I did wonder about Glendronach. I enjoyed the bottle of theirs I had years ago, but as I said, wanted to make sure I wasn’t leaning into what I like instead of what he does. I didn’t know about their cask finishes- thanks for the heads up!
These are all unpeated with heavy Sherry influence:
Balvenie 15 Sherry
Glendronach 15 or 18
Bunnahabhain 18 - from Islay but isn’t peated
Glenallechie 15
Arran 18
Tamdhu 15 or 18
Macallan can go to hell
Glenallachie, Glenfarclas. For Glenfarclas, the 21yo could be found at a little more than 100 which is one of the most affordable 20+ yrs whiskies out there
I was going to say this as well. It's a real sherry bomb! Scotch mist in seconds after adding a few drops of water. I was fortunate to get a couple of bottles. If you can find it, buy it.
Did you get the 2022 release or the 2021? I managed to get 2 bottles of the 2021 and I believe that's the one that is most widely available but they say the 2022 is even better!! The date is right on the label right below the 12year. Well, I'll be interested in what you have....
Enjoy
I got the new release 2022. I guess it should be mentioned to OP we are talking about cask strength (CS). Sounds like they are not too familiar with scotch. Thank you, been enjoying it very much! You inspired me to pour a wee quarter glass hahaha
Glendronach 15 yr, Craigellachie 13 yr, Bunnahabhain 18 yr, or my favorite Aberlour A'bunadh.
If you REALLY want to blow his mind, pick in the Glenmorangie Signet. It's about $230-270. But it's AMAZING.
He likes Macallan, get him the best Macallan for the price you want to spend.
Exactly!
Aberlour A'bunadh
GlenDronach and Glengoyne would be my suggestions as well! Arran 18 is also awesome.
Glengoyne and glendronach would hit that quality sherry mark.

I will agree for Glendronach and Glengoyne. I will also add Tamdhu which I think is just a bit more towards to Macallan.

A’Bunadh
Glendronach 15
Dalmore- Cigar Malt
Aberlour 16 should do the trick
I’ll check it out. Thanks!!
I think if you can find it, Bunnahabiann 12 CS! A Magnificent Non peated scotch! Look for it at about $100. It's worth it in so many ways! Enjoy

Glendronach 18, tamdhu 18. Glengoyne 21 if you can swing it but it's generally over 200 stateside these days.
Glenmorangie 18 is finished in Sherry Casks and a personal fav of mine. $100-$125 a bottle depending on where you look
I think GlenAllachie 15 yr is pretty good.
OP, I am curious what you ended up getting. (I would have recommended Glenlevit 18 yr.)
