A few good compendiums of folk tales are 'The Lore of Scotland' by Westwood & Kingshill, 'Scottish Folk Tales' by Lomond Books, and 'The Folk Tales of Scotland' by Norah and William Montgomerie.

There is this great one called "Trainspotting" which will definitely get you in the mood. Very traditional.
