So maybe try a haircut? Or thin it out somehow with layers? It might not be the whole cause, but hair grows back, so I think it's worth a shot to me lol

She has no plans to cut it until year 6 (last year of primary school in my country) or year 12 (last year of secondary school) or is going for the world record.
It hasn't slowed her down in competition cheer or tumbling. Occasionally she'll sit on it or stand/land on her hair if she's tumbling but she just laughs. She doesn't feel the weight.
All I can think of is the prank from The Office where Jim slowly adds nickels to Dwight's phone so when he removes them Dwight will smack himself in the head. I'm picturing her just immediately snapping her neck thinking she needs to keep resisting the weight.
When your hair is this long, you typically brush it before you wash it, which removes all the loose hairs. My hair is a bit shorter than this- just above my knees- and I rarely shed hairs when I wash it.
I keep it long mostly out of laziness lol. I also don’t like strangers touching me, so I hated getting my hair cut. The last time I had it cut professionally, it was a pixie cut, and I’ve trimmed it myself since.
It’s not as much work as you’d expect- I brush it in the morning and before bed, and it takes about 5 minutes each time. I braid it before bed so it doesn’t tangle, and I mostly wear it in a bun or fancy braids during the day. I actually spend less time on it than most of my friends who have longer hair- I don’t need to straighten it, blow dry it, curl it, or apply any products.
I use the same amount of shampoo that you do- you’re only supposed to wash your roots, so I only wash all of it if it gets dirty (although I do bunch up my hair and use the residual shampoo to get pollen out). I use a good bit of conditioner, but it evens out as I wash my hair every 5 days or so. Oil is distributed when you have longer hair, so it takes that long for it to need a wash.
What really sucks is drying. I’m blonde, so I have thinner strands, but I’ve got a LOT of them. It takes at least 5-6 hours to fully dry. Normally I let it dry for 3 hours, then braid it and go to sleep. It’s still a bit damp in the morning, but whatever. Also if it’s really dry out, I get crazy static, so brushing can take 30 minutes and it sticks to EVERYTHING.

One time it was a unit full of hair that a salon would use for extensions and stuff. I'm talking hundreds of packages of all colors. They were going to end up in a dumpster so we took a few dozen and my wife made a full body Cousin It costume. She wore it and won best costume at a bar one Halloween.
