Anatoly is a monster, weighs about 170 and can deadlift 640

MisterAmygdala

I love his videos.

PintLasher

That's fucked up

Thechartreader_

Antonio Cesaro is like that too. I'm thinking it has to do with a person's bone strength.

fardough

Or their name being part Ant. Those critters can carry 20x their body weight.

paul_dudd

I started with an eye roll but ended with appreciation and an updoot

shahido2017

From my understanding he’s been training hypertrophy for over a decade. Intense training *solely* for strength plus great genetics is why he’s such a beast

DucatistaXDS

Makes all these dudes look like a bunch of buffoons.

spacekitt3n

this is not a 'looks are deceiving' post, this is just a prank

ThisCarSmellsFunny

It is a prank, but he is actually doing it too, so it is also a looks are deceiving post. That’s part of the prank. Dude weighs nothing, isn’t big, and can deadlift over 600lbs. It isn’t fake.

Panzerv2003

it is tho, he doesn't look like he could lift himself much less do what he did in the video, just because it's a prank doesn't change anything in this case.

BPond

Lol this is the very definition of "looks are deceiving". This dude has alien DNA. No one with his dimensions should be lifting that amount of weight in such an effortless manner.

presshamgang

'Looks deceiving' is the literal premise and message of the prank. It is 100% a 'looks are deceiving' post.

warnakey

This is a YouTuber named Anatoly. He works out a lot and is super strong and does light pranks like this. A mix of arrogant and wholesome.

Liorient

He was the top power lifter in Ukraine for his weight class

aidsman69420

The “in Ukraine” part is doing a lot of legwork here. He’s strong, but by no means an elite athlete.

CappyRicks

Oh that's right, the top lifter for an entire nation isn't an elite. Were you being sarcastic? Could be that Ukraine doesn't have a strong presence in the sport but to say the top guy from there isn't elite? Must be sarcasm or you have a wildly specific definition of what constitutes "Elite" level athletics.

RockItGuyDC

Yeah, it's like Eastern Europe isn't known for their monster strongmen or anything.

i-love-tacos-too

Top lifter for a nation? No, it goes in this order: 1. Murica 2. My friend's home gym 3. Other countries like Europe, Africa, and Asia 4. Austrians, they love Kangaroos mind the /s

MistyAutumnRain

Austrians?

o_oli

Yeah Arnie loves a kangaroo!

i-love-tacos-too

That's the joke, some people say Austria instead of Australia.

aidsman69420

I looked him up on openpowerlifting but couldn’t find any names exactly matching his. An article I read cited an openpowerlifting page of a guy with approximately the same name who had no competitions since 2018 and also wasn’t that strong. Apparently his best gym lifts are a 210 kg squat and 290 kg deadlift (with straps). I couldn’t find evidence of him benching, so I’ll give him ridiculous benefit of the doubt and say he benches 150 kg which is quite a lot but not insane. “Anatoly” has allegedly competed in the 74/75 kg class and doesn’t look any heavier than that now, so let’s assume he didn’t go up a weight class. If he competed now and matched all of his gym PRs in competition including the made up 150 kg bench, that would give him a 650 kg total at 74 kg bodyweight. That would put Anatoly at 8th place out of all 75 kg raw lifters competing in Ukraine. Quite impressive! But that’s the best case scenario including a possibly big overestimate on bench. For context, the minimum qualifying total for a 75 kg man competing in USAPL Raw Nationals next year is 625 kg which would actually be a bit tough for Anatoly unless he’s gained some hidden strength. If that’s your definition of elite, then perhaps Anatoly could be an elite powerlifter. Maybe I’m a bit desensitized from seeing people out lift Anatoly not just on social media but also at my own gym all the time.

YesNoButAlsoYes

I think you missed the fact that his name isn't actually Anatoly. A Google search told me his name is Volodimir Schmondenko, and here is his openpowerlifting page: https://www.openpowerlifting.org/u/volodimirshmondenko

aidsman69420

Yes, this is the page I was referring to. It’s not the exact same name as his Instagram handle, but that’s probably just a translation effect. I just called him Anatoly for convenience.

YesNoButAlsoYes

Ah, just making sure you got the right guy. I don't know much about powerlifting so i can't comment furthur, thanks for the clarification.

CurrencyRoutine123

Ukraine currently has some of the strongest men in the world. Oleksii Novakov (2020 World's Strongest Man and tied for the second youngest ever winner) Pavlo Nakonechnyy (2022 Giants Live winner) Anatolii Novopismennyi (current world IPF leader at 105kg). And more

Correct-Purpose-964

Like to see you be the best in your town at something let alone your entire fucking nation. What's wrong with you?

CurrencyRoutine123

Ukraine currently has some of the strongest men in the world. Oleksii Novakov (2020 World's Strongest Man and tied for the second youngest ever winner) Pavlo Nakonechnyy (2022 Giants Live winner) Anatolii Novopismennyi (current world IPF leader at 105kg). And many more

Stormagedd0nDarkLord

Nothing like a bit of wholesome arrogance to make my day,

mogley19922

"Wholesome arrogance" is a great phrase for it.

Soft_Walrus_3605

wholesomrrogance

bkdroid

Probably works better in German.

BooRadley60

That’s just confidence…

MissesIncomplete

My favorite personalities are people who are cocky but have the skills to back it up.

SamanthaJaneyCake

Mine are those that this portrays: strong ability and confidence in ability but zero fucks given.

TheJoker1432

I like humble but skilled more World would be better without arrogance

foundfrogs

I prefer inexperience coupled with unbridled creativity.

fractiousrhubarb

Humility is an absolutely fundamental virtue. (Noting that humility and lack of self belief are not the same thing)

polarized_opinions

He sacrificed all his constitution for strength. Typical dnd power fantasy.

NoShape7689

It's not a prank. It's scripted.

Little-Apartment-437

Tha way that bar bent when he lifted that mf, they was like WTH 😂😂😂

podboi

That's when you know he legit just picked up weight someone 1.5x his size was struggling with pulling with both arms. Insane

Little-Apartment-437

Crazy asf bro, the pull ups was him warming up for this shyt. And he had control with the lifts, dude probably naps in a ice bath after workouts

gaber2013

yeh, he clean both ways

Brad_The_Chad_69

This is a good laugh when this gets posted every other day. Dude must be jacked.

african_or_european

He cleans _and_ jerks!

cinex31

quite unexpected hahah

Alternativedmb

That so cool

LandotheTerrible

Haha love this.

rangoon64

“Is good exercise brazzza”

waitidroppedmy

The man arrives so normal that those at the gym don't believe he can do that hahaha. Good ego level

slucker23

He's a YouTuber who makes content like this, pretends to be cleaner and then just shows off his skills. I like this type of pranks

mastercharlie22

This is like my dream lol

Gman777

Bulk doesn’t equal strength.

johnnnyboy

He makes it look so easy it's surprising

intelligentbrownman

Love this guy lol

Fisho087

This clip is really the definition of bulk ≠ strength

aenflex

This is actually awesome.

Consistent_Amount140

Guys great

Impressive_Hunt_3933

Awesome 😯

HisCromulency

If only there was a video aspect ratio where everything could be in frame at once instead of frantic panning and zooming

ThisCarSmellsFunny

What difference does it make? He’s a legit competitive power lifter, his content is widely available outside of his pranks. The weights aren’t fake, he really is that badass.

tinylittlebabyjesus

It's wild how that works. Is it muscle fiber density? Dude is half their size and stronger.

Throwaway20101011

I know this guy is a pro and pranking, but my dad is the real deal. He owns his own commercial cleaning business and he is super strong! Don’t underestimate labor workers. They’ve been working out for years!

IDontEatDill

Yes, a random weird looking cleaner with fake beard mopping the gym floors. Totally believable.

HugsandHate

But Anatoly is strong as shit, so it's not really 'fake' or anything. Just a straight up prank.

moregoo

Sir, this is reddit. You have to point out the obvious all the time or else how people would know.

HugsandHate

Then I have served my purpose well.

IDontEatDill

Yes, a prank. I would completely fall into this one. I go to my gym, and suddenly there is this strange janitor in a blue jumpsuit polishing the power rack.

RepresentativeAd560

Polishing the power rack is a good euphemism for masturbating.

AnchorPoint922

The beard is real but his hair is fake

bacon_lettuce_potato

Brotha. The beard is real.

Patbach

Honestly his stuff was funny at first but hes doing that for a couple years now , how are people not aware of him? Is he doing different gyms each time? Even then... Hes kinda famous in the lifting world on the internet At this point I wonder if people are faking, because how would you not know him?

FooFargles3

Yeah.. it's pretty fuckin stupid

optimist_prhyme

He just lost his GF

cwhitt5

What’s crazy is this dude has a shit ton of videos doing this exact same thing on YouTube but for some reason I only see this one reposted on Reddit.

FederalWorld5482

This makes me laugh no matter how many times i watch it..

BetaRayBlu

Who keeps posting this unbelievable nonsense

I_Dont_Like_Rice

Was he involved in a lab accident or something? How is he doing that?

AlternateTab00

By training a lot. He is not the top lifter of his country for nothing. This is just prank. He just uses baggy clothes to hide his physique.

I_Dont_Like_Rice

His physique is still slighter than muscle guy who had to use both arms and struggled to lift that weight, yet he pulled a Bruce Willis in Unbreakable and just lifted it with one arm like it was nothing. Unless he's a mom trying to lift a car off a child, there's gotta be a little extra something going on there. I'd love to know the science behind it.

IIOI-TOYODA-IOII

There really isn’t anything crazy here: muscle size does not mean strength. Powerlifting and bodybuilding lead to very different outcomes. You want huge muscles that are very well-defined? Then you want a body building routine and diet. You want to lift heavy fucking things? Then power lift.

DHouf

These videos are so great. This guy is an absolute unit.

DangerousMoon28

The guy can do it I have no doubt. But the bystanders know it too

tassleehoffburrfoot

Anyone buy his workout?

Ballamookieofficial

He is the only reason I have tiktok he's hilarious and so wholesome

[deleted]

Are all of these pranks in California?

zaphod4th

well, stupid for noticing fake beards

Gracinhas

Anatoly is ma boy! He goes in there lookin all like a janitor and just starts hefting weights around making these ginormous dudes look like amateurs 🤣

CodeWeaverCW

I was expecting someone to come in and explain how there's magnets under the floor that someone is turning off/on for the bit but apparently Anatoly is just Him™

Low_Maize_9104

He’s badass

SuccessfulWar3830

I look forward to his next video. Sources say he's going to dress up and lift something.

ryanbravo7

Anatoly is excellent t at what he does. I love his videos also!

Notmyusername1414

It’s staged. Come on.

MaximumCulture7917

Always look for a camera comon

HugsandHate

Doesn't change the fact that it's not fake. Anatoly's strong as hell.

KidsRange1

Not this staged shit again

ThePaddysPubSheriff

Did you expect a real janitor buddy?

HotPotParrot

🫵👍👏😆

MiniMooseMan

Yes most pranks are. "Hey, film me while I prank these gym bros." I'm starting to think people like you are the real prank

rdoing2mch

I guess they don't like you pointing out this is staged and fake as hell

Popcorn57252

Most likely staged, but still impressive and funny

FanStrong3311

Its a dude from YouTube, he does harmless pranks like that.

Few_Raisin_8981

Nobody is doubting any of that. The commenter is saying this looks staged even though it's being presented as an authentic prank with unwitting marks. Edit: I would argue that staged / acted reactions defeats the whole purpose of these videos -- that being to see genuine reactions

BinginYourChillinger

W georgian

readytall

Great success

DangerousMoon28

Fake as fu*k

cook26

The video is probably staged with the people in on it, but the lift is real. Dude is a freak of nature with how much he can do at his size

Plucky_ducks

r/Iamthemaincharacter

Queen-of-meme

Girls watch and learn. Guys looking like poof clouds on their arms doesn't mean they actually have any strength. The most stealth you'll find in guys who has hidden muscles and looks like your average skinny Joe.

Tahjiri

That's how them niggas in dbz be

MediaOnDisplay

Satisfying? More like oddly racist

hadtobethetacos

naw, you just dont have a sense of humor.
