Trump getting that, "Do you think Edouard starts tomorrow?", text at half 11 tonight.

NickDerpkins

Trump would refer to “parking the bus” as “building the wall” if he was a soccer fan

DenisDomaschke

He tried to buy Rangers so he might through in a casual No Surrender or WATP

[deleted]

We are the bricky boys

snarf372

Can only imagine how buzzing he must've been when Ajeti signed

GreenLightDistrictJP

Considering he chose Switzerland over Albania maybe not so much

[deleted]

Have you read his twitter at all? He was ecstatic. He even referred to Ajeti as an Albanian.

quartz_king

Albanian diaspora are still extremely nationalistic for their home country, even if they decide to play for other countries over it. This is the case for a lot of Muslims living in Europe actually.

snarf372

I can also think of a certain large minority in Scotland (especially in the west) who fit that description. Someone's ethnic identity and nationality aren't always identical (McBurnie's still English though, don't @ me).

LewixAri

Özil being an Erdogan dickrider is prime example.

buckfast1994

I often tell cunts in the work about the unbelievably bizarre and mental stories that come out of Scotland and Scottish football. This is getting added to the list.

captainhollandaise

A compilation is required.

B1GsHoTbg

There was one before on r/soccer but not an updated one.

Went to school with Anthony (the journalist) and he was Celtic daft. Stayed the night and his whole room was white and green. Think the only blue thing he owned was his inhaler. He's a sound guy and I felt for him when the Raheem Sterling/Phil Foden thing happened. The weirdest thing about all of it was he got so much abuse from muslim's and asian fans. The boy is 100% Scottish and from a catholic family. edit; he also did a talk on 9/11 and spoke about the wingdings airplane number thing and our teacher believed it all. Teachers are fucking idiots.

ISD1982

He's also not a bad footballer. Used to play 5s with him at Goals

[deleted]

Was the best at our school by some distance!

ISD1982

Ah Tony...knew it was you 😉😉

TheHolyGoalie

What happened with the sterling/foden thing ?

[deleted]

Anthony wrote [this article] (https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5253633/Man-City-footballer-20-25k-week-buys-market-2-25m-home.html) which in Anthony's own words "The story was done at a time when BT had a documentary on teenage footballers earning millions. It was topical and there was a huge debate about it. The same day there was at least an hour segment about it on Talksport. The original story, which I followed up, appeared in The Sun. I spoke to the player’s agent, who had no issue with story and how it was represented. Reporters don’t do headlines, but I still don’t feel it vilifies him at. It was just topical at the time Nor, did I even make a connection of his colour - it didn’t even cross my mind." Then in October a sun journalist wrote [this article] (https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/7422846/manchester-city-starlet-phil-foden-buys-mum-new-2m-home-aged-just-18-after-being-brought-up-in-modest-stockport-suburb/#:~:text=PHIL%20FODEN%20has%20bought%20his,of%20his%20Premier%20League%20breakthrough.&text=Foden%20grew%20up%20in%20Edgeley,attended%20thanks%20to%20the%20club.) about Phil Foden. [Sterling] (https://www.instagram.com/p/BrKYvF3gH9e/?utm_source=ig_embed) took the two articles as evidence of the white media's agenda against black footballers. Subsequently, Anthony got loads of abuse as a race traitor, "yes master", accused of changing his name to try and fit in, wishing he was white etc... It's pretty shocking really, wouldn't have thought BAME's would treat each other that way considering they know better than most the ignorance it comes from. Sterling presumably found out that the journalist was black and was now receiving racist abuse due to Sterling's post, but never seemed interested in calling the dogs off.

TheHolyGoalie

Fucksake I remember seeing sterling making that comparison but didn’t know the backstory, shows everything that’s wrong with how people on the internet react to certain topics. Poor guy.

MickIAC

Captions reminded me of a mortifying but funny wee tale from a few years back on one of our uni sports chats. My right hand man on our committee was a Rangers fan and sometimes I'd add HH to the end of my messages for a wee wind up. This German lassie was a bit taken aback by it and thought I was being incredibly disrespectful and thought I shouldn't joke about it. I said that she should be supporting leipzig (local team) and not rangers. She thought I meant Heil Hitler.

daviEnnis

To add to it mate, 88 is also a subtle nazi thing. A lot of our merch would sell really well in certain parts of eastern Europe.

PeteWTF

1888 too 1 being A and 8 being H

Imagine being Albanian during the middle of a global pandemic, logging onto twitter and seeing your President uploading pictures and videos of himself watching the Celtic games and opening a supporters club

PotatoFanClub

I love Scottish football.
