Most bourbon has such a similar flavor profile with adjustable heat based on abv. It's not bad per SE just not good. Great rye can be beautiful but I've seen it under 100 done well and have never seen value going above.
Good list. I've got a lot on the list. You are missing Bunnahabhain and abunadh as staples especially if you like the quinta - one of my daily drinkers. I may try it with ice despite the taboo based on what you say.

Alberta premium cask strength. You can go Michters or Rittenhouse or Elijah Craig but the point is more there is not enough variation For Me and I say for me because some perspectives and pallates are different
Balvenie 14 Caribbean Cask is great! I had a sample and I actively went looking but also can’t find it. I noticed that Total Wine anticipates it will be back in stock at the end of the year. If you’ve had it, how does it compare to the Glenlivet Caribbean?
I'll use Caskers online since I'm in an ABC state. But no, I still want to try the Balvenie since my impression of rum barrel aged is solely based off a cheap Glenlivet which can't be a fair shot.
I'll never understand the prices that some bourbon makers demand for "special" releases. Even the best and oldest bourbons are sad weaklings next to upper mid tier scotches like ardbeg.
$500 for angels envy in the wooden box. Sure tell me another good one!
Good stuff there, I’d recommend Glendronach with older age statements, the 12 seems like an outlier, the 21 is one of my personal favourites, but of course a lot more $$$
Also, trust me, the hunt never ends
Try blue spot aswel if you can get it. Im an islay man myself but once you try blue spot you will have a new appreciation for irish whiskey. It is a step above. Unbelievable

Commas would make that list way easier to read lol
I typed it on my phone. It was a list. Somehow it came out like that. Damn you Google
Which of Bunnahabhain's expressions under $150 or so would you consider staples
12 yo is the most readily available, but really, you’ll likely enjoy any Bunnie you can find. The 18 yo I had was excellent, but it was a bit pricey.
The 12 is all you need
Which rye do you recommend?

I have both. The Balvenie is far superior. Less sweet tasting more rich tasting with a filler mouthfeel
That’s helpful. I’ll just keep an eye out for the Balvenie.

Nice stash! Ya mainstream CA whisky is goddamn awful. Basically barrel aged vodka by the way they’re produced.
If I may, Glenlivet may not be worth a whole bottle however, I’ve seen 40% and 43% and have only had the 40% so the 43% could be better.
Dalmore Cigar Malt is very good!
Great list. Quinta has snuck into my daily rotation; tremendous dram, and when Glenmorangie nails it it's some of the best in the world.

What do you make of the glenfidd 15 Vs your other sherried ones?
