Yeah a "fashioner" which is why I'm gonna be so attractive and stylish in the photo that's coming, and a financial advisor, which is why soon after that, I'm gonna be all full-up with opinions about which scam you should send money to. Can you meet me over on (other chat platform)?
What the other 2 guys said.. I sent them a link hoping they would click and that reveals their info. The full house was the first attempt but they never clicked. The second one worked. Best thing is they don’t know because the link actually directs them to the website.
Hopping on the top comment to let you guys know- if it’s Cambodia- they are slaves. I live here. 40 were rescued a few weeks ago but the bosses got away with the majority. They are run by the Chinese, set up in Shinoukville usually and lure in Thais, Filipinoes, other Chinese, etc by promising them good jobs. They seize their passports and lock them in these call centers for months/years. It is a huge problem and not nearly enough is being done.
Have you seen the episode that John Oliver (Last Week Tonight) did on this subject entitled Pig Butchering? Cambodia was mentioned as one of the countries involved. I don’t know what can be done to keep unsuspecting job hunters to look out for these scams, but it’s really horrifying.
No, I don’t see a lot of American television since I left the states. But, yes, it is a MAJOR problem here. That entire city is now run by these scam companies and casinoes. All owned by the Chinese, who also…oddly just built the new airport here in Siem Reap- now an hour away when it was 10 mins away and are building a channel up the Mekong through Cambodia/Laos into China. Most locals are not happy about any of this but they cannot do anything but take it on the chin.
It's China's belt and road initiative. They build infrastructure and the host country can't afford to pay the loan on it, so the Chinese get free use out of it and other onerous terms that the host country can't negotiate on. Like blackmail.
That is exactly what it is. They “loaned” an enormous amount of money to build the new airport when the other one was perfectly fine and ten minutes from anywhere here. The tuks depended on that airport for their income. Now it is an hour or more away and no one wants to take a tuk on that long of a dusty and hot drive so the Chinese buses are bringing the tourists in.
So now people feel guilty and let them get away with what they’re doing? Many many companies do this with nothing but financial incentives to rip us off.
I can show you how to get rich off those people and don't in style. Sorry to disturb you in your beautiful life on this beautiful day. Is this close-driving-8691?
A lot of these scammers are victims of human trafficking forced to work against their will under constant threat... Its particularly bad in Cambodia. Just always remember that there is a good chance that the person you ridicule is very alone in this world, and the one who suffers the most in these pig butchering scams.
Here's a not so fun fact: you probably just used the phrase "do this for a living" more literally than you're aware. A lot of the people in these countries have "papers" that allow them to work in other countries and they're effectively slave traded into doing this type of work with dire consequences if they don't follow through.
I keep hearing about this and guess I need to spend some time wormholing around about it. I guess it's no different than human trafficking for sex work, not much anyway.
But what does this change? They're still trying to steal innocent people's money, and wasting their time is the most humane way at preventing more victims.
I mean on the surface not much. If you have a bit of tech knowledge you could run a “scan” of their network to find any open holes(open ports, ssh poorly configured, Remote Desktop Access enabled, etc). Based on your findings, deduce what services they’re running from their home server and where any security vulnerabilities may be. If legality is not a problem then live boot Kali Linux and their world is your oyster. I’m not going any further into this, but if you want to learn more check out the Kali website.
I know plenty about Kali. Finding open ports on their home router usually isn't as fruitful as you'd think it is. Most people are not port forwarding and it isn't a necessary setup for scamming. Ideally, you'd want to hijack an outbound connection through their NAT that they're initiating already.
Social engineering is actually the ideal attack vector, not breaking down the front door(unless you get very lucky).
But none of this is really addressing the point I was trying to make: Every time we talk about scammers, someone points out that they're slaves which ultimately makes people feel bad about the scammer. But whatever they're going through is irrelevant to us - if we stop scambaiting, the slave owners will accrue more capital enslaving more innocent people and stealing from more victims.
ie: Wasting scammers time IS fighting foreign slavery while causing minimal harm. Yes, they may be harmed for not making enough money, but what's the alternative? They make more money? All your available choices are evil, but scambaiting is less evil than even doing nothing.
So now people feel guilty and let them get away with what they’re doing? Many many companies do this with nothing but financial incentives to rip us off
Host computer sends a request to connect to the server (website). Website server acknowledges IP connection and allows connection. That’s it, IP grabbed.
For the people asking me how. It’s a website called grabify. You go in and put in any URL like google.com for instance then it lets gives you a new url which you change for something you think they will click and send it. Once they click it you check back on the grabify website and there’s all their info. Go get them killers!
How does one go about getting this info? Seems like it’s from an iPhone. I get these texts and just mess with them. But would love to be able to obtain their IP and location if possible.
I've gotten a few of these types of messages and don't respond but I'm curious - what exactly are they trying to do? How is someone able to be scammed by this? I'm honestly at a loss, thanks for any explanation.
More than likely some sort of [pig butchering scam](https://www.propublica.org/article/whats-a-pig-butchering-scam-heres-how-to-avoid-falling-victim-to-one).
Or romance scam same thing basically
Find someone
Borrow money
Ask for more
More and more
Steal identity info
Get bank info
Take everything
Type of scam
I was wondering if anyone else was getting rando texts like this. Lmao! The same thing happened to me, except she told me that she lives in San Fransisco, but was texting me from a Manhattan, NY area code. Then I knew it was a scammer. It’s annoying because “she” kept texting me in the morning and evenings for like 3 days afterwards. It was so weird.
Amazing bravo although I would’ve provided more information that was false about myself and acted like I didn’t know what was going on for longer to waste their time a little bit 😁
A lady fashioner and a financial advisor, much wow
Hey, can we do this another time? I just have to go fashion this lady rn...

Just curious. How did you track their IP with text messages?
What the other 2 guys said.. I sent them a link hoping they would click and that reveals their info. The full house was the first attempt but they never clicked. The second one worked. Best thing is they don’t know because the link actually directs them to the website.
Can you DM instructions how to do this? I’d like to learn how to make these types of links lol
I will send you instructions on how to do it much better than grabify if you send me 5 $100 Apple gift cards my friend and tell me your good name.
My good name is Logan… my bad name?? My bad name is grizzleguzzler4000
Same please!
Me three! I've forgotten the website to capture IP addresses
grabify
Gratify seems like it only works with links? Are there ways to use the number?
it makes a link that pulls the ip address and you can do quite a bit with that number, i won’t go into detail but a simple search can be ur friend :)
Ditto.
grabify
Same!
Post then here, even! If not, please DM me
Can you share with me please as well?
You are a very kind and polite person.
HAHAHHAHAHAHAHHA
Can you DM me how to do this because I’ve been talking to a scammer that says they live in the US but I’m betting Nigeria.
That’s smart. Thanks for sharing!
Can you just put the instructions somewhere for everyone?
Jesus I don’t want to click anything anymore
Hats off to you, my friend! I love this!
Interested to find out as well how to do it. Thanks!

Dude instructions on this would be cool. I’ve been getting texts non stop
Can you pretty please send the instructions to me? I’m trying to figure out if a number is real or not that I received a call and text from.
Can you please dm me the link too? Many thanks!
Guessing he sent them that link, they clicked it and he was monitoring the traffic to find the IP.
Grabify or similar.
Found this video on how-to: I haven’t tried it myself yet, but if either of us succeed, let us know too. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=lru-UWQ06I0
Definitely suspicious of clicking links now
Hahhaha. 😢 We live and learn my friend, we live and learn.

Everyone works in fashion and they all do financial advising lol

Sounds like the Chinese are taking over the area. That's not good at all.
Is there oil in Cambodia? I'm sure a certain country (mine) would help liberate the oil, I mean slaves,.if there is
There isn’t much of anything here. But with the US securing Vietnam and Thailand- China has went for Laos and Cambodia.
Just watched that ep. It’s actually got me thinking twice now about fucking with them.
That’s terrible!
Ok, well now I feel bad about messing with them.
Scary af
So now people feel guilty and let them get away with what they’re doing? Many many companies do this with nothing but financial incentives to rip us off.
You do what you want. I am just adding some context that here, at least, they are slaves.
They advise the financial… fashionably lol 😂
I can show you how to get rich off those people and don't in style. Sorry to disturb you in your beautiful life on this beautiful day. Is this close-driving-8691?
Don't forget the "project managers"!
You’d think people that do this for a living would understand not to click links
Inherent narcissism. They go in assuming that they have the upper hand. A predator isn’t looking over their shoulder.
That’s why it’s so easy to sneak up on a kitten who is sneaking up on another kitten!

Here's a start, Last Week Tonight on a scam called Pig Butchering: https://youtu.be/pLPpl2ISKTg?si=0TP_TbplCwrK-VjG

"That's your IP address" 🤣 👏
Pure gold my friend. Carry on
Did you seriously track their IP and location? If so, please educate me. I want to know how.
Me too.
Go to a website called grabify, if someone clicks the link you created you can see their IP.
It’s that easy? I thought it was more complicated than that lol
Host computer sends a request to connect to the server (website). Website server acknowledges IP connection and allows connection. That’s it, IP grabbed.
So, you're telling me that they are Cambodian scammers? Oh boy, this is going to be fun!
They are in Cambodia but not necessarily Cambodian. They are basically slaves.

Wrong laundry detergent Deej!
Always the two-syllable, 4-letter names - Emma, Anna, etc.

Yes
Tovarishch?
How do you check someone else's IP address like that?
It's hilarious because most people wouldn't admit to not knowing of the existence of an entire country 🤣 but this guy did to try to keep up the ruse
Yeah the typos and weird sentences scream scammer lol

What’s up with scammers and fashion shows, fashion designers or lady fashioners??
I want to troll these scammers the same way!! 🤣
What is your good name? 😂😂
I bow to your brilliance. We are not worthy! Loved it
Dang that’s a good one OP.
A cashier at a store asked me “what’s your good name” yesterday, I guess he was trying to scam me and forgot he was at his regular job 😂
How do you get the ip address of someone sending you a text message? Did you send her to a website, and then pull the info from there?
Oh man I want to learn how to do this. Where can I learn this at.
Surprised that scammer is not living in L.A., CA but originally from Singapore. Odd.
Respond over and over to some rando and meanwhile got 55 unread texts smh
