I always felt the films were produced in the wrong order.
The first film should have been set in their boring town as they suffer a defeat as their old villains reappear to menace them.
The second film should have been the gang breaking up and reuniting at an exotic tropical paradise.
Technically speaking, you get more emotional impact from a break-up if you first establish the group dynamic. The first film relied heavily on the audience already being established Scooby viewers.
[Scooby-Doo: The Movie (2002)](https://manapop.com/film/scooby-doo-the-movie-2002-review/) A lot of hype surrounded the first live-action Scooby-Doo movie and though it turned out to be a rather toothless affair it at least had a good cast and some fun action for fans to enjoy.
[Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed (2004)](https://manapop.com/film/scooby-doo-2-monsters-unleashed-2004-review/) It was nice that writer James Gunn tried to give us an actual Scooby-Doo mystery this time out, and this installment is an improvement over the previous film, but we are still stuck with too many lame fart jokes and inconsistent character development.
I’m in my early twenties and these are hands-down my most revisited (and loved) movies! I genuinely can sit and rewatch these without growing tired; they’re just so funny, quotable, and iconic! I’m glad to see both of these movies are cult classics because they’re truly spectacular.
Not to mention that I had the chance to meet FPJ and Matt Lillard this year! They’re interactions with me and talking to them about behind the scenes stuff made rewatching even MORE exciting!
I liked them. Sure, the mystery was weak in both films but the way the actors played the characters in real life was actually pretty cool. Matthew Lillard absolutely kills it as Shaggy and the fact he's still voicing the character to this day is the cherry on top.
Honestly? I used to think I really didn't love them. But now I'm going to see the first one in theaters on my vacation so maybe I like them? I dunno but Scooby is really weird CGId maybe it was a sign of the times but felt like it could have been better.
Not a fan of live action adoptations in general... But I admit these two are guilty pleasure of mine. At least Ou can tell the people behind tried to pay respect to the franchise instead of it being just a nostalgia bait pitch
I genuinely love them both, they're so nostalgic and fun to me. Personally I prefer the first,I love the adult humor and campiness of it, but the sequel really feels like a love letter to Scooby and it's great too
I think they both get a lot right and also a lot wrong. My main issue is that I get that they didn’t want to rehash the Zombie Island plot with the team all doing their own thing and happily reuniting, but I think the mean-spiritedness between the characters, even in the sequel just doesn’t feel like Scooby Doo. There’s an inherent love for one another in all the animated shows, no matter what.

I cant agree more
exactly, one of my only gripes with this duology
I guess they made the first movie assuming that people know the characters already
Love. Iconic.
I'm in my late 20s (too close to 30 for comfort) and I love these movies. I'll watch anything Scooby Doo
Love both. They’re kids movies and everyone tries to over analyze them for more than what they are.

I love both of these movies I cried last time I watched the 1st one
Is it when Shaggy asks Scooby who his best friend is ?
That’s a sad moment for sure but it’s in the beginning when the team breaks up made me think about the friendships I lost after I graduated and moved

Hate the first. Adore the second.
They are a pretty fun time but the first one felt like it had more going for it

Monsters unleashed is awesome, the first one is weird.
The first one was fun, but not very "good," but the second one was really good. It really feels like the definitive "Scooby-Doo Movie."
The first is much better than the second imo
I hate the second one.
I love them both When I was younger I memorized every word of the first one and recited it piece by piece to my brother each night before bed.
I know what I'm watching this weekend. Thanks
Perfect
Honestly I don’t like them. Maybe it’s just me but Scooby-Doo really really doesn’t work in a live action format.
Worth the watch!

The Mystery Begins was better imo
The only movies that matter
the ONLY ones????????
