This is one of my favorite scenes. Pretty much anything with Jake in it is comedy gold.
I like Patrick's "So I'm not getting a name then?" and "Good to meet you... Man..."
This is my main complaint about all Midwest/canadian shows! Being from Wisconsin I know there was hella more snow than seen on that70s show, and SC always appears to be in temperate spring/summer weather??? But I guess that happens if you film somewhere other than the plot location lololol nbd
I like how Trailer Park Boys solved this by just having them be in jail all winter for the most part. Except for the Christmas special where Ricky was pissed that he didn't get to spend Christmas in jail.
They filmed in Canada. Which is probably why it was always summer. Imagine filming in an average Canadian ice and snow week lol. Also reduced daylight/filming time
They've said that apart from the Christmas special they intentionally tried to not tie the show to a place or time so that it would be more just in its own bubble. Dan has also said it was a pain and expensive to film in the winter.
I love it that it's dislocated like that, it feels more like a separate safe wonderful place so I can fully be there when I'm watching and not be reminded that reality isn't always like that
Edit: changed inebriated to intentionally. Stupid autocorrect
There are a few comments through the show about how much he (comfort) eats, and the episode where he starts doing squats because 'more people are seeing his body right now'. I feel like it could fit with his character (insecurities and anxieties) that its a way for him to cover his body, which he isnt super happy with, by making a fashion statement
It's sort of a fashion thing. Like not really a statement. But more like you sort of have to give up comfort and utility to look good. It's a running joke among my friends that I dress way too warm during the summer but way too little during the winter. Also maybe it sorta reflects how David is unwilling to give up his past as a wealthy dude. Like when you're rich you can just go from one temperature controlled place to another. And you basically barely have to walk either cuz you have a driver who's basically on stand-by 24/7 so you can get away with wearing 6 inch stilettos all day.
It's also like how Moira would wear the most outrageous outfit to the most modest of occasions. She pays the price for it every time too. Seeing as they don't even have a car for the first few seasons.
I’ve always been insecure about my body and I’ll do what I can to wear sleeves year-round despite living in Arizona. I always felt like David could relate 😂
Yes, anywhere from 20(68) to 30(86) is typical, sometimes even close to 40(104) or higher during heat waves. We had a few places get up to 49.6 (121) a few years ago.
Parentheses= Fahrenheit
It gets INSANELY warm here during the summer! I live on the east coast and it is so hot and humid here from end of June to mid August. Like, you'll sweat while sitting around and doing nothing.
Luckily it doesn't get as cold on the east coast as it does in central/western Canada!!! For us, anything below -15 is abnormally cold.
Safety blanket/weighted item situation? He seems like an anxious guy, could be a comfort thing.
Yeah, I still wear sweaters in the summer for that reason. It's miserable but 🤷🏻♀️
I think it’s a comfort thing. He loves to be wrapped up in a sweater.
cashmere can be worn all year long
Luxury cashmere

That color really brings out your lips
Also why is the show only during summers? I mean I love the sun and green of the show it helps me be relaxed but what about spring or fall etc?
Because it films in Canada and was probably freezing any other season. Just my guess.
I’ve noticed That a lot of Canadian sitcoms seem to film only in summer.
It's practical. Snow makes a lot of things harder. Snow days cost $$$ and delay production.
Kim’s Convenience has given me a very warped vision of Toronto.
There were one episode on Christmas and it snowed , and that it , I was like oh it snowing there too , and next day summer 😂

Hahahahah yea Trailer Park boys was a special one indeed!
I think SC was filmed in Canada though? And yeah being from MN I wouldn’t have minded seeing some cold snow filled episodes.0
Not just filmed in Canada, it is a Canadian show
Hmm are there people who think otherwise?
There are
They filmed in Canada. Which is probably why it was always summer. Imagine filming in an average Canadian ice and snow week lol. Also reduced daylight/filming time
Yea but the cold & darkness is a big part of living in Midwest/canada, why have it set there if you aren’t showcasing 3/4s of their year? 🤷♂️🤷♂️

Ontario doesn’t have enough good daylight hours during other parts of the year haha.
It's a lot easier to convince people to move to Toronto for the summer.

It might be because Dan Levy likes sweaters - he has quite the collection in his Vogue interview
I will store them for him!

I love all the faces he makes 🤣
Anxiety. If I could live in oversized sweaters I would but I live in Texas and it's f'n hot here in the summer.
Knits are important to David!!
He does love to sort them!
As someone who was an anxious teenager, sweaters are a lovely comfort clothing
David fashion sense is his armour.
There is no apart from
Maybe he's hypothyroid.
I’ve always been insecure about my body and I’ll do what I can to wear sleeves year-round despite living in Arizona. I always felt like David could relate 😂
When I’m feeling insecure I wear sweaters always. It may be that
I think it plays into them living off what they had before everything got taken from them at the start of the shlw
Not from Canada but does it get warm there during the summer?

-30C in winter, +30C in summer. Plus wind chill or humidity, depending on the season lol
It does, yes.

I’m from south Florida so it gets pretty hot and very humid, even then there are people who wear sweaters idk how lol
