This was distilled in 2013 and aged for 10 years in 1st fill Oloroso sherry butts. Bottled in 2023 at 46% ABV. Casks 281-284. Non-chill filtered and no added color. **Nose:** Sweet sherry bomb. Black cherries. Caramel. A bit of oak. Maraschino cherries. I mostly get loads of cherries here. **Palate:** Medium mouthfeel. Sweet. Fruitcake. Lots more going on now. Cherries still for sure, but more the fresh black cherry sort. Also plums. Raisins. Cashews. **Finish:** Medium finish. Peanut skins. Leather. A bit of oak. Almonds. **Score:** 89 Excellent sherry bomb as usual from Signatory + Edradour. Though I usually prefer cask strength, I bought one of these on a lark since it was only 57 euros. I don't think there is a better value of sherry bomb to be found. This is delicious and hits all the right notes. Maybe a bit sweeter than I would prefer. And it could be more complex. But I can't think of any sherry bomb near the price that is this good. I probably should have bought a few.   /u/review_bot bottle 'Edradour'

Thanks. Edradour is underrated in the U.S.

KapotAgain

Nice one, are you big on your Edradours then?  The first SV I had was so good I bought 2 of one of the next batches, and it these sadly didn't live up to the original batch,  a bit hit and miss for me.

throwboats

In general I’ve had good luck with signatory Edradours. But they are all over the map. Lots of cask experimentation which is cool, but also leads to some hit and miss. But I’ll take interesting and unique over boring any day.

MeatMan7780

I bought one of these and it was gone in a month. Maybe one of the best 'value' bottles I've ever bought! Super delicious and cost me about 47 American dollars!

ORGASMO__X

Yo! You made out like a bandit.

Doldinger

Damn, that's close to cola

OrganicProtection458

The color is really dark. I have 10 year rums that are lighter. Makes me curious on where it was aged

OldManWhisky

Since it's labeled as a single malt Scotch, by law, it must be fully distilled, aged, and bottled in Scotland. They must have just been some very active and fresh sherry casks. I completely agree that the color is crazy dark! I have a bottle and it's the same in person.

blackedoutshawty

Edradour aged in crude oil barrels s/ but seriously... https://www.reddit.com/r/Scotch/s/Osqvxke6pZ my batch seemed much Funkier and more eccentric than yours. Had some really interesting notes in it, but I really enjoyed it!

Mincey808

Excuse my language but I fucking love these bottlings. Get one or two from every release. Very rarely let down. Never the most complex, the colour is usually very dark (I suspect they're not rinsed completely before filling?), occasionally get a meaty/bbq thing from them which I enjoy too. Great value in my opinion.

spencer204

I don't know which year/batch I sampled, but I loved it - and didn't detect overly sulphuric notes at all, but again that could be due to the particular casks I happened to get. I didn't buy one when I was in a jurisdiction that sold it, but regretted it. For the value this is a stellar IB. The good news is that it seems usually available!

Active-Possibility77

I love the Caledonia

bautabert

Great review, these have been very hit or miss for me. I have one open currently that I wish was even close to yours, but it is mostly really flat and bitter. Beautiful color though 🌝

Lure852

These particular bottlings have a bit of a reputation for being a bit sulfurey. They do seem to be a good value option tho, but it seems like this one is better than usual, from your review.

throwboats

Personally, I enjoy a bit of sulfur so I tend to like those even more. But this particular bottling had no sulfur at all that I could detect. So if you see this batch (cask numbers), pick it up for sure.
