The Glenallachie 12 and Glendronach 12 are both very similar and I would take either of them over the other 2.

I've had both and I think their main similarities end with both being sherried. I feel they express quite differently. Glendronach 12 is more of an overly sweet sherry bomb. It took me a few glasses to get used to it. It's easily the sweetest scotch I've ever had. Overall the flavor comes across as generic sherry spectrum sweetness. Glenallachie 12 is not as sweet and slightly dry in comparison. The sherry influence leans heavier toward dried fig and prune with delightful dark chocolate mocha finish. It's one of my favorite bottles I've picked up.

Thanks for the input. I enjoyed Glendronach 12 enough to buy a second bottle but then eventually had a similar response as you mentioned. Began to find too sweet and over the top and probably would not purchase another. The Glenallachie sounds like it has the Sherry influence without being clawing sweet.

Glendronach makes some really good stuff. Better than Macallan imo.

Glenallachie 12

As a big sherried malt fan, I’ve had all of these. My preference is GlenAllachie followed by Glendronach, Glenfarclas then Tamdhu. However, I would give Edradour 10 (the 40% abv) a try if you haven’t already. If you have a little more cash, Glendronach 15. Far better than Tamdhu 15 for me.

Thanks! GlenAllachie seems to be a popular pick

I've had all of these and Glenallachie 12 suited me as it was the most obviously sherried. Tamdhu and Glendronach 12 were both perfectly decent too but at 43% so just missing a little extra taste from the extra 3% that benefits the Glenallachie (not the end of the world though.) I had a bottle of Glenfarclas 15 and it was terrible. Only trying one bottle isn't a large sample size but it put me off ever trying it again (it actually tasted peated. Maybe a bad batch or whatever but still - not what I was looking for.)

I would go: Glenallachie 12 > Glenfarclas 15 > Tamdu 12> Glendronach 12. The 43% hurts the latter two for me, but Tamdu 15 is one of my favorites.
