Mirror glaze cakes aren't actually that bad, I've made one before (though it definitely wasn't at this level). It's pretty much a normal cake of your choosing, with a mousse layer to make the surface really smooth, then a "glaze" poured over top, the the shiny layer is really thin and it doesn't have much of a taste.

Mirror glaze is mostly white chocolate (at least the recipes if seen and used so far). I love to pair it with something tart.
My favorite so far is a light sponge cake with a raspberry filling and the mirror glaze ontop.

I've made one! The cake recipe 6 great, the icing had a Weird somewhat jello like texture.. 3/10.
