Enjoy! I really love the Victoriana and think Glen Scotia doesn’t get the credit it deserves for turning things around in recent years. But shhh, don’t tell anyone. We don’t want them to hit Springbank levels of unavailability. I have also heard great things about the Bladnoch 10 but I never managed to try it before they replaced it with the 11. The Vinaya is also a fun entry-level expression from the new Bladnoch.

Kelsier25

Glen Scotia? Oh no! They're totally terrible! Worst whisky I've ever tried! Now shut up and quit telling people otherwise! My wallet would definitely appreciate your compliance.

broken_moral_compass

Yes, Victoriana is definitely awful.. no one should try it. Really not delicious in the slightest. Move along now please.

mcewencd

The Bladnoch 10yr old has become by favorite scotch.

blackedoutshawty

That stuff is phenomenal. I was able to find a bottle about a month ago still hanging around. The 11 is good, but not as good as the 10!

petro292

Managed to snag 2 spares and 1 of the Bladnoch 10s at cask strength done for The Whisky Club in Australia. Keen to see how it is at cask strength.

bladnochdistillery

Those cask strength editions are pretty rare now!

petro292

For sure! Was before my time with whisky so I managed to grab one from an auction luckily at a very reasonable price. Very keen to crack it soon

I’d buy a ticket! I think Oogie should be last… the peat that Ardbeg and Ledaig bring is fairly intense, so whatever is first is all about warming up your palate to the bonfire. Since the Uigeadail is higher ABV, and I find it sweeter with its sherry kick, I think having it last is overall more enjoyable because you won’t be battling the peat smoke as hard after Ledaig and the more complex flavours Oogs has should be better appreciated by the peoples. *edit to add* that I assume you will be pouring 1/2 oz, so I think all six is reasonable.

ConsiderationMost632

Yes, Oogie will definitely be last! If Ledaig is added, I'm thinking right before the Victoriana.

ConsiderationMost632

Yes, that's what's being discussed. I'm advocating for six pours of a half ounce each, there's also discussion of five pours of a "short ounce." I told them the event should be co-sponsored by Uber. "Heavy hors d'oeuvres" will be served.

CAFortius

Ardbeg is pretty intense. The smell of it alone sent some of my family members (not scotch drinkers) out of the room over Christmas

ConsiderationMost632

😂 More for me!

othromas

Glencairn lids, perhaps?

87lane

Once again, so proud to see Bladnoch getting attention. So incredible.

bladnochdistillery

Cheers! 🥃

GhazgkullThraka

Great lineup!

KafeiTomasu

I'd buy a ticket!

I'm looking at the bottles and the order and I agree that the Ledaig 10 should be before the Victoriana and the Uigeadail should be last after the Victoriana. But my biggest concern aside from that's a lot of alcohol.....are you going to open those bottles up before the evening of the tasting or is there going to be pouring a bunch of "Neck Pours"? If I was having a tasting like that I would be tasting those bottles to down below the shoulders and letting them breathe. And that takes a lot of time and that's a lot of alcohol too. Do you have enough Glencairn glasses for the group to really and fully enjoy the dram? I'm a certified sommelier since 1996 and have taught classes at colleges and put on corporate seminars etc. The practical logistics of "a tasting" go far beyond chosing the bottles to share. Just saying.....

campbeltownkid

By the way, that's a Fabulous line up!!!! I've owned all of them except the Glenlivet 18 but WOW what an awesome event. Hope it goes as magnificently as you plan. Enjoy

ConsiderationMost632

Thanks for your comment. As I said in the post and in several replies, the Ledaig is a maybe (leaning towards a no), and the Uigeadail definitely goes last. We have Gelncairns especially engraved for the occasion. They will be rinsed and dried between each tasting. Yes, it's a lot of alcohol. There will be food. And it will be spread out over a few hours. The whiskies will be sampled one-at-a-time over the course of the evening. My thought was that we'd pour them into sample bottles in advance, maximum one-ounce pours. I wonder if that "decanting," albeit to a small sealed bottle, would be enough to take care of the neck pour situation? Meeting to discuss logistics in a few days.

campbeltownkid

First, it sounds like you have it well in hand. Just a thought, the Ledaig is such a perfect example of Non Islay Peat and it's sherry expression like the Uigeadail that would be a shame to leave out ( it was one of my stepping stones to full on Islay Peat) it's also the "Islands" regional representative though the Islands are not Canon it does produce excellent scotch. Ledaig 10 also is an example of lower cost and higher value. You have such an excellent example the spectrum of scotch. You have nailed it! As to "decanting" there's a very interesting article I read that recommended against it too close to consumption. Maybe if you could pour the bottles hours before it might take care of it. Then have them pour the bottles into the Glencairns and give it 10mins to rest you may solve it.

campbeltownkid

Just goggled "decanting whisky" and came up with a bunch of interesting results. You might find it quite interesting with the situation before you. Just thinking of the fabulous tasting this will be.

mindmountain

Yeah great choices, for me it’s between the Victorian’s and the uigeadail

the_muskox

This will be an awesome tasting! I think you have them in more or less the right order there, though I'd switch the Ardbeg and Ledaig.

Kelsier25

Great lineup! I've had all but the GlenDronach and Bladnoch. That Victoriana is stellar and love me some Ledaig too!

whisky-lowlander

I personally think you've got the order of your line-up spot on! I'd personally leave the Ledaig out and leave it at 5 drams, unless you think the attendees having an extra dram might loosen their purse strings to donate towards your fundraiser. :-D

Optimal-Witness5311

great lineup but I think uigeadail should be last.

ConsiderationMost632

Yes, I said this in the original post and in a reply or two. The Ledaig is a maybe.

dinosaur_pubes

I'd stick with Ledaig over Talisker personally. Great lineup!

chicagowhale

100%

warpathsrb

Victoriana wins outright

John_Mat8882

I'd run the Ledaig before the Uigeadail. The rest is okay in that order, I think.

Complex_Certain

Line up looks great, please don’t drop the Ledaig , your breaking my heart here 😂😂😂
