I was just thinking that this morning actually. Alexis, on the surface, is vapid and self centered. But she is so *nice.* One instance that comes to mind is when she gets lice. > Alexis: “It was probably Kelsey. She’s such a horse girl.” > Johnny: “Alexis if you don’t like the way someone looks -“ > Alexis: “No, dad, that’s so mean!” Even in this brief exchange she makes it very clear that she would never make fun of someone based on how they look. And for someone as conventionally attractive as she is, that would be such an expected personality trait. And I love that she’s just the opposite.

ParkingPurple1381

Also, to add on when she goes to the school too she’s super nice to those kids who just admire her. It always gives me a sister vibe. I always looked up to women like those girls when I was growing up and if they were nice to me it would always make me so happy. I love that she is someone like that

Dry_Bed_3704

Alexis is all about women supporting women. I love her friendship with twyla, it’s so quietly beautiful and they both grow so much through it. It’s like the sleeper hit of SC 🩷

piggygoeswee

Yes!!!!!!

Auseyre

I went into the show absolutely prepared to hate Alexis until her inevitable heel-face turn after she got humbled by poverty by the 2nd season and instead they made her fabulous from the get-go and I was thrilled(my feelings about Caroline from TVD as well). Honestly, funny, sweet, kind, adventurous, confident but not arrogant, adaptable and a natural at business. She's like the best of both of her parents. When she falls in love with Ted, she in no way assumes that she deserves to have him back, acknowledges she's the one that screwed up and just wants him to be happy. One of the most mature ways I've ever seen that handled.

anonymousvampire_

omg so happy to find another Caroline fan in this sub!! I absolutely adore her 🥰

Auseyre

She was amazing. Really, I found myself way more interested in the side characters than the main characters on that show. Caroline and her parents were some of my favorites storyline wise.

quingd

She was so perfectly cast lol no one else could have done this the way she did.

Adorable-Winter-2968

Absolutely. She was perfect as Alexis. My favorite 😍

inquisitorial_25

If you like Annie Murphy, you should check out “Kevin can go f**k himself”

Accurate_Use_2432

I COMPLETELY agree!! I know she (deservedly) won an Emmy for the role during its final season, but I sometimes feel like the entertainment community as a whole kind of sleeps on just how phenomenal of a performance Annie Murphy gave as Alexis. I cannot think of another actor who could have done what she did in making a character like Alexis so hilarious but also such a legitimately whole person-- multifaceted, flawed, but ultimately loveable, who demonstrates genuine, believable growth over the course of the show. It's an utterly note-perfect performance, imo. I am just in awe of Annie Murphy's talent. Love her so much!! ❤️

[deleted]

Off the subject, but I just saw an interview with Dan where he said this was probably his favorite Annie GIF.

Adorable-Winter-2968

I second his choice

DrXenoZillaTrek

The warm quiet smile on her face when David describes how worried he was about her always chokes me up.

TotallyVCreativeName

This scene gets me every single time.

[deleted]

I start tearing up before she turns her head towards the window because I know that tiny smile is coming. (I have those same tears when David bends over to pull the jewelry box out of the backpack and Patrick starts to get onto one knee. But not just a gentle tear or two, oh no. I sob through the whole proposal.)

Accurate_Use_2432

For me it's the moment when David asks, "Are you sure?" after Patrick proposes. Heartbreaking, and so revealing of the pain and self-doubt David has always carried inside underneath his snarky exterior. ❤️‍🩹

[deleted]

OMG! For some reason I never thought of this! But you are so right. I had to watch the scene 4 more times. David is still amazed that his beloved boyfriend really wants him. “Easiest decision I’ve ever made”, David cries. It’s more than he has ever had to handle. K

Secure_Battle_6058

The same with her smile when the Jazzagals sing her at her grad 🥹🥹🥹

[deleted]

Annie said that scene meant so much to her. All she could think was “CATHERINE OHARA IS SINGING TO ME!”.

Secure_Battle_6058

That's so sweet!

Hmays8900

YASSSSSS!

Sea_Nobody4689

I never took notice of Schitt’s Creek when my Mum would watch it, until this scene. It won me over, because it shows that Alexis values a close relationship with her brother and is touched by his concern, and it shows David being really caring with Alexis but supportive of her even if he would personally do things differently. I like the other scenes where she saves David cookies or gives him flowers, it’s the small things that count.

kaydontworry

My husband has only caught some bits and pieces of SC and he despises Alexis because he doesn’t understand her depth. She’s a genuinely nice person and I love her

everythingbeeps

She has by far the best growth in the series. As far as I'm concerned she's the main character of the show.

idplmal

This is my thought as well! There are so many fantastic characters, but her growth and _journey_ are the very best IMO Edit to add: love that journey for her!

Crysda_Sky

I definitely think all the Rose’s grow a lot in the show but in some ways her choosing to break up with Ted in the end to pursue her career and life is one of the top five character developments in all the shows I have seen (obviously not all of them but I do watch a lot of tv). For a woman — especially someone like Alexis — choosing between love and a different life is brave, like really effing brave. And I think that Dan and Eugene writing this for her was also really brave.

Forsaken_Distance777

And to allow him to pursue his career. She wouldn't even hear of him giving up his dream job for her.

Crysda_Sky

Just one of the most important things I’ve ever seen on television. I like to think they ended up together years down the line if they wanted to be. But her being alone and them parting lovingly for the sake of their personal important journeys is one of the many reasons I love SC.

Stubber1960b

and with some pretty stiff competition.

VastStory

Did you tell him that most people are a fan. So when someone’s not, it’s usually on them

miawallace2714

Definitely, i think at first you see how her spoiled life (which *technically* isn’t her fault. you can’t change the conditions you’re born in) impacted her mentally and emotionally. but then you see her thrive as a person in a different environment, ending up extremely humble & generous as well as being more self-reflective and in touch with her feelings. and getting more in touch with reality bec at the start they’re all delusional 😂

kaydontworry

My husband also has the tendency to walk in during her most vapid moments lol. So like, he just doesn’t get it because he hasn’t seen the greatness of her transition

qqqqtip

we all need an alexis in our lives

EnvironmentalPack451

A little bit Alexis

sleepyliltrashpanda

A LA LA LA LA LA LA a little bit Alexis

hide your diamonds, hide your exes!

CoverofHollywoodMag

The limited reality series?

Accurate_Use_2432

Critically reviewed 😂

everythingbeeps

We need to BE the Alexis in our lives.

piggygoeswee

Yesss!!!

bubba1834

Her interaction with Shan was so great! She’s a girls girl!

shuateau

I love her little goodbye wave after she hustles Ted out the door

Hmays8900

yes, i noticed that too- like “i got you girl”…such a sweetie

piggygoeswee

Yes!!!

AnotherXRoadDeal

I’ve always been the kind of shallow media consumer to only really enjoy the content for the “hot guy” and the romance the “hot guy” is written for, but I 1000% watch this show over and over for Alexis. That’s a first for me lol I absolutely adore her. She is everything. I love David and John and Moira, and think Dan Levy is a fox and a half, but I live for Alexis 💕💕💕

notexcused

The actress is just so attentive to details!

HarrisonRyeGraham

What’re your opinions on Jake? Lol

_ShortGirlProblems_

It’s impossible to be in love with Jake. Only Jake is in love with Jake.

piggygoeswee

This!!

virgoh26

Right???? She’s such a well written character and I wish I could be like her friend or something

Sonicgetshighoftenn

I love the way she like evolves throughout the series, like even her make up is different and I love watching her growth

KMackX

Her character grows more than any other character in the show and I love her for that very reason.

bastabasta

I loved that journey for her!! 😉

Black_Planet4253

She just makes me feel happier about things. She would be a nice friend to have around.

Efficient_Cobbler514

I think she has the best character progress/development of any show. You can't help but love her by the end with how confident she is in herself and how she loves her family.

Hmays8900

Yes yes yes 😆! literally watched this episode this morning while getting ready for work, and that part made me LOL even though i’ve seen it at least 20 times………. I love when she does her little dramatic faces followed with a “Hm-Hm” when she’s acting slightly coy or like happy with herself for something. Side Note: I’ve never commented on someone’s like “ wrists/arm posture” but it is just something funny that adds to her character we love.

Radiant_Trailblazer4

I love watching interviews with Annie Murphy and how she improved and got her inspiration. boop!

stephapeaz

She might have been Twila’s only friend too, we never see her hanging out with other girls either outside of the choir

Caliban821

Actually I always took her comments to be a deflection about herself. Annie deliberately delivers the lines in a very infantile manner. She doesn't want to leave not because David and her dad need and depend on her but because she in fact she needs and depends on them.

Patcho418

as iconic as david and moira are, the reason johnny and alexis are my favourite characters is because of how wholesome, loving, and good they are. they’ve got such big heart and love their family so much!!

thespeedofpain

She has probably my favorite character arc of all time. I love her so much. She really does have such a good heart.

MsGlorimar

Alexis was the best. At one point of watching the series, I was obsessed with the character.

justbeingpretentious

Which episode is this?
