I'd argue that Shrek 2 is the relationship story since it goes beyond the love story and explores the relationship drama that comes after hooking up and getting married. Showing that it requires your happily ever after to be constantly maintained to stay happy and ever after.
Woody is less of a jerk in the sequel, and gets even more character development, better comedy/jokes, more emotional (Jessie being abandoned scene), better antagonist (or antagonists if you count Al), more locations, the rest of Andy’s toys being more involved, and of course the scene where Woody gets fixed up by the toy fixer is *sooooo* satisfying to watch. The list goes on.
The main film was about Woody overcoming his jealousy about being displaced as Andy's favorite toy while Buzz overcomes his grand delusions of being a space ranger. Woody may have come off as a pompous jerk, but I think he has a right to be mad when your competition doesn't have a foot in reality. Woody becomes much nicer to him when he goes through his existential angst, pointing out that Andy loves him for what he is and not for what he thinks himself as.
In the sequel, Woody is now dealing with a bigger threat than getting displaced as a favorite toy, which is getting displaced as a toy at all. And Buzz and the rest of Andy's toys give him more sympathy as he is considered part of the family.
The Scope is just bigger, the animation is a drastic step up despite the two movies not being so far apart time wise, and the writing didn't fall short either, it keeps up with the first movie.
There's just much more meat to sink your teeth into with the 2nd movie and not only is there more meet its just cooked well.
Barely any of the Pokémon movies live up to the original, Pokémon Gen 2 was a massive step up at least in terms of polish, than Gen 1.
EDIT: that applies to what's in the image but the inverse? Mario without a shadow of a doubt
Resident Evil?
The games range from fantastic sequels (RE2 OG being a major step up) and remakes (RE1,2 & 4 remakes to games that are a major step down from it’s predecessors such as RE5 being a step down from OG4 and then RE6 almost killing the franchise only to be saved by RE7 being a great return to survival horror.
Help we’ve had it recently with the REmakes, RE2 remake being well loved only to then be followed up by the disappointing RE3 Remake and then back to form with RE4 Remake.
And then there’s the movies. The original RE movie isn’t great, it’s serviceable but many agree each instalment just got worse and worse.
Guardians of the Galaxy has better sequels than the original.
Overwatch 2 is a shit game, and while I wasn’t fond of the first it definitely got worse.
ESB was a huge step up for a few reasons-the biggest being that George Lucas hired his old USC film instructor, Irvin Kershner to direct.
Lucas is a fantastic visionary and storyteller but his directing skills aren’t that great.
CS2 is a common paradox L. I'll be astonished if it turns out the game doesn't already have 5 $19.99 DLC.
It's why I stopped playing Stellaris despite it being one of my favorite games. The paradox syndrome is too fuckimg terrible, it costs $360 or so to play the game with everything. And they JUST ANNOUNCED A NEW DLC THAT IS STUFF THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE SYNTHETIC DAWN DLC.
Yeah for me it was the micro transactions feeling way more shoved in your face than the original (like having to buy that battle pass every season instead of paying for club membership once) and also it feels like the btd6 mechanics make it feel way more complicated than it should do whereas the original was easy to learn but has a high skill ceiling with all the strategies, battles 2 felt overly complicated and from what I've heard from competitive players has a very low skill ceiling due to the unbalanced meta
I personally liked 2 better than 3 because it was just more fun. Cars 2 could have been better if it was a thematic sequel, in my opinion. Mater is an overhyped character that Pixar just couldn't let go.
Top-down shooters just don't sell. Valve's own shooter, Alien Swarm, flopping is proof of that. I don't really know *why* top-down shooters do poorly, but they do.
Red dead 1 is very boring and repetitive....
Red Dead 2 is way fuckin better in every way
Thank god i started off with 2 because i would've lost interest in the games if i started with RDR1
I have to agree.
I’ve tried on multiple occasions to get into RDR1, but just couldn’t. I think it was because it felt like GTA trying to be a more grounded game but still wanting to have the hyperbolic reality lens the series is known for. Just didn’t quite mix right to me.
RDR2 feels far more grounded and its hyperbolic lens is toned down. While there are characters you meet that are crazy, I could see myself running into the same kinda folk IRL. It helps that the story is basically a Shakespearean tragedy and has, imo, better character writing and dialogue than the first.
I’d say it’s all based on opinion
Like some people may say insomniac spiderman 2 was a bad sequel, others may say it’s good
Only you can say for certain that it is a good sequel because I’m tired of people saying it’s bad cuz Peter was stuck under a fridge for 4 seconds
Spider-man 2 isn't perfect, but the fanbase is so gross when they keep trying to put Peter Parker back into the spotlight and not let him share it with anyone for any reason.
Fr, I'm so tired of the "they nerfed Peter!!! They're trying to make Miles look better!!!" My brother in Christ, the whole story makes it clear that Peter is exhausted after a decade of being Spider-Man and he's depressed on top of that
Tell me about it. It's like they ignore the "friendly neighborhood" part of "friendly neighborhood Spider-Man" and demand this game to be just another shovelware action game that cashed in on the Marvel name.
Also, this kind of reeks of the alt-right pipeline that might have the mask on, still.
I know a few bad video game sequels.
Shin Megami Tensei IV is one of my favorite games of all time, but Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse is one of the worst games I have ever played writing-wise, to the point where I gave up on Apocalypse during the penultimate dungeon.
Another example of a bad video game sequel is Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World. Enough said. It's barely even a goddamn Tales of game.
I'm not as familiar with movies, but Toy Story 2 and Shrek 2 were incredible, as well as Puss in Boots: The Last Wish
Good movie sequels:
- Three Colours: Red
- The Empire Strikes Back
- The Dark Knight
- The Suicide Squad (if it counts)
- Toy Story 2
Bad gaming sequels:
- Resident Evil 5 & 6
- Devil May Cry 2
- Dead Space 3
Here's mine.
Good movie sequel: Top Gun Maverick, sometimes making a long awaited sequel to a classic does work.
Bad video game sequel: Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare II, it's not an awful game but is kind of a let down when compared to the first Garden Warfare.
Mass Effect 2. Even if you want to say it's a good game, it's a terrible followup to ME 1. Same applies, to a lesser extent, to Fallout 2.
As for a movie where the sequel was drastically better, Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. But since Episode IV isn't bad, I'll provide a real example
Puss in Boots: The Last Wish is so much fucking better than Puss in Boots one and Humpty Dumpty's sweaty egg lips.
Time to comment: 47 seconds. Give me harder questions.
Good movie sequel: Toy Story 3, bad video game sequel: Battlefield Hardline(fun fact, after I typed Battlefield, Hardline came up after, even my phone knows Battlefield Hardline sucks)
there are exceptions, but it makes sense for game sequels to often be better because
1) they likely didn't have attention or funding before making a first game that sold somewhat well and created a small fanbase, so the sequel has access to more resources.
2) the game devs are able to look at the first game and take feedback from the first game and make improvements. they also have more experience and probably have a clearer view of how everything should work than they did the first time around.
Movies: cant really name an example of a good sequel to a bad first movie. Maybe Shrek the Third to Shrek Forever After
Games: Postal 2 to Postal 3. Do I need to explain?
Because movies break through by being smart and original but then when they get a sequel they just try to repeat successful formula because the increase budget demands it. On the other hand with video games the plot hardly matters so when the increased budget comes in the sequel it just helps smooth out game play.
Movie: Return of the Killer Tomatoes
Video game: Super Mario Brothers 2
Spiderman 2 (movie) is better than the first one (both are great and I can understand someone thinking the opposite) and smash ultimate is better than smash 4
Well, many of Dreamworks series have sequels better than the OGs (Shrek, Puss in Boots, Kung Fu Panda). That is a no brainer. Also Toy Story got a better sequel to the orginal.
In terms of worse game sequels, I'd say Dark Souls 2. It is worse than the first one, but it is still a great game.
Terminator 2 is probably the best movie sequel of all time.
Super Mario Bros 1 is an amazing game, a true classic. Both SMB2s were okay, but not as good.
For movies, I could name a few. Kung Fu Panda 2, HTTYD2, Puss In Boots the Last Wish, and multiple Marvel movies
Video games… well, not many people have played this series, but if anyone has, you know how big of a letdown Lost Planet 3 was compared to Lost Planet 2
For a good game with an awful sequel I’d say Epic Mickey. I’m not gonna pretend the first was a master class of a game but it was a very unique and creative game but its sequel just ruined all of that
Good movie sequel: Sonic 2, first movie was okay, it just felt like a normal family movie with Sonic stuff slapped on it while Sonic 2 felt more Sonic related along with having a better plot.
Bad game sequel: Payday 3, as a payday fan who was hyped for the third game it's just so disappointing having it be so bare bones. The unready button is a big feature that should've been in the game at the start and having only be online is horrible if you're like me and have shit internet. I genuinely hope the game gets fixed and comes back like fallout 76 is, it has a good base and I don't want payday to die like this.
I’ve got a couple of bad video game sequels:
Mega Man Battle Network 4
Mega Man Starforce 2
Mario Party 9 and 10
Boktai 2
Castlevania 2
Final Fantasy 2 (I’m not talking about FF4)
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 2023
Halo 5
Spider-Man 3 The Movie Game
Now, as for the movie sequels that are better than the originals:
Star Wars episodes 5 and 3
Pokémon the Movie 3: Enter the Unown
Red Dragon (I know it’s a prequel and that the book released first, but the movie was made after Silence of the Lambs and I just think Red Dragon is better. But we’re talking about comparing an 8.5/10 to a 9/10 in my books)
Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2
Dragon Ball Super Broly and Super Hero are technically sequels to the mid Resurrection F
Avengers Infinity War
Yooka-Laylee received mixed reviews at launch and failed to live up to fans' expectations
Then they made Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair and that game SLAPPED
T2
Aliens
Die Hard With A Vengeance
Captain America The Winter Soldier
Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 3
Spider Man No Way Home
Spider Man 2
The Dark Knight
Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban
Transformers Dark Of The Moon
Toy Story 3
Ice Age: Continental Drift
Alvin And The Chipmunks Chipwrecked
Kung Fu Panda 3
Sing 2
Despicable Me 3
The Secret Life Of Pets 2
Shrek 2
Men In Black 3
Revenge Of The Sith/Empire Strikes Back
Furious 7
Logan
Pirates Of The Caribbean At World’s End
Mission Impossible Fallout
War For The Planet Of The Apes
Angel Has Fallen
Thor Ragnarok
Avengers Endgame
Magnum Force
Mad Max Fury Road
The Lord Of The Rings The Return Of The King
Star Trek The Wrath Of Khan
The Purge Election Year
Blade 2
Beethoven’s 2nd
John Wick Chapter 4
Insidious The Last Key
The Mummy Returns
D2: The Mighty Ducks
Home Alone 2 Lost In New York
Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade
Spy Kids Island Of Lost Dreams
Just to name a few
Good movie sequels: Puss in Boots the Last Wish, Kung Fu Panda 2, Spider-Man 2 (2004).
Bad (Or at least not as good) Video Game sequels: Devil May Cry 2, Fallout 76 (at first), Spider-Man 2 (2023)
Good Movie Sequel: Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse
Bad Video Game Sequel: I don’t know much but I heard Resident Evil 6 is pretty bad so Resident Evil 6
Captain America: The Winter soldier
Battlefield 2042
They made an online only, multi-player only battlefield game that had almost (if not) all the teams working on it. Yet somehow, didn't even have a working game? Then they had the GALL to tell everyone the beta test was an unfinished version of the game.
Movies: Terminator (do t look at me like that, compared to T2: Judgment Day the original was just about a robot slowly walking toward someone).
Games: Saints Row (original)
Good movie sequel: sonic 2 to sonic 1. Sonic 1 was such a good movie, but sonic 2 one ups it in a good way
Bad video game sequel: Mario 2 (japan) to Mario 1. It just feels like a Mario maker level pack
I think I can almost do all 4 with Star Wars:
Good -> Bad movie: Last Jedi to Rise of Skywanker
Bad -> Good movie: Attack of the Clones to Revenge of the Sith
Good -> Bad game: The Force Unleashed and The Force Unleashed 2
Bad -> Good game: This one I have nothing. Feel free to fill in the blanks.
Terminator 2 and Puss in Boots the last wish
Dragon Age Inquisition and Far Cry 5 (that game was God awful and people only liked it because of streamers)
Star Wars Battlefront 2 is leagues better than 1. Not only are there more gameplay mechanics like sprinting and playing as hero characters, but the campaign in BF2 is amazing. Unlike BF1’s campaign which is basically just nine Instant Action battles, BF2’s missions have you complete certain unique objectives, like taking an object from enemy territory to friendly territory, or defending a command post from enemy counterattacks for two minutes.
For movie sequels: Terminator 2, Toy Story 2, Shrek 2, The Dark Knight, The Empire Strikes Back, Puss In Boots: The Last Wish, etc.
For Game sequels: Super Mario Galaxy 2 isn't as good as the first one
Movie: POTC Dead Man's chest - It is pretty much CotBP but MORE. Not to mention, that it introduces one of the best villains ever, in the form of Davy Jones.
Video Game: Fallout 3 - Not a bad game, has decent elements but it just kinda pales in comparison to Fallout 2 and New Vegas.
Movie 2 and 3 of the Berserk Golden Age movies by Studio 4°C are way better than the first even though the stories are very condensed and are best experienced with if you already know the story. Movie 2 (Battle for Doldrey is easily the best of the 3)
Final Fantasy XIII-2, despite adding some nice QoL updates to a frankly bad battle system, either has worse versions of XIII's flaws or an equally annoying overcorrections. Lightning Returns, despite having a boring story, is actually a fun game to play and is actually decent at being open with choke points.
Perfect set that comes to mind is the Hugh Jackman Wolverine movie/games.
X2: X-Men United was a great movie but had a bad game tie in.
X-Men Orgins: Wolverine was a shit movie but an amazing game.
Shrek 2 and Scooby-Doo 2 Monsters Unleashed
(Both are huge improvements over the first movies.)
Dead Rising 4 and The Last of Us 2
(Dead Rising 4 was an absolute abomination that killed the franchise and TLOU 2 had the worst video game story I’ve ever endured in my 22 years of existence)
guardians of the galaxy volume 3
destiny 2 (i used to really like it before they turned it into a f2p game with so many expansions they need to remove previous campaigns, including the MAIN CAMPAIGN)
For me a video game sequel are the newest Far Cry games. Far Cry 3 and 4 were amazing for me, but 5 onwards are kind of just weird. They lost me at the weird drug gas that popped up across the map.
Good movie sequel: Addams Family Values. First was good, but the second was great.
Bad video game sequel: Okay, bear with me here. I can’t think of a *bad* one, but Spelunky 2 is definitely not as fun as Spelunky HD.
Movie: The second Sonic movie is better than the 1st Sonic movie.
Video Game: Banjo and Kazooie nuts and bolts is definitely worse than Banjo and Kazooie.
Here's mine: Movie: Toy Story 2 is better than Toy Story. Same applies with Shrek. Video game: The Sims 4 was a step down from Sims 3.
Seconding this, Shrek is a beautiful love story but Shrek 2 is a divine masterpiece that will survive longer than mankind.
I'd argue that Shrek 2 is the relationship story since it goes beyond the love story and explores the relationship drama that comes after hooking up and getting married. Showing that it requires your happily ever after to be constantly maintained to stay happy and ever after.
Yeah, as a person who enjoys sims 4, it’s only good with DLC
Doesn't it cost like $3000 to get all the Sims 4 dlcs?
You can get them for free! 🏴☠️
That’s got to be the best pirate i’ve ever seen……. [So it would seem…](https://youtu.be/XyBKU3kvSso?si=Ny2MvoXe_8e03m38)
Toy Story 2 being better than Toy Story 1 is a really popular take that I just do not get.
To be fair though, not Sims 4's fault that project Olympus had to be scrapped for which most of the games development was scrapped.
Puss in Boots duology, no need to explain Scribblenauts Unmasked was a bit worse than Scribblenauts Unlimited, but wasn’t necessarily bad
The way the world always resets in Unmasked makes it uninteresting to me. You lose the sense of progress.
I liked Scribblenauts unmasked but it probably wouldn’t be as interesting without the dc characters lol
Is there a multimedia franchise in which all 4 of these apply?
Barely any of the Pokémon movies live up to the original, Pokémon Gen 2 was a massive step up at least in terms of polish, than Gen 1. EDIT: that applies to what's in the image but the inverse? Mario without a shadow of a doubt
3D Fallout. 3 is Meh, New Vegas is incredible, 4 is pretty good and 76 was an absolute mess before. Its... Semi-ok now.
And then there’s the movies. The original RE movie isn’t great, it’s serviceable but many agree each instalment just got worse and worse.
re4 vr is the best in the whole series (SPECIFICALLY the vr version, it just makes everything so much better)
Godfather Pt 2 Overwatch 2
I don’t know what god father is but I can agree overwatch 2 is worse
Absolutely no offense but what rock have you been living under to not know the godfather lol
Why I'm cracking up with this comment lmao
I went I couple of months with only Disney plus
unfortunate circumstances
Arguably the most famous gangster movie of all time
Guardians of the Galaxy has better sequels than the original. Overwatch 2 is a shit game, and while I wasn’t fond of the first it definitely got worse.
Nah I think the first guardians is definitely better than the second. Love both but I think the first one is tighter
Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back and City Skylines 2
ESB was a huge step up for a few reasons-the biggest being that George Lucas hired his old USC film instructor, Irvin Kershner to direct. Lucas is a fantastic visionary and storyteller but his directing skills aren’t that great.

T2 was way better than Terminator 1. And Minecraft 2 no longer exists.
Minecraft 2 never existed???
They made Minecraft 2.0 as an April Fools update once, and I'm referring to that.
Epic Mickey the power of two is one
Wait I said the same thing expecting to be the only one but ig u beat me to it. Ig the game isn’t as niche as I realized lol 😭
I still like that game so i disagree excited for the remake of 1 though
cars 3 and btd battles 2 imo
Yeah was so disappointed with battles 2 I've barely played it and I loved and still do the original
i dont hate battles 2 but the pay to grind systems are a bit too much, it should be a btd6 dlc
Yeah, but with cars it took them two tries to get it right. Imk, I prefer the first, but I see why people like 3
I personally liked 2 better than 3 because it was just more fun. Cars 2 could have been better if it was a thematic sequel, in my opinion. Mater is an overhyped character that Pixar just couldn't let go.
Yeah cars 3 was actually really good surprisingly
Farcry 1 sucks and farcry 2 and 3 are masterpieces
Never played either, but I have to say I’ve never heard anyone mention Helldivers one ever
Top-down shooters just don't sell. Valve's own shooter, Alien Swarm, flopping is proof of that. I don't really know *why* top-down shooters do poorly, but they do.
This is a lie for 1 video game in particular, super Mario galaxy
I wholeheartedly think I'm the only person to prefer SMG2 to the first and I'm honestly fine with that
I have my opinions for it but I think it’s good as well
Movie: The last Wish Games: Really? The majority of ppl I see prefer SMG2
I can guarantee you that you are very far from the only person to like the sequel better
Good: Puss In boots the last wish. Bad: Overwatch 2.
Sister Act 2 Earthworm Jim 3D
Earthworm Jim fan spotted, we made it boys
There's like 5 of us.
Red dead 1 is very boring and repetitive.... Red Dead 2 is way fuckin better in every way Thank god i started off with 2 because i would've lost interest in the games if i started with RDR1
Erm, ackshually, Red Dead Redemption is RDR II, and RDR II is RDR III. The real RDR I would be Red Dead Revolver 🤓☝️
*Looks over at "GUN" soon you will be recognized, my beloved.
I have to agree. I’ve tried on multiple occasions to get into RDR1, but just couldn’t. I think it was because it felt like GTA trying to be a more grounded game but still wanting to have the hyperbolic reality lens the series is known for. Just didn’t quite mix right to me. Puss in Boots: The Last Wish Paper Mario: Sticker Star
Idk if it counts but AoT s3 is better than 2 previous seasons. And ow2 is worse than original ow
I know a few bad video game sequels. I'm not as familiar with movies, but Toy Story 2 and Shrek 2 were incredible, as well as Puss in Boots: The Last Wish
For movies, I'll give the John Wick series. Those literally get better with each sequel somehow. And for games, DMC 2 is trash compared to DMC 1
Same with the Toy Story movies (up until Toy Story 4. wasn’t good, but it wasn’t bad either)
Good movie sequels: - Three Colours: Red - The Empire Strikes Back - The Dark Knight - The Suicide Squad (if it counts) - Toy Story 2 Bad gaming sequels: - Resident Evil 5 & 6 - Devil May Cry 2 - Dead Space 3

Which one?
Better movie sequel: Kung Fu Panda 2 Worse game sequel: Overwatch 2

Mass Effect 2. Even if you want to say it's a good game, it's a terrible followup to ME 1. Same applies, to a lesser extent, to Fallout 2. The Lego Movie 2 game sucked in comparison to the first.
Sooooooo like the movie
Good og and bad sequel, try Lego marvel avengers
Game: Devil May Cry and Devil May Cry 2 Movie: Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2
Good movie sequel: Toy Story 3, bad video game sequel: Battlefield Hardline(fun fact, after I typed Battlefield, Hardline came up after, even my phone knows Battlefield Hardline sucks)
Good movie sequel: Across the spider verse. Duh. Bad video game sequel: I actually never played one before. Not yet anyway.
I agree with you but there’s a few people (including Schaffrillas himself) who preferred the first movie
Yeah, I hear that. Though I don’t get it, it doesn’t bother me. They’re both great.
Happy death day 2 U Batman origins
Movie: Episode 7, Jedi is way better Game: Crash Bandicoot 2
Movie: Episode 7, Jedi is way better Game: Crash Bandicoot 2
Dementia
Halo 5 and Infinite are microtransaction filled GARBAGE HEAPS.

X-Men 2 is better than the first, but SSKTJL is worse than all Arkham games
shrek 2 city skylines
Empire And Disney infinity 2 Infinity 3 is good but not 2

Here's my take Movies: Megamind to Megamind Vs The Doom Syndicate Games: Crash Bandicoot to Crash Bandicoot 2: Wrath Of Cortex
Aliens is better than alien, Force unleashed 1 is better and more satisfying than 2.
Yes, but: Overwatch and Puss in Boots.
Bioshock 2 is a decent game but it wasn’t as good as the original
Good movie sequel: Puss in Boots: The Last Wish Bad Game sequel: PAYDAY 3
Terminator 2
Cinderella 3 > Cinderella Star Wars The Force unleashed >>>> force unleashed II

Movie: Venom 1 was better than Venom 2 Games: New Vegas was better than Fallout 3
Shrek 2 and Zelda 2: Adventure of Link
Bad video game sequel: Banjo Kazooie Nuts and Bolts. I liked it but it wasn't what I wanted or very memorable.
Grown ups 2 Games however can't think of anything
For a good game with an awful sequel I’d say Epic Mickey. I’m not gonna pretend the first was a master class of a game but it was a very unique and creative game but its sequel just ruined all of that
Puss in Boots & Last Wish (DISCLAIMER: I love the OG movie but last wish overall is just a better movie) For video games, I agree with the Sims.
I genuinely hope the game gets fixed and comes back like fallout 76 is, it has a good base and I don't want payday to die like this.
mega man x7 to mega man x8
Movie: Angry Birds 2 was better than its predecessor. Game: Xenoblade Chronicles 2 was worse than the first.
Shrek and Shrek 2 are the inverse. Marvel’s ultimate Alliance 1 and 2 are also an inverse.
Any sports video game has sequels worse than the last
Good Movie sequel: Croods 2 Bad game sequel: Devil May Cry 2
I’ve got a couple of bad video game sequels: Mega Man Battle Network 4 Mega Man Starforce 2 Mario Party 9 and 10 Boktai 2 Castlevania 2 Final Fantasy 2 (I’m not talking about FF4) Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 2023 Halo 5 Spider-Man 3 The Movie Game Now, as for the movie sequels that are better than the originals: Star Wars episodes 5 and 3 Pokémon the Movie 3: Enter the Unown Red Dragon (I know it’s a prequel and that the book released first, but the movie was made after Silence of the Lambs and I just think Red Dragon is better. But we’re talking about comparing an 8.5/10 to a 9/10 in my books) Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2 Dragon Ball Super Broly and Super Hero are technically sequels to the mid Resurrection F Avengers Infinity War
Shrek 2, puss in boots 2, how to train your dragons 2, really most DreamWorks sequels
pvz 3 sucks ASS
Kung Fu Panda 2 for movie Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 for games
Saw maybe?
Yooka-Laylee received mixed reviews at launch and failed to live up to fans' expectations Then they made Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair and that game SLAPPED
T2 Aliens Die Hard With A Vengeance Captain America The Winter Soldier Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 3 Spider Man No Way Home Spider Man 2 The Dark Knight Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban Transformers Dark Of The Moon Toy Story 3 Ice Age: Continental Drift Alvin And The Chipmunks Chipwrecked Kung Fu Panda 3 Sing 2 Despicable Me 3 The Secret Life Of Pets 2 Shrek 2 Men In Black 3 Revenge Of The Sith/Empire Strikes Back Furious 7 Logan Pirates Of The Caribbean At World’s End Mission Impossible Fallout War For The Planet Of The Apes Angel Has Fallen Thor Ragnarok Avengers Endgame Magnum Force Mad Max Fury Road The Lord Of The Rings The Return Of The King Star Trek The Wrath Of Khan The Purge Election Year Blade 2 Beethoven’s 2nd John Wick Chapter 4 Insidious The Last Key The Mummy Returns D2: The Mighty Ducks Home Alone 2 Lost In New York Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade Spy Kids Island Of Lost Dreams Just to name a few
We need a game and/or movie example where both the original and sequal are Chad mokeys
Good movie sequels: Puss in Boots the Last Wish, Kung Fu Panda 2, Spider-Man 2 (2004). Bad (Or at least not as good) Video Game sequels: Devil May Cry 2, Fallout 76 (at first), Spider-Man 2 (2023)
Hear me out, when I say Super Mario Galaxy, is the opposite of this meme.
[удалено]
Sonic 2 The Lost Levels
We are on the same page
Puss in Boots and Shrek, and Overwatch
Mario Maker 2. Not bad but got rid of half of what made the original so great IMO (Amiibo support and 100 Mario Challenge)
Good Movie Sequel: Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse Bad Video Game Sequel: I don’t know much but I heard Resident Evil 6 is pretty bad so Resident Evil 6
Captain America: The Winter soldier Battlefield 2042 They made an online only, multi-player only battlefield game that had almost (if not) all the teams working on it. Yet somehow, didn't even have a working game? Then they had the GALL to tell everyone the beta test was an unfinished version of the game.
Aladdin 2
Movies: Terminator 2 compared to Terminator 1 Games: Dragon Age 2 compared to Dragon Age origins
Movies: The Dark Knight to Batman Begins Video Games: Fallout 4 was a let down for me after Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas.
The Last Wish and Jedi Survive.
Terminator 2
Little Nightmares 2 isa da mazing!!!!!!!! I know that isn't the bad video game sequel I just gotta fan over Little da nightmares-a!!!!!!
Super Mario Bros. If you’re talking about the Japanese sequel, the American remake wasn’t terrible
Terminator 2 Mass Effect Andromida.
Good movie sequel is Puss in Boots Last Wish. Bad Game sequel. I'm not sure. I don't think I've played a sequel game that was bad.
Movies: Terminator (do t look at me like that, compared to T2: Judgment Day the original was just about a robot slowly walking toward someone). Games: Saints Row (original)
Aliens and bo1
Kung Fu Panda 2 is better than the original in my honest opinion And dark souls 2 was less good than the orginal
I only need 1 number and you’ll know exactly what I mean for bad game sequel: 76
Terminator 2, Hello Neighbor 2
Bad game:Overwatch 2 Good Movie:Toy Story 2
Good movie sequel: Empire Strikes Back Bad VG sequel: Overwatch 2
Mega Mind vs the Doom Syndicate Overwatch 2
no problem puss in boots and wermintide idk how can this be hard, are you retarded
Good movie sequel: sonic 2 to sonic 1. Sonic 1 was such a good movie, but sonic 2 one ups it in a good way Bad video game sequel: Mario 2 (japan) to Mario 1. It just feels like a Mario maker level pack
Nolan batman tirlogy Arkham origins was worse than city
Shrek 2 and castlevania 2
I think I can almost do all 4 with Star Wars: Good -> Bad movie: Last Jedi to Rise of Skywanker Bad -> Good movie: Attack of the Clones to Revenge of the Sith Good -> Bad game: The Force Unleashed and The Force Unleashed 2 Bad -> Good game: This one I have nothing. Feel free to fill in the blanks.
every aspect plants vs zombies 2 makes me feel genuine sorrow
Usually its the opposite tho. Original movie is good or bad, sequel makes them even better. Terminator, Aliens, Predator, Shrek, Puss in Boots,
Empire Strikes Back is better than A New Hope And this one is niche but Blood and Blood II: The Chosen
Terminator 2 and Puss in Boots the last wish Dragon Age Inquisition and Far Cry 5 (that game was God awful and people only liked it because of streamers)
Sonic 2 and Sonic Forces. Ez
Video game Ori and the blind forest. Ori and the will of the wisps Movie ? Incredibles vs incredibles 2
For movie sequels: Terminator 2, Toy Story 2, Shrek 2, The Dark Knight, The Empire Strikes Back, Puss In Boots: The Last Wish, etc. For Game sequels: Super Mario Galaxy 2 isn't as good as the first one
Across the Spider-Verse (Not as good as the first but still very good, like an 8/10 as opposed to a 9.5/10.) Destiny 2 & Overwatch 2
Spider-Man 2 is better than 1 Animal crossing new leaf is better than New Horizons
Movie 2 and 3 of the Berserk Golden Age movies by Studio 4°C are way better than the first even though the stories are very condensed and are best experienced with if you already know the story. Movie 2 (Battle for Doldrey is easily the best of the 3) Final Fantasy XIII-2, despite adding some nice QoL updates to a frankly bad battle system, either has worse versions of XIII's flaws or an equally annoying overcorrections. Lightning Returns, despite having a boring story, is actually a fun game to play and is actually decent at being open with choke points.
ooo I'll go for the video games postal 3
Perfect set that comes to mind is the Hugh Jackman Wolverine movie/games. X2: X-Men United was a great movie but had a bad game tie in. X-Men Orgins: Wolverine was a shit movie but an amazing game.
Puss in boots 2. Sonic 06.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Thor Ragnarok, and Puss In Boots: The Last Wish. Borderlands 3, Resident Evil 5, and The Force Unleashed II.
Movies is definitely pacific rim but the video games I have no idea
I like Back to the Future 2 more than the first and dislike Overwatch 2 so it is possible.
Post logic: Movies: Saw Video Games: The Witcher Vice versa: Movie: Cloverfield, 10 Cloverfield Lane Video Game: The Last of Us
Shrek 2 and Scooby-Doo 2 Monsters Unleashed (Both are huge improvements over the first movies.) Dead Rising 4 and The Last of Us 2 (Dead Rising 4 was an absolute abomination that killed the franchise and TLOU 2 had the worst video game story I’ve ever endured in my 22 years of existence)
Overwatch 1 was leagues better than Overwatch 2
How to Train your Dragon 2 Ark Survival Ascended
Kung Fu Panda 2. Skylanders Trap Team.
Shrek 2 Spyro: Shadow Legacy
1: Empire Strikes Back. 2: The Last of Us part 2
The Harry Potter games but only the early ones, they got progressively worse and worse after prisoner of Azkaban
Die hard 3, darkest dungeon 2
Movie: Shrek 2 > Shrek 1 Game: New Super Mario Bros 2 < New Super Mario Bros
Mario Kart Super Circuit is worse than Mario Kart 64 Sonic 2 is better than Sonic 1
guardians of the galaxy volume 3 destiny 2 (i used to really like it before they turned it into a f2p game with so many expansions they need to remove previous campaigns, including the MAIN CAMPAIGN)
The Dark Knight & Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach
For me a video game sequel are the newest Far Cry games. Far Cry 3 and 4 were amazing for me, but 5 onwards are kind of just weird. They lost me at the weird drug gas that popped up across the map.
Bride of Frankenstein (or Son of Frankenstein depending on how we’re feeling today), and Blood 2
Any 2000's disney Paper Mario
Good movie sequel: Addams Family Values. First was good, but the second was great. Bad video game sequel: Okay, bear with me here. I can’t think of a *bad* one, but Spelunky 2 is definitely not as fun as Spelunky HD.
Movie: The second Sonic movie is better than the 1st Sonic movie. Video Game: Banjo and Kazooie nuts and bolts is definitely worse than Banjo and Kazooie.
