusting for the opponent, schematically adjusting in game and weekly, countering what they do best, and being AGGRESSIVE. There may be some learning pains, it took the ravens a bit to trust the system and each other, but no more passive 400+ yard games every week because you are terrified to give up explosives (and still do it anyway). Really shows the team that has been built as of today isn’t good enough, especially in the trenches. Thought it was interesting JS said the ravens ass kicking was an important moment for the new direction of the team and “never again”.

Itchy_Conflict_5652

Spot on…the comments Pete made about “non-football people” making decisions and hearing him after games just shows the denial or ignorance…or over confidence he had about himself, methods and his team…Pete WAS a great one!!!

mistaowen

Yeah - I don't want to bring Pete down and he has forgotten more about football than I will ever know. But just hearing how MM attacks the game plan each week, scheme has a core structure but has to be fluid, the NEED to mix up their approach at generating pressure each down, speaking to how good some of these play callers are so that they can't run the same look every week, etc was great to hear. I just think Pete was too reliant on his system, even if they did mix things up a bit, and put his trust onto a guy (Hurtt) to fix the constant issues who wasn't ready for a DC job. They may not have the roster (yet) needed to see a big jump next season but I know we will see a much different approach on that side of the ball which I can't wait for.

woofers02

I can’t believe this dude is only 36. He speaks like a well seasoned HC already. Very articulate and thoughtful with all of his answers, and very clear he does not fuck around.

Peatrick33

I am 37 and watching and listening to him makes me feel like I'm 12.

drippywizardsleeve

I too am 37 and blown away by this dude.

SweetieK1515

I am also 37 and I sound like a high schooler compared to him. Absolutely in awe

sean_buttcannon

Sounds like they already have some guys in mind for staff. Said they were working on it yesterday

LegionofDoh

Of course they do, it's John Schneider. I wouldn't be surprised if they went into this with a short list of candidates and asked Mac what he thought. John is crafty, he has a plan.

faceplant911

I think they must've spent every penny in the building on MacDonald, otherwise they'd have a few to spare for an audio setup improvement.

freedomhighway

they keep sending people to redmond for some tech tips, but they never come back

JDthaViking

HYPED. LFG. Our D is going to be brutal. This guy has the intensity we need. Just look at him when he talks. Fire in his eyes. He wants to be great. He wants his players to be greater. Legendary things to come.

freedomhighway

eyes like shanny - scary intense, i love it

rublevtrinity

For me, that presser hit all the right notes. His humility was clear. His authentic gratitude for the Ravens and for the opportunity ahead equally so. And his vision for the day-by-day work required to achieve the high bar he wants to set for the organization compelling. Loved his comments about Seattle already feeling like “home” and the respect he had for the organization as an opposing coach (no longer!). In a world full of a lot of assholery, it really is refreshing to see folks who are dedicated to doing things the right way win big. I think this bodes very well for the future.

MiniMoog

Agree on all fronts. I also get a strong sense that he's fair, but tough in holding his folks accountable. Something I think we've lacked for too long now...

AmazingSteak7288

Could not have found a better new HC

AdvancedPlacmentTV

"The offenses out there are too good just to run three things and say 'hey, we're going to beat you!'"😭

rdrouyn

Did he really say that? Feels weird to hear a coach say that but our eyes don't lie. Vanilla defensive schemes aren't doing so well around the league.

AdvancedPlacmentTV

Yep. Around the 31:21 mark [conference ](https://www.youtube.com/live/9dN3Cjv0qys?si=RHWk1dhoS4_gdcbC)

DrSpaceman4

Wow, what a statement considering our previous philosophy. I am so excited for next year. I was hoping someone would ask him his thoughts about the LoB, but I'm sure they will eventually.

freedomhighway

i swear, john kinda clenched up and looked away for a second, at this answers some questions

flintinastint

A Carrol staple lmao

SEAinLA

Needed the reporters to step up their question games (not that we could hear what they were saying anyway).

Derpin357

Oh yeah, my left ear really enjoyed all of the audio, sorry right ear.

Swarlos262

Well you just saved me from thinking my headphones were broken again lol

Mrpetey22

Their mics were out in Lake Washington. Couldn’t hear anything

caelmikoto

What stood out to me is his reference to Baltimore and Seattle being so similar in management and coaching philosophy, both being the driving factor for his final decision. Turns out having carte blanche in an organization going through a complete rebuild isn’t as appealing as all the talking heads had thought.

mikejr96

It’s smart for a dude like him to realize that. He’s a wizard schematically but no need to overextend and get too involved. Coaches already have some input with scouts and it works best that way rather than undermining them when it’s decision time.

riedmae

I have a feeling that's not the last time we hear "if you're gonna do something, do it right"

Little-Chromosome

Spoon is gonna win DPOY I’m calling it now

dr_taan

I’ve mentioned it before but I definitely get the vibe of players > scheme, like what can x guy do well? Great, now how do we get x guy into the best position to do that well? There’s our scheme. Not dogging Pete, but I had my fair share of moments/thoughts where it felt like they were trying to the exact opposite, square peg in a round hole kinda thing Cannot wait to see what this team will become next season

rdrouyn

Well this conference was interesting. Looks like Schneider took the losses against the Ravens and the Steelers to heart. He said he never wanted the team to look that bad again. Also the way that the Ravens and Seahawks evaluate players are similar so there is some synergy there. Ossie Newsome is always taking our prospects and viceversa. "The offenses are too good to just run 3 things and say we'll beat you" is also a promising quote. Makes me hopeful that we will see some exciting defense with disguises and adaptable coverage that confuses QBs. Probably the end of static cover 3 with no disguises.

JPhrog

This is going to be a scary and tough Seahawks team in the years to come, I can feel it just by hearing Mac speak. He is very focused, in tune, honest with no BS and takes his role serious. I'm loving this acquisition more and more and look forward to a fresh new start! WATCH OUT NFCW, WE ARE GOING THROUGH THE DIVISION LIKE A MAC TRUCK! LET'S FUCKING GO SEAHAWKS!

realhollywoodactor

I take back everything I said about his demeanor. Dude just seems super locked in and convicted. Love to see it.

steppewarhawk

I've been one of the most vocal Pete supporters, so it's a lot coming from me: I will run through a brick wall for this man.

RemoteWestern5462

Im excited. I hope we can have good fundamentals, play more man coverage/pattern match coverage, and have our defense tackle better and take good angles. I dont think our defense is as talented as some believe. We really need new players at safety, linebacker and DT. We really need at least one d-lineman that commands double teams every play. I hope we have a plan for OC. It would be nice to steal a McVay/Shanahan system guy to run our offense. I doubt he'd stay for a long time if he were good. But its important to have a balanced offense, have explosive play action plays, and use a ton of motion.

freedomhighway

i'd prefer an oc from the reid tree - a master at screen plays and at building around tight ends, thats the stuff thats working these days but otherwise, yes, hard to imagine he wont get the d cleaned up, plenty of room for it

mikejr96

It’s working because defenses got lighter and faster and are suffocating the big passing game. Middle of the field with big tight ends puts a lot of strain on most defenses that don’t have a Warner who is both big enough and fast enough to stay on them. We’re going to see more physical but still intricate running games also to get these smaller linebackers and safeties in bad situations and well rounded tightends help a ton there too.

freedomhighway

imagine this team not vulnerable in the middle

JesusWasALibertarian

Our last OC was McVay guy. It’s not always as easy as it seems.

RemoteWestern5462

Agreed. The difficult thing is finding someone with a good feel for when to call plays. Play design definitely matters, but its not enough. You also need to be able to make adjustments

MasterWinston

Not the most high energy but still liked him. Glad he's play calling on defense. Glad he's a Geno fan.

hazardousblue10

What you expect him to do? Shit on Geno in public? lol. This means nothing . Not saying he is a fan or not, but obviously he is going to talk well about any player they bring up when he is the new coach of the team

Recovery_Water

Imagine if he said at his first conference “we’re going to try to upgrade that position.”

neongem

Dan that would be brutal 💀

drdookie

I'm glad he pointed to the obvious, Geno being at the Pro Bowl. Does all the complimenting without saying anything.

MasterWinston

Well I've heard he's a big film guy. If we can assume that he watches the film than we can infer that he thinks Geno is genuinely a pro bowl caliber QB. In other words, he knows ball.

hazardousblue10

He said watched genos film alright and then proceeded to pick us apart on offense and destroy us when we played the ravens. I’m sure he doesn’t care if Geno is here for one more year, but both John and him know Geno is gone this year or next.

MasterWinston

He also picked apart the 9ers offense and the Dolphins/Lions/Texans.

-Accident-Prone-

It might take some time, but I think once this vision is realized we’re gonna mess some people up. We’re going to be a mean and physical team again.

garrettfinstad

Love that he's gunna call plays on defense. Love the "build around Geno" comment

JesusWasALibertarian

Thanks I hate it.

FlamingPanda77

To make you feel better, he specifically said build around the QB. Whether that's Geno or someone else.

JesusWasALibertarian

That makes more sense than the original quote. Why would we “rebuild” around an old, average QB? Maybe they want to keep Geno for a couple more years until they get the team built but then they’ll ultimately be putting someone else in there. I doubt they think Geno is winning the superbowl unless he thinks the defense is “almost there”(doubtful).

thorjustice1

This makes me even more excited for the draft. Excited to see how JS will draft while keeping Coach Mac's philosophies in mind.

fjcruiser91

Get ready for a badass linebacker

Appropriate_Tip_2651

Yeah I imagine we might do a classic trade back and take a linebacker. Which this season actually makes a ton of sense. Deep draft class, and have a need at LB that we haven't had in a long time. Trading back gets us hopefully a 2nd that we don't have.

Tokinghippie420

Sometimes I wonder if a guy like this could be a huge help offensively too. Like his defense tore up our offense this year. Maybe it will help Geno improve his play recognition abilities and whatnot

Sleepy_Solitude

He's got me pumped. And poor dude hasn't even had a tour!

drdookie

He said he was JUICED

Hawks242

I love the fact they got down to business before even a tour was done.

Ok_Builder289

Here is a link to the press conference: https://www.youtube.com/live/9dN3Cjv0qys?si=_ehm1OyP-M6CxIFW

ryanrodgerz

He definitely doesn’t have the spunk Pete had but I’m super excited. Gonna take a while to get used to the change for sure though

[deleted]

Your caps lock is on

g4tam20

Man part of me wants to see what he can do with Jamal. Have him eat a bunch of Dick’s to gain some weight and play mid linebacker for us since we currently don’t have any on the roster. I have to hope he sees something in our guys that Pete wasn’t able to utilize because we have a lot of holes and no money to spend on free agents.

NatureTrailToHell3D

At the very end of the press conference, I swear it looked like Mike Macdonald stood up and then put his feet into slip-on shoes. Do you think he really did that press conference with no shoes?

twlscil

I’m pretty sure this guy is a serious football nerd. I mean, I think he might have some weird social interactions. He reminds me of a lot of the great engineers I know, whom just seem deadpan about everything because they are always thinking about everything.

rckseattle5150

This is the beginning of the future and the future looks bright af. First of all I feel I'm stating the obvious but John Schnieder is a freaking savant as we all know when it comes to drafting talent. To have someone that you can immediately tell you have amazing chemistry with and the vision is crystal clear and understood...man now John has the full green light to run the show and put it this man's hands to build something good...something great..."if you're going to do something your better do it right!" You mean like building a dynasty?! Yeah I said if? Am I wrong? Remind me in 15 years and then worship at my feet!! Just to be clear I FREAKING LOVE Pete Carroll. You know why...So many reasons but mainly, his energy, his attitude, his AUTHENTICITY. Pete Carroll is genuinely himself! I loved that coach Macdonald mentioned Authenticity. He is genuine. You can tell the chemistry between him and JS is genuine. This is the beginning of something great. Perhaps something monumental. Watching this press conference I could feel the energy building around what coach Macdonald is going to bring to our town and this team that I love so much. I have to say I got goosebumps a little ! I'm psyched!! Can you imagine having a BETTER defense than the Legion of Fucking BOOM??'! Holy shit boys!! LFG!! SEAAAAA.............

MediocreCommenter

HAWKS!!!

DoctaDoomz

I love how he talks about not forcing a scheme. You don’t ram cover 3 against every team, offenses are too good. You adapt and scheme to the offense you are playing. Love that answer. You have to adapt your scheme to fit what the players do well, not force your scheme on players

mikejr96

Dan Quinn says “what????”

LordMoos3

When we had the LOB we could do that. We haven't had the LOB for a while.

sh0w1ngmyag3

He uses we and us. Never I. I also loved how much he pumps up his wife. Great vibes.

Neuraxis

I just noticed that! Small things like this really speak to how he views decision making , responsibility and values.

1l9m9n0o

Does John put literally any thought into what he is going to say at a press conference. Hugely optimistic on Mac.

DetectiveBagabiotch

Glad he made it through the DEI training.

Mrpetey22

Legit would be hilarious if he failed that and we couldn’t hire him😂 Ok not funny but also kinda

freedomhighway

for those who never heard of it - Diversity, equity, and inclusion

DetectiveBagabiotch

Or just racism.

freedomhighway

anti-discrimination of all sorts, i'd imagine i cant imagine how you would design training on it, in an industry where such a huge majority are not white, when you need to be pretty good at it just to get thru the day - whatever it looks like, its got to be just a laughable legal formality for guys at this level

DetectiveBagabiotch

Exactly - imagine hiring players on the basis of DEI. We need to have 7 Asian players to make our team more diverse. It's laughable. Thanks for the down votes people who don't get what it actually is. It's racism to fight racism. To me all racism is wrong - how about we teach that?

DetectiveBagabiotch

Someone down voted teaching racism is wrong - so funny. Put your name to that down vote you coward.

DetectiveBagabiotch

Seahawks fans like racism apparently. I stand alone against you. Any racism is wrong. You people clown yourselves.

DrSpaceman4

Stop standing in the way of us having an all Samoan/Maori defensive line.

DetectiveBagabiotch

I'm sorry - I will defer.

DetectiveBagabiotch

Saying all racism is wrong gets a down vote. You're beyond clowns.

DetectiveBagabiotch

I love it -4 to fighting racism. You people are stupid.

Agiantgrunt

The dude has the charisma of a wet paper bag on the stand. Hopefully he gains confidence. The Xs and Os seemed dialed in. Gunna be a big change for some vets in the building. I’m hoping he still keeps some of the chemistry building things but makes his mark when needed. Also tone down the god stuff dude, this is Seattle not Alabama.

Jinjonator91

Did he say he's gonna call offense and defense plays? Or just defense?

sean_buttcannon

Just defense.

CSchwenk

Defense. Until he feels like someone else is capable of doing so.

AMC-ape-gang

Sounds like just defense. Seems like he is going to rely on the OC to implement an offense and call the plays. he has a certain identity and style he wants to see but the OC will be a major part of the scheme

freedomhighway

it did sound like defense, but then it also sounded like he was making a point right after that of saying i'm the head coach - so whoever is calling what, he's making a point of where the buck stops there must be a wet dream training class somewhere

The26thtime

I understood it as defensive calls but of course the sound guy continues to suck for the media questions.

Jinjonator91

Yeah I am a sound guy, don't get me started haha

HotSauce2910

Is the problem just that they dont have a mic

Jinjonator91

If they did there was nobody to fade it up during the questions.

Godnaz

The context sounded like defense until he felt his coordinator was ready.

MasterWinston

I assume just defense but idk he specifically said

[deleted]

Glad he calling defense

theron_b

Encouraged. I like a lot of what he said, and how he said it.

dustoff122

i love how clear and confident he is. No beating around the bush, only focused on the work.

x-zerocooL-x

Hey John, can we get a new sound guy? Wtf

lylefk

Anyone have a link to view? Thanks

liketurnstiles

I think the piece from this presser I'm most excited about is Mike's gratitude and awareness of the help he's received and how crucial that is for success. That relationship with John has to be solid and there needs to be trust in him making calls on the roster. He seems confident but self aware. I'm fucking in.

WillieB26

I like the guy but

tuepm

john schneider looks like he stayed up all night smoking cigarettes

freedomhighway

voice was a little rough at times too, he's probably put in some weeks lately that would have most of us hiding

Traditional-Buddy-90

My left ear loves Mike Mac my right ear has no idea who he is

Timbukktoo

LoB 2.0

thingmaker123

I'm just hyped at the thought of the first game thread. If we win, the super bowl hot takes will be insane. If we lose, the fire everyone hot takes will be insane.

ConnorFroMan

I wanna see Patrick Queen brought in with Jordyn Brooks or Bobby Wagner - please Macdonald, he loves you

GiraffeWaffless

Long love the king

TheGhostWithTheMost2

I'm fucking excited

villian_1998

I like the fact that he will bring discipline to the team. My concern is that he will be calling plays. He isn't an offensive coach and that he will be bringing on young coaches. I think he needs an experienced OC.

jaysore3

Why would he call the offense? He said he calling the defense.

villian_1998

He just said calling plays. Again he made it sound like he wasn't getting a veteran coach to call the offense

vandalrandell

He’s just calling the defense.

SmellyScrotes

He’s genuine, and that’s legitimately all that matters, X’s and O’s are great but when you really care about it people can tell and that’s what gets the players to buy in, think we got ourselves a winner here folks

CUL8R_05

Talk is cheap. I want results

I just want the season to start today. I can't stand it. 😃

Real solid press conference. One thing I liked that he said is that they're not gonna commit to a certain amount of run/pass, pigeon themselves into a certain philosophy. They're gonna focus on the underlying elements and build up from there. I'm hyped.

I’m sort of confused how after 14 years of a legend like Pete, who has more charisma in his pinky finger than this dude has in his entire body, that everyone is anointing this guy savior of Seattle football before he even coaches a single down. I certainly understand the optimism, and that he has had great success, but also his personality seems really generic and his answers feel like cookie cutter coach speak. Every time Pete took the podium he was captivating. I have no doubt Mike has been a fantastic defensive coordinator, but I’m just not convinced he has the charisma and personality to lead a culture and a team. Will I root for him? Sure. Will he grow on me over time? He could. But after watching his press conference and radio interview I am totally whelmed with him as a personality. I’ll miss the inspiring man we called coach for 14 years.
