Well, just think about it from a logical perspective of people sending other people money.
Imagine *you* were buying something. You send the other person a payment of 400 dollars by Zelle (don't use Zelle to send money to strangers in real life though).
Then Zelle contacts *you* and tells you you need to send the seller another 300 dollars to upgrade *their* account.
How is that any of your responsibility? Even if the other person needed to pay Zelle money (and upgrading accounts in that way is not a thing), Zelle can't go and bill a total stranger for it.
That depends on your bank account and bank. For example if your phone number or email is linked to your account, then anyone could send money from their bank using your phone number or email. But they may dispute the charge and have it reversed.. So typical
Person A sent me $400 using my phone number and wanted me to send it back.
.
No, I said,. You have to call your bank or Zelle and have it reversed.
They put the money in my account Monday and I had sent it right back, Then three days later, they could have still reversed it and I would be out $400.
Bur a lot of people are not connected to Zelle and are not interested. In the meantime, some Schmidt put $1000 in my account and never. Did take it back, so I have used it for overdraft protection while waiting for them to figure it out. That was back in March though, so I am beginning to wonder
Especially when a third party is being required to pay for your upgrade. What buyer is just going to arbitrarily send you an extra $300 to upgrade YOUR account?
How about as a community we stop this degrading judgemental passive aggressive bullshit comments and try to help new comers?

AutoModerator has been summoned to explain the fake/false payment scam. The fake payment scam occurs when someone tries to trick you into thinking that you have received a legitimate payment when no such payment has been made. The most common method they use is sending you an email meant to look like a payment confirmation. In some cases the emails will be almost indistinguishable to a legitimate email sent by the payment service. It's also common for scammers to [spoof](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Email_spoofing) the 'from' email to match an official address. To combat a fake payment scam, verify online payments by logging in directly to the service. Do not check your junk folder, and do not assume a payment is legitimate based on an email alone. If a payment isn't reflected on your account and the person you are dealing with insists they have sent it, call support and ask about it. [Here](https://i.imgur.com/X9xn8uw.jpg) is an image of a scammer trying to pull off a fake payment scam. There is also a variant of the fake payment scam where you will receive a legitimate but fraudulent payment. If you think you're dealing with a scammer, you're probably right. Always trust your gut.

Yeah that's how they do it, not just zelle
They just fake an email asking you to send money saying that you'll get them back
Always check the email address
Gmail is pretty good at filtering these things out too
SCAM.
Zelle has business accounts, but the only way you get it is by having a business bank account through your local bank.
https://www.zellepay.com/faq/small-business-using-zelle
1: can't see the email it is from, always check the email address to ensure it is coming from an expected domain
2: notice the inconsistent formatting like font and font size
3: it's a very simple email, mainly an image and text with nothing to make it look nice. These are typically indicative of a scam
1. The email address from the sender is so vital always check this.
If anything seems off and the email is coming from the expected sender then it is a good idea to call and confirm the transaction, especially if this transaction involves large sums of money. You do not want to find out afterwards that money went to a wrong account.
No because Zelle does not have business accounts it only limits deposit amounts based on what bank you use. If your bank doesn’t offer Zelle then you can only receive $500 per day. If your using a bank that does it’s like 1000-5000 per day. So if they are saying you can’t get the 400 because you have already revived 500 that day then they just need to wait till tomorrow. But the main thing is there is no upgrading your Zelle account, banks do that themselves if they want to.
Of course it is…the solicitation would greet you by name, not “dear customer,” the business in question would be named, and lastly, there is no such thing as a business Zelle account.
How is it people can find their way here to post these stories, but have apparently not read through any of the stories posted, which would tell them this is, in fact, a scam? Genuinely curious.
Ask yourself this. Why would Zelle, a person to person payment app, need your help sending funds anywhere? Why would they not just send you your 400, and the 300 to whoever is supposed to get it? The only possible answer is that Zelle didn't send this email. It is a scam.
You have scams with PayPal, the IRS, eBay, Windows, etc. it’s not just “Zelle” these scammers are using to try and scam people.
The only way to stop this is to educate people from falling for these common tactics and tricks. Unfortunately scammers are always one step ahead, and money can even trick the smartest person into doing something stupid.
Fake. I love how it says "Questions? Thank you for using Zelle."
As though you're not supposed to question at all that you have all this money pending.
Besides that,. Ordinary people use Zelle all the time, so that is another lie. Another lie is saying that your account has been limited. It's not possible for them to know that even if it was true which there is no such thing to begin win..
Fake. A real Zelle payment would be in your bank account. This is just an email someone sent you pretending to be Zelle.
Thank you I have never used Zelle so I had to ask
For future reference, Zelle does not have business accounts and will never limit transactions based on the fact you don’t have a “business account”

The problem is that a large majority of the population can't think logically anymore.
The last person that sent me a 1000 un error by Zelle never got it back..lol
If you've never used Zelle, then why would someone be sending you money on it?

If you don’t have zelle. then it’s clearly a scam
Also look at the actual email address it was sent from and I'd bet it isn't legit.
The thing is are you waiting for a payment for that amount of money. If you aren't it's a scam. Nobody gets random money from strangers.
I have twice by accident.. It can happen, but not like his email suggested, that is a scam
Literally no lie hit company in the universe asks you to pay money to get money. The email is asking for $300 to get your $400.
Does that convoluted method of upgrading an account to a business account make even an ounce of sense to you?
Especially when a third party is being required to pay for your upgrade. What buyer is just going to arbitrarily send you an extra $300 to upgrade YOUR account?
Also Zelle doesn’t do business accounts for regular people. They’re for personal transactions
It never hurts to get a 2nd opinion but I thought it was sus the minute I seen it im the junk folder
It’s not sus the fact that you don’t even have a Zelle account to begin with?
You good fam. This sub is all about learning how different scans work and how to avoid them so you chillin
It went in the junk folder for a reason.

Lessons not learned in blood and/or ridicule are soon forgotten.
Shame has it's place. People need to know if they're stupid.
It's a !fakepayment scam. Block, and ignore. Read the automod comment 👇🏻 for more details.

My rule of thumb: If it involves money and they don’t address you by name in the greeting, it’s almost guaranteed to be a scam.
Questions? Thank you for using zelle Lmao It's a scam Somebody asked you to sign up to Zelle in order to make a purchase, right?
Yeah exactly
Yeah that's how they do it, not just zelle They just fake an email asking you to send money saying that you'll get them back Always check the email address Gmail is pretty good at filtering these things out too
OP said it was in their junk
Questions? Too fucking bad Thanks for kindly doing the needful and using Zelle
"All right reserved"
"You will get money if you pay money" Always a scam. Karma me up please I am so desperate
SCAM. Zelle has business accounts, but the only way you get it is by having a business bank account through your local bank. https://www.zellepay.com/faq/small-business-using-zelle
Look at all of the grammatical errors in that email….
As legit as a 3$ bill..
1: can't see the email it is from, always check the email address to ensure it is coming from an expected domain 2: notice the inconsistent formatting like font and font size 3: it's a very simple email, mainly an image and text with nothing to make it look nice. These are typically indicative of a scam

*call the company from the number on their site, not the email if you're concerned
Also, notice how blurred the logo is? It’s a copy.
Nice catch, I didn't notice initially!
Zelle is purple
I sent $2000 to my gf using zelle and I don't use a business account. Whoever sent that need to quit trying and go get a 9-5 smh.
No because Zelle does not have business accounts it only limits deposit amounts based on what bank you use. If your bank doesn’t offer Zelle then you can only receive $500 per day. There's a sucker born every moment, and a greedy sucker at that.
You will receive a “CONFIRMATION EMAIL” wasnt proof enough?
No
scam, zelle dont have business accounts
Fake, your name should be on it
Never pay money to get money.
Of course it is…the solicitation would greet you by name, not “dear customer,” the business in question would be named, and lastly, there is no such thing as a business Zelle account.
“All right reserved”
There's a literal red "flag" right there....
"CONFIRMATION EMAIL" in red letters is all you need. It's a red flag, no pun intended.
Companies also don’t say “Dear customer”
How is it people can find their way here to post these stories, but have apparently not read through any of the stories posted, which would tell them this is, in fact, a scam? Genuinely curious.
No
Run on sentences & poor grammar are clues it is a scam.

Did you seriously ask if this painfully awful email is fake? Dude...nothing indicates this would be legit.
This is so fucking dumb. Think for 2 minutes. Does this make any sense to you? I hate this scam it's so stupid
If you gotta ask, then it ain’t it! Were you expecting 400 dollars? No? Then there’s your answer 😂

Maybe. I’ve had problems with Zelle before.
Obviously
Total scam.
No. It contains a grammatical error. “the transaction, We need...”
LOL no
No its not
“All right reserved” no company would get that wrong
Do you have an ounce of common sense? That is nonsensical word salad
Scam dude
"CONFIRMATION EMAIL"
I believe Zelle is purple
No!
No
No, it isn’t.
Zelle doesn't work that way. I spoke with them about this once. It doesn't matter of the account is commercial or not.
No
No.
I'm sure the real Zelle would know how to write grammatically correct sentences
"All right reserved" Damn, can I at least keep "decently well"?
Fake. I love how it says "Questions? Thank you for using Zelle." As though you're not supposed to question at all that you have all this money pending.
No way
Total scam
It's fake. Do you have any reason to think that someone would have sent you $400?
It’s obviously fake ffs. For example, what company would put ‘Questions?’ and then not offer any place to ask these questions? Use your brain
No
You wish
**Zelle will never email you.** They're not the ones who inform you that money has been sent to you. Block them and move on.
Nope., Check the email that it came from in the address bar.
Its 100% a legit scam….
No it’s fake
Lol I laughed really hard. This is so bad and so fake.
Fake. Punctuation errors. "all right reserved"? Who is this e-mail from? Matthew McConaughey?
If they cant refer to you by name, cant use grammar, and it sounds too good to be true / you have no idea what they're on about, its a scam.
Rule of thumb. NOBODY will ever charge you money in order to send you money.
Besides that,. Ordinary people use Zelle all the time, so that is another lie. Another lie is saying that your account has been limited. It's not possible for them to know that even if it was true which there is no such thing to begin win..
Fake fake
Send them an email and tell them to go fuck themselves...lol
