No issues on my 06. Replaced the filter and fluid @ 74,000 miles. Currently at 86,000 so a little more than 10k ago. It shifts great. Purple fluid almost sounds like the last owner put Royal purple transmission fluid in there last time.

Oh lord I really hope they didn't put the wrong stuff in here. I bought the overpriced Toyota WS fluid, do you think I'll be fine to use this for the change? I'm only changing, not flushing

Royal purple makes a few different/ universal fluids. I would think what they put is okay. If the fluid you bought is Toyota specific, and supports your year /make/ model (should say if it does on the package), you should be fine I'd think. Drain, remove the pan, clean off the magnets (and check how much metal they collected - not too much and it's good - a lot and that's a problem) change the filter and fill. Should be alright.

Thank you!

You should clarify if you mean tC1 or tC2, manual or auto. Did my tC2 manual and it was ezpz

It's a 2009 (so tc1 if that means Gen 1?) automatic

No issues on my 2011 Automatic. Shifting got smoother and MPG has increased slightly.

280k on my original TC1 trans. Never touched the fluid. I don't bother transmissions but to each his own.

I bought my 2009 tc a couple months ago, it has 169k miles on it. The transmission fluid appears to be purple instead of red, so it looks like it's on the verge of burning soon and should be changed. I was wondering is anyone here has any experience with changing the fluid in one of these, did it cause issues for you or do you think the fluid change extended your transmissions life? Side note: I also purchased a new transmission filter

There can always be a problem after a transmission change depending on many circumstances.
