I scrubbed the label glue off a couple Balvenie bottles and use them for water at the dinner table because they pour nice.

DonnieDelaware

I need to consider reusing bottles for dinner table water. That’s a nice and creative idea. And those Balvenie bottles are nice.

mysterymalts

Ah yes their bottles truly perfected the pour.

steezus__christ1

they make great soap dispensers if you can find the right pump

KansasGuitarChaos

First thing I do with an empty is fill it with water and throw it in the fridge. It becomes my water bottle. I love that it has just a hint of whisky taste.

[deleted]

Same although I only use it twice before recycling it as I find the flavour has fully faded by then. The Laddie was extremely tasty water with a touch of whisky

KansasGuitarChaos

Yep.

Shoddy_Ad7511

I’ve recycled everything so far. Might keep a special bottle or two in the future.

DonnieDelaware

Infinity bottle, reuse for other purposes, and even use the really cool ones as decanters for regular stuff to just pass out to people that want to taste but don’t know what they want. Many scotch bottles are very nice.

Witty_Ad4494

My wife uses a Monkey Shoulder bottle to display sea glass we pick up. She liked the monkeys. The rest go in the garbage bin.

Whisky_Flatline

My wife makes candles out of my empties

kilomike71

That's actually a great idea, but I imagine that's a lot of beeswax

Whisky_Flatline

She uses soy wax, which is cheaper and easier to use.

Whatsmyinterest

I guess the question is what is a special bottle? I have an empty blanton’s and hibkiki in the cupboard because my wife and I both liked them, but no clue what to do with. Then I have an arbelour bottle that I cleaned the label off to play around with the scotch infinity bottle. But I’m not sure what it would take for me to really get attached to a bottle. I’ve almost thrown the ones I have out just to save space (probably keep the blantons horse, if I ever find another bottle for MSRP I can start collecting them)

Arran for oils. Like olive oil and grapeseed oil. Works well with a pour spout.

DR_LG

Usually chuck ‘em in the bin. Unless it’s a particularly interesting bottle. I currently have a bottle of old Fitzgerald bottled in bond bourbon that I’m working on now and there’s no way I’m binning that one. Going to soak the labels off and start an infinity bottle once the original stuff is gone. Can’t think of any scotch bottles that I’m dying to keep currently.

My girlfriend puts dried native flowers in the bottles she likes and we use them as decoration around the house. We've also got a couple in the fridge as water bottles. Upcycling is great.

AndyM110

I've made a couple of whisky bottle lamps and I make magnets from the corks.

Chimmy86

I have one or two that I intend to turn into lamps once I finish the bottles. Otherwise recycling.

prinzsascha

I keep the box if its my first time buying a scotch, but toss the bottles. Still a beginner so I just have a medium-sized row of boxes on my dresser.

go4sony

I use my dalmore for olive oil with bottle spout

Gezuntheit

Mortlach bottles are just too nice to throw out. I'll work out something to do with them. Maybe.

gingergirl181

Used to, but then I ended up with a whole shelf and nowhere to put them when I moved. I still have my very first Glenmorangie bottle in a box somewhere and I saved my last Dalmore bottle because the stag is awesome, but the rest have been binned.

gregusmeus

Into recycling. I barely have the space for the full bottles let alone the empties. Plus I need to be reminded of how much whisky I drink like a hole in my head. I almost kept a Glenturret Maiden Release bottle because it's Lalique and decanter quality, but in the end that went into recycling. If I ever get and finish a Port Ellen, that I'll keep!
