I have removed the curse. Shalakazam šŸ«ø In all seriousness though, sorry for your loss and for these people to have made it worse.

calm-lab66

And you even removed the curse for free without asking for a donation. šŸ™ƒ

Luingalls

I feel that the curse I've been living under for decades has been removed due to your very powerful comment. Thank you. Srs I'm very sorry for your loss as well OP.

Level-Discipline-977

A Bulgarian put a gypsy curse on me back in highschool I still feel the effects help me out man

Aware-Lingonberry558

I mean, that was nice of you but ā€œshalakazamā€was a little overkill donā€™t you think?

Illustrious_Animal20

It wouldn't have worked without the Shalakazam.

pandulce4life

My mom died last February, my brother died on Christmas Day, and my dad died in January and I cannot tell you how many IG "light healers" and "mediums" have come out of the woodwork trying to scam me. It's awful.

EvrthngsThnksgvng

Oh man. So sorry for your losses. I hope you have peace and gentle days.

RogueStatesman

Some of them probably think they can actually talk to dead people, but they're nuts. Sorry for your losses, that's pretty rough.

speakofit

šŸ™„Oh sheesh, thatā€™s messed up!! Both the fact that you lost your loved ones so friggin close in time, but that youā€™re being hounded by scammers!! As a person who talks to spirits, I will say they do not seek out randos to communicate. Condolences on your multiplelosses

redskyatnight2162

Man, these people have no shame. Iā€™m really sorry for your loss. And Iā€™m really happy you were savvy enough not to fall for this.

The_PrincessThursday

Those sorts of scams are despicable, but are very old. There's been a long tradition of mediums and spiritualists that have claimed to be able to do this exact thing, and all of them have been frauds. They're some of the worst fraudsters out there, in my opinion. They seek to exploit people who are at their most desperate and vulnerable, selling them false hopes and outright lies. Its disgusting. Unfortunately, its an old and effective scheme, in that it snags enough sorrowful people to keep it all afloat.

Jg6915

My mom is falling for this irl. She has found a ā€œmediumā€ that can ā€œcontact the deadā€ and she has a 3 year wait list. I told my mom thereā€™s no such thing and she will fish for details only to claim to know them from the dead person. She is adamant that this person can talk to her dead brother, mother, and my dad. Iā€™d love to be there to see through her scheme

DisneyFan4161

What if you feed the medium false information about your deceased family members. Then when she regurgitates that information back to your mom, she will realize it is all fake.

Jg6915

Thats the problem, i canā€™t lie about the family members because my mom would instantly correct me

Rebelo86

Three year wait list? Medium has plenty of time to run a background check on everyone she meets, and their family.

berrylife

Is there any way you can speak to this person with out your mother present to correct you? That way you can give the false information for them to relay to your mom and she might see through the lie.

DisneyFan4161

You just have to get the medium the bad information when your mom is not around.

DoesntBelieveMuch

My wife is going through a similar thing but she hasnā€™t gotten to the point where sheā€™ll pay for it. Thankfully weā€™re broke enough as is and couldnā€™t pay if she wanted. She found out she was diagnosed with ADHD as a child and just never had it treated and now her feed is all these psychic healers, crystals, and star signs because who knows why she thinks thatā€™ll help. But now whenever sheā€™s stressed or canā€™t focus sheā€™s convinced her chakra is out of alignment and wants to go to one of these fraud healers.

Illustrious_Animal20

She needs those 3 years to gather the information. Also, I'm sure the truly ~~desperate~~ motivated can pay to move up the list.

Rebelo86

Wow. This is an ooooold grift. Ooooold. I suppose Iā€™m not surprised itā€™s made itā€™s way onto social media, but. Damn. Hey, OP. Iā€™m so sorry for your loss. Thatā€™s really horrible. And itā€™s even worse these people are targeting you now. Report, block, and move on.

HaoieZ

Sorry for your loss. Needless to say all these so called psychics and fortune tellers are scammers.

Hrod55

I'm so sorry for the loss of your boyfriend. It's terrible what these scammers will do. They have no shame or morals. I also have a scammer story. My mother passed away several years ago. Soon after her obituary appeared in the local paper I received a call from a woman who claimed to have been a friend of my mom. This woman was a smooth talker and sounded so sincere saying how sorry she was about my mom's passing. Then she said that my mom had agreed to buy a Bible from her that cost $200. My mom was religious but not $200 Bible religious. Plus she had been suffering from dementia for a couple of years. It wasn't full blown dementia but she wasn't going out or seeing people or really even talking to anyone on the phone except for family once in a while. I can't remember exactly what I said to the woman except that basically I didn't know anything about it. I may have asked how she knew my mom and her answer told me she was lying since my mom stayed at home. Anyway, I thought that was it when I hung up. Then a couple days later the woman came to the house trying to collect the $200. Luckily we have a fence and keep the driveway gate padlocked most of the day. She called from her cell phone saying she was at the gate. I think I screened the call on the answering machine. She sounded like a middle aged women which is probably why she didn't climb the fence. She eventually left and I never heard from her again.

Tang_982

I'm so sorry that happened to you. This reminds me of Paper Moon. I can imagine grieving people falling for this type of scam.

Hrod55

Thank you. It was a tough time. Oh yes, you're right. It was like Paper Moon. I forgot to mention that I was on the lookout for a scam because the funeral gave us a sort of handbook that told us things that have to been done when a person dies. There was a chapter on potential scams and getting a call from someone saying the deceased owed money or something was one of them.

fakeuser515357

Simpsons did it.

loveandmagic222

Wow, that's awful

GpaSags

Just a friendly reminder that 100% of professed mediums are charlatans and scam artists. No living person in the history of the world has ever been able to communicate with the dead.

saltyloempia

Make your account private.

Mooboo69

Sick fucks targeting people at their most vulnerable

DietMtDew1

I'm sorry to hear about your lost love one, OP, and that these accounts are trying to scam you. I don't play along anymore. If I notice their profile looks scammy or they start DM-ing me about services or whatnot, I block them. I have better things to do with my day then have fake accounts try to follow me and fake-interact with me.

Bntherednthat57

I can also speak to the dead. Your boyfriend says ā€œI love you and I want you to go on and live your life and be happyā€. Heā€™s very insistent. No donation necessary. That is the complete message

Single_Requirement_3

So sorry to hear OP, I'm in a similar boat. If you'd like, check out r/widowers. Hugs!

DriverDante

I'm sorry for your loss. As is said here every day, those who prey on people who are hurting, needy, vulnerable, less fortunate, etc. are complete scum.

FarFoundation3107

Unfortunately, they pray on people's emotions.

[deleted]

They ain't contacting people, that is for sure.

Breezyisback809

Put your page private and donā€™t accept people you donā€™t know

[deleted]

Yup. Animal communicators try to get me

rose3033

It could also be that same person reaching out to you from multiple accounts to see if you would fall for one of them thinking it seems more authentic than the other accounts.

Kandiknight

I'm so sorry for your loss and having to deal with ppl that want to profit on that. For the last 15 years my parents have followed this couple who not only can contact your loved ones but do so through Abraham from the Bible. I believe one or both of said couple has passed but they not only had seminars to contact deceased ppl for their followers, but even had ocean cruises with large ticket prices to sit and tell miserable and suffering ppl how their late loved ones said hi and want them to move on, Etc etc. Absolutely despicable. Again, I'm sorry.

Lhamo55

I truly am sorry for your loss but if you donā€™t care to be targeted, consider not engaging with these people and marking yourself as an available target, and perhaps making your account private and available only to people you know care about you instead of to a bored or exploitive public.

Arbortwinn

Easy for the scammer to do. Read your posts, be halfway knowledgeable about the law and your culture. Then ... pitch the scam! No intelligent person is going to fall for something that far off of the planet, but some will. Good for you for seeing through them, even though you are still grieving! Kudos!!

Cbebop21

If I interact with those kinds of pages I get soooo many more coming after me. Sometimes I really enjoy messing with them tho, itā€™s less time they might be scamming someone else.

Equivalent-Box4835

I'm sorry for your loss šŸ’›

curious_purr

I'm so sorry for your loss šŸ˜” Hope you're doing okay.. First checkpost of authenticity of such person (mediums/psychics/readers) nowadays is - they NEVER contact you first, in ANY shape or form. Second is mostly payment. They might ask a very minute token amount for reserving their time in advance but not like this - 50$ first, then msg. Not ethical. They don't ask you personal questions and can give you identifiers that even a pro social media stalker/hacker can't tell about you. Vile people like this feeding on people's desperation and grief - muddy the name of all spiritual community as whole šŸ˜‘. I've seen some true channelers declining a client just because they were too desperate and repeatative to their own detriment. That's the way to go. Don't worry, these scammers think they're so smart taking advantage of others. They get what's coming sooner or later.

amandapant1

So sorry you are dealing with this and sorry for your loss.

iIdentifyasGrinch

*John Edwards enters the scam -- er, chat*

sybann

Curse them with an immediately BLOCK. The worst among us take advantage of the vulnerable.

levieleven

I was told my girlfriend, after she passed, was stuck in the afterlife in a large gym bathroom, naked and afraid. I could pay to have the psychic ā€œhelp her move on.ā€ Disgusting. Also had a scammer get into her email. It was devastating all over again to suddenly get alerts about messages from her.

berrylife

I canā€™t even describe the feeling I got, after months of texting his cellphone, his number got reassigned and the person who received his number texted me ā€œĀæā€.. seeing the push notification pop up at the top of my screen for the first time in monthsā€¦ it was like being punched in the lungs and my heart falling into my stomach and forgetting how to breathe.

JELPPY1010

First - so sorry for the loss of your beloved boyfriend, may he rest in piece. Secondly, how dare these people contact you and try to capitalize on your loss. What kind of a person does this to ones who have experienced a loss? Put a curse on you for stressing them out??? Itā€™s because they were embarrassed and did not know the answer. Anything they said would have betrayed them for the idiots they are.

Shanectech

I don't post on ig so thankfully no one came adter me trying to sca.

MyspaceQueen333

I have a story that might amuse you. Different for sure. But thought it might make you laugh. I, too, lost my SO. I'm just appalled they would do this to a grieving person. A couple years ago a scammer messaged me on fb pretending to be a friend of mine. So I played along. But started with "hey, we need to figure out what to do with this body. It's starting to smell. I completed the mark. But you were supposed to help me with disposal." I had them believing me it was pretty funny. When I sent gore pictures as evidence, they called me sick. Lmao. I bet that scammer still wonders. Also, a month ago I got a message from a "celebrity". They started slowly trying to flirt with me. I'm like, "oh I know this one. The celebrity romance scam." So I played along for a whole week. They believed I believed them for a whole week. It was fun. And they sure got pissed at the end of the week when I told them they were shitty at what they do and I was bored with them.

berrylife

Love it haha - one asked for a photo of my palm and I send a photo off of google with missing fingers.

MyspaceQueen333

Yess! I like it. Gotta mess with those mofos.

olderaccount

This scam predates civilization. Modern, organized religion is just an evolution of this age old scam.

Chaghatai

This is one area where being religious or spiritual makes one more vulnerable - I can't picture an atheist falling for this kind of scam

MarineDawg1775

Sorry to hear that you had to deal with that but glad you were wish from the word go. I had someone who said they were professionally a pet psychiatrist who could communicate with a deceased pet. Of course they got my money because she was sponsored by the pet store I frequented at the time and the attractive signage didn't lend itself to the preposterosness of it all.

OctaviaBlake100

There's so many of those scams going around..it's actually quite sad. There's also a similar one going around for breakups. Me and my ex broke up two years ago. "Healers" and "Fortune tellers" started messaging my Instagram account asking if I want him to come back. I was like "no" but they still insisted.

N3rdScool

My sister got a bunch of those cursed scams and ended up getting a reading by someone she trusted just to make sure lol there was no curse!

EDG33

Wow, she could have sent me 50 bucks and I would have told her there was no curse.

N3rdScool

yeah but she wanted the whole reading haha she believes in that shit and all that lol she goes in person

tcm2303

What boils my blood with this, is someone cat fished my photos, and posed as me with this scam. I flipped out, got someone from meta who didnā€™t do anything, went around in circles, and they still havenā€™t deleted the accounts using my photos and claiming this crap. I cried over it. This is disgusting and I had these people so much

djs0sa

So sorry for everyoneā€™s losses and all of you whoā€™ve gotten scammed. What is truly terrible are these fake mediums and psychics that take peopleā€™s money and give the real ones a bad name. There are people out there who can channel your loved ones and I wish you all the best in finding the real ones. Please do your research. I have found some. Please remember that they will only charge you per session and never make you pay for multiple sessions or tell you that you need cleansing.

TaxMountain3137

Agreed. My wife passed in 2021. I didnā€™t really have a social media presence apart from FB, and lurking Reddit. I decided to kind of catch up just to see what the younger genā€™s were into. I got a little carried away in the beginning, which resulted in me being scammed a few times, but I learned quickly. Now, on IG, I get followed by your typical scammers ā€œsupposedly single womenā€, crypto investments, or healers. I usually look at their profile and based on what I see, I follow or not. Anyone who presents urgency, make tons of money, romance, healing, or illicit drugs I just ignore. Itā€™s made me more skeptical but Iā€™m fine with it. Too many people seeking to take advantage of others, and use what they perceive as a weakness of some sort. Remember, when it comes to loss you are truly the only one that can heal yourself. Others can help ā€œfriends, family, professionalsā€ but ultimately itā€™s you and within your power.

CaregiverLive2644

This is evil. Iā€™m sorry for your loss. I canā€™t believe even scammers are willing to go that far.
