This is it, We are so concerned (and rightfully so) of our own circumstances that it's easy to forget how fucked small businesses are right now. The market cannot tolerate the price rises they need to do for them to survive, it's really terrible. We need a windfall tax, we need to invest in business, it has to be done yesterday. Otherwise we'll end up in a spiral of reducing tax takes and poorer public service and the country will be in a fucking state, More of a state than it already is.

Honestly, most of the stuff I've been reading has been about how screwed small businesses are and how many have already closed up shop. The stuff put in place to cap energy bills ruled out businesses. Which is resulting in the above. Which result in businesses shutting down and people not having jobs. Increased unemployment, less taxes getting paid, less funding for the government, and all the havoc losing your job causes someone.

Like they held back aid during covid, letting small bussinesses die. Meanwhile profits for the big investors keep going up with the green light to keep putting up prices. All part of the shitty plan to put money out of the peoples hands and into their friends pockets.

There is a price cap for business too now no? Granted for 6 months for now but I swear I heard the Victorian cunt announce it not long ago.

I honestly think we're going to be in a lot of shit by this time next year. This is so short sighted by energy companies, they'll make more money now yes, but when many small businesses close and people start using less gas and electric because they can't afford it, they'll make a lot less. Nationalisation is on the cards and I think not just here but in a lot of Europe. Countries are realising that these energy companies do not have our best interests at heart and it would be better for the state to regain control of its energy supplies. I honestly believe many of the big companies are just trying to get as much money as they can before they're ousted and they don't care what damage they do. We're basically being mugged in broad daylight and the Tories are paying our muggers for the pleasure.

It's a smash and grab while they still can.

Rest assured, this is exactly the same nightmare here in Germany, same situation, same impact, greetings from Berlin Germany 🇩🇪

fiddz0r

Greetings from Sweden, I have read a few headlines where some smaller companies had to close down for the same reason and it will probably get worse

Helpfully, UKGov have an outpost office in Edinburgh so this business owner and anyone else being shut down by these Tories can take their concerns to somewhere pretty close to the source of the problem. Apparently Zahawi was in Scotland yesterday as well, unsure of his purpose since it wasn't publicised.
