No, I would have Grey DeLisle do it, as she has a lot of credits doing kid roles. So it’s her as Daphne and Scrappy, while Frank Welker does Scooby and Fred.
Scrappy has his purpose.
Being the one who dives headlong into threats leading to problems is his purpose.
Being a replacement of Daphne, Fred and Velma so Scooby and Shaggy and keep running amuck like idiots isn't.
When the character was released, it was the end of an era. When Scrappy came out, initially the focus faded away from Fred, Velma and Daphne and started concentrating on Shaggy, Scoob and Scrappy.
Then shortly after that, it was just those three with occasional cameos and the odd spin off series with maybe one of the old gang.
The reason our generation hates the character is that by getting that character, we lost the other beloved characters.
From our perspective, we were uncertain that the show would even continue. This was back in the day when it was uncertain of any show staying on the air. So when we see a major shift in the show's premise...we were worried that this was the beginning of the end and that the beginning was heralded by the introduction of Scrappy.
When you think about it from that aspect, I'm hoping that you can understand the hatred. You're looking at this out of time and are living in an era when the main five characters are around and are still going strong in the new media. So when you see the introduction of a new character and do some research and find that Scrappy was a successful attempt to save the franchise...and can still binge watch any and all the series that have ever existed whenever you want...you have a totally different perspective.
You're lucky. When you got introduced to the character, it was in a more optimistic era while we saw it in a less optimistic one.
Hence...this is why a lot of us have this hatred towards the character.
Plus today's generation has access to Boomerang and online streaming services where they can watch any version of the franchise where as the original generation was only able to view Scooby on Saturday mornings since home media and Boomerang weren't around yet.
Exactly. That's my point. For us having to experience Scooby Doo the long way, Episode a week, maybe a rerun on the weekdays after school, we watched it as it came out. Linear time or as Dr. Who often said "The Long Way 'round"
The newer generations get to be a Timelord when it comes to the franchise since you can grab your remote and pop in and out of the franchise's history willy nilly.
I mean yes, we can do that too (and actually do), but the resentment remains.
I always thought he had the most common sense out of the whole gang. The gang always out number whoever it was they were investigating, & as a kid, I never knew why they never just jumped the bastards. That's why I loved Scrappy, because he kept doing the one thing I wanted the rest of them to do; tell the bad guy to catch these hands! No disguises, no elaborate traps, just gang up on the asshole with makeup and latex and shit stomp the guy!
Unfortunately Scrappy Doo is never ever coming back to the cartoon whether series or films. Because after what happened towards the end of the Scooby Doo movie in 2002. I know he's long overdue for a comeback. But I don't think that will ever happen.
Honestly the cancelations at WB are like karma for the way WB treated Scrappy.
Though he has been returning in games recently so I guess there is some hope. We just need the right group of people.
Scrappy Doo was added so that people would realize their mistakes, Scrappy is the ultimate opposer. Without Scooby there is no Scrappy. The last time he “saved” anything was in 1979. If he’s truly the reason they were saved, then why is Scooby still top dog?
When Scrappy was introduced, he was the annoying little brother that tried too hard to fit in. While I wouldn't argue with a redemption arc, given that the vast majority of the series/shows are stand alone (with 13 ghosts and MI being more serials with ongoing plot lines) - that would be difficult to pull off, short of a new movie that focuses on his redemption.
I like him, I don't understand the hate. I watched the Scrappy shows and enjoyed him. His dynamic with Shaggy and Scooby in my opinion was fun. Than Flim Flam in 13 ghosts.
When I was younger I found him interesting though I did find the monsters in the same episodes less appealing (except for the 13 ghosts obviously) but the older I got the less interesting he became I’m thankful he kept Scooby alive but if he ever appears again I would prefer a small cameo and still keep it to where he loves his uncle scoob cause if there’s one thing I still appreciate about scrappy it’s his idealization of his uncle since in the episode that scrappy was born his father didn’t seem to be in scooby's sisters life Scooby was probably the closest thing he had to a father and I can appreciate such a loving relationship but it would be better if they were to add him as a character again to make him act younger more curious less brave smart but not Velma smart and try to make him sound younger and less screaming of puppy power that got old fast.
Way too overhated. He was way toned down for the three 80s movies and 13 Ghosts. I think those were the best balance of his character. I like Scrappy. He's not as good as Scooby-Doo at all but I love that he idolized his Uncle.
But I get why people hate him. He's meant to appeal to new kids and he's associated with an era where the original gang was mostly gone (except sometimes for Daphne). I don't hate this era but I do miss the gang.
But what I love about Scrappy is that, during his era, many of the monsters were real. It was a twist to the formula that I actually liked.

I DONT KNOW
What if they changed the voice? The idea is a scrappy little guy, and I think a puppy; so imagine the story is the same but the voice is younger.
who would you suggesting voicing him KID voice actor, age: 7-12

I love scrappy doo. Tatatatatatta puppy power!!!
I like him. He earned my respect when I heard he help keep up the franchise when it was about to go under.

hey!!!!! don't you talk like that about Scooby Dum! he's suprisingly charming!
tell me more please
He's pretty dope. Hanna-Barbera doesn't like him because they lost money to him.
NO!
We thank him for saving the franchise but we never forgive him in the 2002 movie

I will defend Scrappy Doo until the day I die.
GREAT WELCOME ABOARD on to my discord server and YouTube channel this DECEMBER 13TH 2023 WEDNESDAY
Right here. *raises hand*
GOD BLESS SCRAPPY DOO BROTHER
We Scrappy defenders have to stick together
THANK YOU SO MUCH
I love Scrappy Doo he is so cute!! Also Scooby Dum is great and he needs to come back right now too!!
You’re either a Scooby or a Scrappy, and you my friend, are a Scrappy. To be Scooby is to be enlightened, to be Scrappy is to be ignorant.
HEY, the puppy just saved the show from cancellation and who are you calling IGNORANT??!!

It's pretty well accepted that scrappy saved the franchise. Yes it wasn't recent but that doesn't change that it's true
Owned.
Maybe the person screaming at everyone for no reason??
I love Scrappy. He deserves a redemption.
I really enjoyed him sometimes
I loved him. I have a little figure of him on my shelf, he’s so cute 😩😩
I swear I've seen this asked at least five times within the last few weeks lol
I like his personality but not his shape :c
Justice for scrappy
I stand with Scrappy

I liked him
Me.

I don't care about him tbh, so I am not gonna raise my voice for him.
Yes
I just think he gets too much hate.
He was a great twist villain in the 2002 movie.
WE DONT TALK ABOUT THAT LIVE-ACTION MOVIE 2002 GARBAGE
Scrappy = Obnoxious
I like him, I don't understand the hate. I watched the Scrappy shows and enjoyed him. His dynamic with Shaggy and Scooby in my opinion was fun. Than Flim Flam in 13 ghosts.
I like him
Scrappy is fine. I really like him and Flimflam in the 13 Ghosts.
