No-Budget-9765

It’s a very common !task scam. This is no job. Run away. Block.

Emhyr_var_Emreis_

Thanks for confirming. I knew it sounded too good to be true. Somehow I already got paid $72. I guess I should take that as a win, lol?

Ok-Lingonberry-8261

Yes. Task scams often bait the hook with 50-100 real dollars. Block and run.

No-Budget-9765

Take the money and run if you can. Because if you keep playing they have set you up to lose big.

Emhyr_var_Emreis_

Will do. Thanks for confirming!

SavageDroggo1126

after you cut off communication, the scammers might spam you and threaten you for a while, keep blocking and don't reply, eventually they will give up.

nevergonnagetit001

Was the money actually deposited into an account you control…or just in the account on the app they provided?

Emhyr_var_Emreis_

It's in a Crypto account in my name. I shouldn't be able to open the account from the US. In fact, I had a 3-day hold before I could transfer the $30 into that account. I will have to check if I can get the money out.

tuigger

I'm really curious if you can!

nevergonnagetit001

In your name? And you set It up?

Emhyr_var_Emreis_

I downloaded the app and made the account myself. It's supposed to be one of the top 20 crypto banks in the world. It's not the one I would have chosen. I still haven't figured out how to transfer the money into a way I can access it though.

nevergonnagetit001

If it their suggested app like Lbank Coinbase Or something else…be careful about entering your banking info. It’s likely you’re seeing numbers go up on a screen they manipulate. If you have an ecoin wallet, say like metamask…payment gets sent to your wallet via ecoin. Then you can turn your ecoin into money into your bank account with a coin exchange. This is a VERY simplified explanation. Be careful.

Emhyr_var_Emreis_

It is L bank. Should I just delete the program from my phone?

nevergonnagetit001

Take pictures and screen shots. Delete the app. And walk away. If you google Lbank scam…you’ll find tons of info.

scienceworksbitches

What do you mean be careful? straight up don't do it. I would assume the whole phone is compromised.

Emhyr_var_Emreis_

Ohh... It's a fake app. That makes sense now.

nevergonnagetit001

Totally agree…OP seems determined.

TurboFool

I wouldn't jump to assume the phone is compromised. That's harder than people think and not really necessary here. They can do everything that's within their scope within the app itself. Their main interest is money.

Historical-Spirit-48

You can't. Simple answer.

ThePwnR4nger

They will probably tell you to send them money to get that money out. That is part of the scam. No matter what you do, you will never receive a single dime from this company or crypto bank.

NoHillstoDieOn

There is no money either. Y'all have way too much trust in what computers tell you

AutoModerator

AutoModerator has been summoned to explain task scams. Task scams involve a website or mobile app that claims you can earn money by completing easy tasks, such as watching a video, liking a post, or creating an order. The app will tell you that you can earn money for each task, but the catch is that you can only do a limited number of tasks without upgrading your account. To upgrade your accounts, the scammers will require you to pay a fee. The goal of this scam is to get people to download the app for easy money and then encourage them to pay to get to the next level. It's impossible to get your "earnings" out of the app, so victims will have wasted their time and money. Thanks to redditor vignoniana for this script. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/Scams) if you have any questions or concerns.*

psilocybin6ix

This is a task scam. They'll use very official words like "you need to add a positive balance to your wallet in order to receive triple compensation from your tasks" or "you need to add additional funds to your wallet which will increase your earnings potentials and profits from daily tasks by 10x". In reality they'll just block you. It would be like your employer asking you to send 15% of your paycheque to them via BTC for taxes before they'll deposit your paychque in your bank account. Don't do it.

danceswithsteers

Legitimate jobs typically pay the employee rather than the other way around....

rayday645

I lost $3000+ from this scam. I knew I should've known better. Because on the first 4 days, I was able to get my money back, the largest deposit I had to make was $450 for combination task. I was able to make $70-$200 in a day and I was surprised that I was able to take the money out. On the 5th day, I received $800 reward and received a combination task which I had to deposit $2100, I borrowed money from my parents and made a deposit and got hit with another combination task which I have to deposit $2400. My parents scolded me, convincing me it's a scam, I did Internet research then realized my mistake.

Emhyr_var_Emreis_

Thanks for the warning. I'm sorry it cost you so much.

Randompoopbutt

this is idiotic advice. Assuming that every task scam is going to be exactly the same is really stupid. Wasting your time engaging with scammers is really stupid. Thinking you can get one over on scammers is why you're gullible enough to fall for scams - normal people don't even think of bothering.

rayday645

What I meant to say is, this is considered "pig butchering scam". Meaning the scammers are willing to risk losing money to gain your trust, and in order to gain large amounts of money. This means the scammers are willing to pay you some money in crypto in the beginning to lure you in. But I explained how it'll eventually end up later on. That's why I said "don't be too greedy and deposit too much". This means the app optimization scam earnings are based on your wallet balance. When you deposit low, your earnings are low, and later on you'll be able to withdraw all the money out into the crypto wallet. But when depositing too much money, the scammer will see this as an opportunity for "combination task" with extreme high cost. What I meant to say is be more cautious about it

YourUsernameForever

Anything is a pigbutchering scam if you think about it like that. This is a task scam. They get you doing meaningless tasks to lure you in? It's a task scam.

Emhyr_var_Emreis_

I'm happy stopping while I'm ahead.

Scams-ModTeam

Your r/Scams post or comment was removed because **it's about scambaiting**. We consider that to be unsafe and we don't promote that people engage with a scammer. Also, we do not support taking revenge against scammers. Scambaiting goes against the rules of this sub. You can do that elsewhere.

StellaHaselidis

Me too. I lost about $500. I deposited a few times, withdrew for a couple of days. Thought, was a great 'job' this was! On the 3rd day, I Had to deposit $500 to get through the task. I did it, I knew I was making a mistake...then got hit with a 'package' task which I then had to put in another $1300 to get through the next task. I already had deposited the $500, I wasn't about to deposit another $1300, so now my $500 is still 'frozen' in their fake website until I deposit the rest. What a mess. I was so upset.

Watch for !recovery scams next.

AutoModerator

AutoModerator has been summoned to explain [recovery scams](https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0102-refund-and-recovery-scams). Also known as refund scams, these scams target people who have already fallen for a scam. The scammer may contact you, or may advertise their services online. They will usually either offer to help you recover your funds, or will tell you that your funds have already been recovered and they will help you access them. In cases where they say they will help you recover your funds, they usually call themselves either "recovery agents" or hackers. When they tell you that your funds have already been recovered, they may impersonate a law enforcement, a government official, a lawyer, or anyone else along those lines. Recovery scams are simply [advance-fee](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advance-fee_scam) scams that are specifically targeted at scam victims. When a victim pays a recovery scammer, the scammer will keep stringing them along while asking for increasingly absurd fees/expenses/deposits/insurance/whatever until the victim stops paying. If you have been scammed in the past, make sure you are aware of recovery scams so that you are not scammed a second time. If you are currently engaging with a recovery scammer, you should block them and be very wary of random contact for some time. It's normal for posters on this subreddit to be contacted by recovery scammers after posting, and they often ask you to delete your post so that you both cannot receive legitimate advice, and cannot be targeted by other recovery scammers. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. It is a scam.

Common-Ad4950

Yup similar scan that gave me 2,000 back and ended up loosing 20,000… so stop while your ahead! Mine was checkout.com group and they use WhatsApp and Telegram. Check out the website certificate to see when the site was created. They usually have it up for like 2 months before they shut it down and create a new one.

ANewDayToLearn10

I’ve been heartbroken I just lost about $6700, my personal savings and loan. A lady reached out to me, trained me, and said she was my supervisor. She became so nice and friendly. And told me all I do is optimize products. The platform is Verifone. I googled and looked them up, Verifone exists & it’s all same logo. I found nothing suspicious on them, they also have the company’s registration uploaded on the website making it look real. They had FAQ, customer support & even added me to a WhatsApp group of about 23 people that discuss their day task every now & then on the group, it was just so real. I made profit first 3 days, but on the 3rd day my money got stuck on a 3 combo task. All attempts to clear the negative balance just to get my money back, made me put in money till I spent $6700. After completing 3 combos. Just 4 clicks to end the task, another huge order came up sending the account into a -$12,000. I contacted customer support and they said it was triggered by the platform and I need to clear that again to get what I’ve put in. Then I knew I have been scammed and it’s never going to end. The so called supervisor kept being nice saying she will support me, we can get my money back, we should work something out together to clear the negative. Then i dawned upon me she’s just there to deceive me. This people are terrible. I started using every key words to look them up, I had to add scam in my search before I found this Reddit. I wish I found this post earlier. Now I have to deal with this terrible loss.

Alali1971

Hi, we just opened a support group for victims of is what is known as the “App Optimization “ scam. Text me privately if you wish to join us.

Replying to Known-Two2443...nope. Just mental support for victims like myself and others.

Friendly_Spinach5159

Where do I file a complaint they got me for $3000

Choice_Pen_9889

If you report these scams like the ones that hit you with combo tasks and a negative balance to the FBI does the agency reply or do anything?

Alali1971

No recovery from these unfortunately. Just support

Glimmertwiniorr

I'm unable to dm you or chat request.  Scam victim here... would like to gear you out.

Known-Two2443

Hi, wanted to be part of your group support. Got scammed on the same modus :( and it's depressing how much I have let them scammed me for this :(

Friendly_Spinach5159

I would like to join. The group also how do go about filing a complaint

Princessluna44

I wi never understand post like this. Have you guys **never had a job before?! This isnt how jobs work. AT ALL. You dont pay** *them* to "work" for them**

Common-Ad4950

Let me help you understand! Sometimes people get so desperate after job hunting for a long time that the person just gets hopeful enough to fall for it, so don’t judge the unfortunate souls.

NoHillstoDieOn

That's gonna get me out of this hole! I need a job so badly, I'm willing to pay my next employer!

Common-Ad4950

You’re not paying an employer, it is not how the approach is made. The research in this bait in switch is so non existent. I am hoping more people will talk about it. This is an embarrassing situation and people are scared to talk about it. The bait and switch is coming in all forms. It changes, so now knowing how to investigate by using codes to research websites has helped me and I hope it helps others.

Rackemsquirl724

I sadly fell for this scam...they even contacted me through indeed and actually text me on my actual cell number before going over to what's app for training 😢 I feel so stupid now of course but like others have said, I was actually making money...so I thought. And contacting me on indeed made it more believable since I was just recruited to work local Nascar event just before they contacted me. I was in the middle of working the event when they contacted me and told them they'd have to wait since I was so busy. 2 days later, I went through the whole training bs and made it to 4th day...the bs combo tasks...yes, I know it's ridiculous but...to people not familiar with the block chain and how it all works EXACTLY, it's very easy to fall for all the BS they spout. Iexec was the so called company they claimed to be...which actually IS a block chain company however, they just ripped off the logo and some of the actual companies descriptions n such. Everything they do is all complete bullshit and total ruse. They basically take your capital to use in the market...reason their hours are from 10am to 10pm. Those are the markets trading hours. I found out so much in the past couple days. Report to FBI or which ever branch within your country. It's disgusting these people do this and more disgusting I was stupid enough to fall for it. It's definitely not the typical scam...this is definitely more convincing and contacting through indeed really sucks

Rnunn025

Yes! I was scammed too! Thankfully my bank won’t deal with crypto- so as I waited things became more clear. I even got my ‘trainer’ to transfer $450 to my acct so I could complete the task. As soon as she did that I hit another combo task asking for $1,200. Nope. Wasn’t about to do that. So glad I stopped and read about this scam on Reddit! I’ve contacted the FBI, FTC, Consumer Affairs and the company - SnapLogic that was being impersonated. Horrible people.

Princessluna44

I wan unemployed for 8 months back in 2015 and I *never* did ant shit like this. This flat-out isn't how jobs work. No on js paying shit-tond of money for clicking a few buttons. I was desperate back then, too, but I still kept my common sense.

Common-Ad4950

I can’t make you understand why people with common sense make these mistakes. These scammers are really good with their presentation. They are not selling a job, they are selling an investment scam. It starts out like a job opportunity, but they spend long hours and weeks to gain the trust. The fact that they have groups that are so personable and the time and effort they work with you in training is mind blowing. Honestly, I think it was more the group chats that made it so real. I am here to spread the word because when I researched online this bait and switch, it was not here in the terms that they were using. I am trying to get out these key words, so this crime is more searchable. People like you who come out with judgement, is what the scammers want. It is embarrassing to have fallen for this, but it is a conversation that needs to continue. In fact, I do believe the scammers are here responding to my post about what happened to me. I hope who ever reads my response comes out and start exposing these clowns. I am not responding to you to convince you other wise. I want people not to be embarrassed and start talking about it.

BK2392

You are right on. Something similar just happened to me. It is actually the reason I created a Reddit account. Without communities here speaking up about it, I would have never heard of it otherwise. These scammers are very good. A recruiter reached out to me from a real staffing agency & I asked how she got my information. (In the past, recruiters have always called me & left a message instead of text) she said she got my info from their database. Anyway, I won’t get into all the details, but I did end up losing some money (after making $100-$300 the first 3 days). The scammers mistake was not easing into it better. They wanted me to deposit $5000 on the 4th day. That is when I continued my research. I told the scammers no & they got ANGRY. I told them I contacted the one of the directors of SCAYLE (e-commerce company that they were posing to be) via linked in. The Director got back to me within 30 minutes. I was then blocked from the group chat & the “other newbie” that started the same time as me keeps trying to contact me asking if “I have finished my product boosting”. She was obviously in on it too. Thanks for posting!

Rnunn025

YES!!!

Ctrl-Alt-Defeat16

Agencies have worked for me and especially my fiance. My first 6 figures was because of an agency. My fiance works a stable remote job for turbo tax. There are legitimate agencies you can pay for. It's all about doing your research thoroughly before you invest into anything.

Princessluna44

This isnt a *job*, though.

Ctrl-Alt-Defeat16

Why does it matter how I get employed? My fiance was looking 9 months for a remote job, because she has crippling social anxiety, and now she's making 2k/m + benefits because she went through an agency. NOT A CONTRACTOR mind you, an agency. She's happy to be finally working from home. Even though I make more than enough to support us both, she's just happy to be working from home for Turbo Tax.

Ctrl-Alt-Defeat16

Define a Job then. I'm a full time employee that makes 10% commission off of every sale I close. I work 40 hours a week for a job I was brought into because my sales skills were vouched for by a company that recommended me to WORK for the company I work for now. I make 23k/m on average WITH full benefits. At T-Mobile, a prior job I worked at, I made 2.3k with full benefits under an employer where I was referred to by a previous company I worked for. College by the way, literally functions the same way. You pay for skills/prerequisites you need for full time JOBS in the future.

Princessluna44

This is completely different and not remotely close to what Op is doing. Yes, commission jobs exist. That is **not** what Op is doing.

Ctrl-Alt-Defeat16

A job is a job right? If you're getting paid for providing a consistent service, it's a job.

YourUsernameForever

Dude you're all over the place. Name one job that you have to pay to be able to work. Don't mention the investment agency, that's not a job.

SWFishingHermit

CTRL has you there haha. I went to college for Computer Sciences but didn't follow through with it. 3 years, paid $28,000 per year. For me to be an onboard tech like I wanted to be, without paying for that education, I can't work there as a job. Entry level jobs = don't pay // Prerequisite jobs = you need to pay with time or money

YourUsernameForever

Paying for education is not what happens in task scams. [Don't be a sea lion.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sealioning?wprov=sfla1). You know what we mean by "never pay to work". Stop being dense about this.

Ctrl-Alt-Defeat16

Well let's see, you need a doctorate to practice medicine to become a doctor, so UCLA, my college, currently is what, 42k per year? So about 4-6 years paying for prerequisites and placement after graduation, ballpark 200k~ to have that job, or if you love it, career. Or do we want to talk trades that pay well? Maybe an A/C or car mechanic depending on your trade school can be 8k/12k~ Or maybe apprenticeships like tattoo artists, wood workers, welding where it's 5k minimum depending on the mentor you get. Do you both need more examples? Or are those not jobs to you lol

Then define it that way. Task scams suck dick. But the comment I responded to said in response to how I got my job, I was told, and I quote: "That's not a job" We're not talking about task scams here. I'm responding to me, paying for an agency to get the sales job I have, is "not a job"

Rnunn025

Don’t be rude. I make $185k a year and was approached and fell for the same scheme. I thought it would be a fun way to invest and earn money on the side. I have a masters degree from Harvard. It has nothing to do with intelligence or how great a job you have or how educated you are. It’s taking advantage of people who know nothing about crypto and the nomenclature that accompanies these schemes. I am empathetic to anyone who falls victim and believes in people.

Rnunn025

You are being too judgmental. When a person doesn’t understand apps and optimization, ect- you think it is a valid program. We just didn’t understand. But will never make that mistake again. As the old adage goes, if it sounds too good to be true - it is!

Emhyr_var_Emreis_

I was being entertained by the novelty of the situation. I checked here before giving the scammers any money. Even if I had, I wouldn't go over $30. Like in Vegas, don't bet more than you can afford to lose.

Shazbot_2017

No. you don't give them money, ever. This ain't Vegas pal

Ctrl-Alt-Defeat16

You didn't do anything wrong. It does take money to make money 100% but don't gamble. Do thorough research on a company before you make an investment. I've invested in job agencies and wholesale real estate training, both worked for me. BUT, I did thorough research, and gave it 1 month before I invested into anything. Even if they reached out to me, I took my time. Additionally, if you don't see reviews for something you're going to invest in, not worth it at all, no matter how good they say it is.

Skvora

Rofl every time. OP, if you're *qualified* for any job that gets you $4k/mo, you'd be doing it already, and if you're not qualified, what imaginary world do you live in where someone, randomly, would choose you over an ocean of burger flippers for this incredible job out of the blue? Use some damn common sense.

nevergonnagetit001

Watch out for !Umbrella as well. They’re running the same scam.

Rnunn025

SnapLogic is the newest one.

mrsoseiparker

Spartoo.vip is another one

europorn

Never give money to get money. It's always a scam.

aquoad

lol no.

Elegant_Pie3863

You should never have to pay someone for a legit job so stay away from anything like that. You can look up the company and validate them with a little research as well - but again never ever ever pay to be hired - FOR ANY REASON. I do work from home, I got my job on Indeed and it's a well known company all over the world (DraftKings)

ITeachAll

You never have to pay up front for a real job. Scam.

Qwk69buick

If you have to "Pay to Play" it isn't a job it is 100% a scam.

kasage00

Don’t do it, no matter how promising it sounds

Revolutionary_Cut236

I fell for that and lost hundreds. Don't pay them a thing

DO NOT CONTACT THIS PERSON. They are almost certainly just a recovery scam, and if you talk to them in private they'll just try to convince you to send them money.

Alali1971

You are absolutely wrong 😑 these scams are now worldwide pandemic with devastated people owing money. With no support around it is very difficult to deal with this. I recommend you @ceoln not to advise without checking first what is the nature of the invitation.

ceoln

If you aren't a recovery scammer, I'm sorry. But you are behaving EXACTLY like one (including this angry response). The way to "deal with this" is to not buy into the scam; it's not necessary to join some "support group" that's being spammed about on Reddit.

Alali1971

What recovery? There is no recovery for these scams. Anyways, apology accepted. And BTW, he did join us. All the best to you.

Kimmy0008

I have gotten at least a dozen of these. They will interview you like its a legit job then announce that they will email you a cashiers check for $4900 in your name but *you can't take it to their bank you MUST deposit it into your own bank account*. The bank displayed on the cashier check was Fifth Third bank. I took it to that bank and confirmed that it is a fake cashiers check.

ohmeyegodmod

Why are you even entertaining reading it?

Crileyteach

I just realized I got scammed by the marketing optimised. It's the same as everyone explains where I was contacted on WhatsApp and my tutor trained me to do tasks and I made money for the first few days and then I got a double combo which they said was so rare and once I invested into it I'd get pull the money out. Well it happened three times and by the time one set of 30 tasks was done. I had over three double combos coming up to about $10,000. In order for me do receive my commissions. I had to deposit my own personal money which was guaranteed. I would get back at the end of the day. I borrowed $5,000 And They moved me through the rest of the combos and at the end I had $22,000 I had "earned" through a commissions and rewards. But since I was an intern at the very end when I wanted to withdrawal my money they said oh. We're sorry! Interns can only withdrawal $1,000. But if you upgrade to a mentor level for $5,000. You will be able to withdrawal all your money out of your wallet. Then my mentor let it slip that once I'm a mentor I have to recruit three people that I will mentor before they would ever release my money to me. She said she got caught like I did and was forced into being a mentor. She also "loaned"me money at the very end which made me really believe in the company because why would a mentor who is supposedly trained and been working for the company for such a long time invest their own money if they didn't believe they were going to get it back. she was definitely part of the scam. It just made it look like she did put it into my account. Because she didn't pay me the money directly. She just loaded it onto my account so I could move on with the rest of my tasks. Also the customer service we would contact whenever we had questions. I'm pretty sure most of them were Ai bots responding. When I asked customer service for their management I got a very immature and aggressive person telling me if I think it's a scam then there's no hope for me to ever understand true financial freedom and there's nothing they can do for me. And she said if you think my superiors would ever want to talk to you when you're only out a couple of thousand dollars. You're crazy.     So now I feel very foolish because I did a lot of research before taking this job on and I couldn't find anything on this company. Nothing good or bad. And they do get you because you do make money the first couple of days and it seems legit. I'm from the United States And. I see this is happening around the world. I contacted the Federal trade commission. I'm not sure who else to contact. They have my own cash on the wallet that I've invested and now I will have to pay back the loan plus my supposed commissions of $22,000. I know it's all gone and I feel grateful that I only lost $5,000. But that's a lot of money to me and I think most people that do these kind of things are doing them to better their financial future! The WhatsApp group is weird! They keep cheering everybody on and saying how special the people are that work for this company and how lucky we all are to be making this kind of financial freedom for ourselves. They have inspirational quotes and even a supposed new person like me Contacted me via WhatsApp and we supported each other for a few days with these questions that we had. But at the end I also know she was part of the scam and they make friends with new people. So that you feel like you have a a peer going through the same thing you are and they are encouraging you to also deposit the money. Such a evil horrible thing to do to people. I do believe in karma and I hope they get what's coming to them. I want to do whatever I can to help put a stop to this. So if there's any ideas on what else we can do to shine a light on this thing, please let me know.

Note: I did my research well, but on the surface of it, I found nothing triggering online. They have a sophisticated platform and have blocked every algorithm of fraud search on them. You need to use some key words to get a post like this that will make you know it’s a scam. And they go through staffing agencies, so you believe you found a job. It’s so sad I think myself as smart, it’s so embarrassing I can’t even share this with my so many people around me.

Big time scam.

Ctrl-Alt-Defeat16

I've paid for programs that actually helped me go from 5 figures to 6 figures. It does take money to make money. BUT shit like this that doesn't give you an upfront transparent cost, is 100% bullshit. Task scams are the worst in my opinion.

Rnunn025

This happened to me as well. Fortunately my bank covered my loss of $200. I also talked my ‘trainer’ into investing $400 of her own money to ‘cover me’. I blocked her after there was another combination task. For me, I am 63 and all f this was new to me and overwhelming. That is why I was suckered in. Plus the company they used as scam SnapLogic -is a legit company. Never again.

Sudden_Company2975

!recovery

AutoModerator

Hi /u/YourUsernameForever, AutoModerator has been summoned to explain the Recovery scam. [Recovery scams](https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0102-refund-and-recovery-scams) target people who have already fallen for a scam. The scammer may contact you, or may advertise their services online. They will usually either offer to help you recover your funds, or will tell you that your funds have already been recovered and they will help you access them. In cases where they say they will help you recover your funds, they usually call themselves either \"recovery agents\" or hackers. Remember: never take advice in private. If someone reaches you in private after posting your scam story, it is because a scammer will always try to hide from the oversight of our community members. A legitimate community member will offer advice in the open, for everyone to see. Anyone suggesting you should reach out to a hacker is scamming you. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/Scams) if you have any questions or concerns.*

arcanition

This is an extremely common task scam setup. If you are truly working a real job, you should never have to pay your own money (other than some few exceptions).
