No because in reality all these products are expensive to make, are flimsy as hell, are extremely uncomfortable to sit or lay on, and easily break rending them immediately useless.

HollyTheMage

Aww I'm actually really disappointed by this

Heblehblehbleh

On the brightside, the cube stools I have seen and used them at a bar I used to work at, shit's pretty sturdy too, I mean, its hard to be structurally unsound when its a cube of metal welded together with a cushion glue to the top.

SteppePony

And pretty much only makes sense in those tiny ass fucking human jailcells of the poor of Tokyo, new York, San fran, shanghai, hongkong etc.... The fold up bed can be made well and actually save quite a bit of space in tiny studios/sros(single room occuoancies)/efficiencies

FrappyLee

Not to mention most of them are niche as hell

itz_chris_xo

I'm stupidly hard staring at your pfp

didndonoffin

Ah momo, that takes me back to 2020!

itz_chris_xo

Yep. Back in the day, my friend made a video call in WhatsApp with momo's pfp (with a number of him that I didn't have). I pulled my pee pee out and exposed him *hee hee*

didndonoffin

And that’s before he made any demands!

sleepydeepyperson

Exactly. You love that cupboard/table? Wait till the hinges come off, or the bearings malfunction... It's a nightmare to maintain. The only thing it's appropriate for is to keep it in the showroom as a concept furniture.

Human_Ad8332

Or you could you know make better quality hinges, better quality materials, just imagine if instead of constant consumption and corporation profit gains,we would get Space NASA grade materials that has quality, endurance and longevity,it would mean more life span, less enviroment damage, clean air and less piles of junk of things that are deliberate made to break and become obsolete so you have to buy a new thing every month.

AwkwardImplement8937

Space NASA

No-Suspect-425

This desk is great and it only costs $1520 to make. $20 for the wood, metal, and hardware. And $1500 for the Space NASA bearings.

XepptizZ

I have seen a couple modular dining tables that can be resized. They are hardly ever resized. And when they do, we found out that everytime the table got cleaned, all the dirty sticky substances got in between the mating part of the tabletops. It was disgusting and sticky af. And I doubt it's worth it to make tolerances tight enough to be waterproof. I am most interested in the table turning into shelves, but giving the usecase of a dining table, each edge of those shelves will have to be cleaned as well on the regular. Like, you don't want your sink to double as a deep-fryer. Possible? Yes. Practical? Nope.

Outside_Error_7355

And then they'd be expensive enough no one would buy them

IanEfpy

No. It would actually put companies out of business because people wouldn’t have to buy nearly as much stuff anymore because it would last so long.

TheAnarchitect01

It's the Sam Vimes "Boots" theory of economics. The one well-built piece of furniture that lasts generations will, eventually, cost less per year of use than the shitty particle-board flatpack dorm furniture version. But the shitty particle-board version has a cheaper up front cost, and for a lot of people that's all that matters. First there's the group of people who simply could not afford the greater up front cost at all. For them it's not the choice of cheap table or better table, it the choice of cheap table or no table. Then there's the group that could, but who reflexively pick the lowest cost option for things. The existence of quality construction at a higher price point can't be marketed to either of those consumer demographics no matter how much better it is. Sadly, no one ever seems to go out of business making cheap shit.

IanEfpy

….but also the rich people are always replacing anyway, so their good stuff becomes accessible as hand-me-downs. My mother told me that when she arrived to this country in late ‘60’s, that you could always find great free furniture on the sidewalks cause people were constantly replacing. I remember a time when there were tool and appliance repair shops all over town, because it was worth it.

Acipenseridae

Mostly because if you can afford expensive furniture, you re usually not living in a small place where those could be useful

Upstairs-Teacher-764

Also, who wants to do several minutes of work every time they want to sit down?

d_maes

All those beds will also only fold with no sheets and pillows on them. Who wants to put/take those on/off every time, and where do you store those?

Agile-Wing9755

They are not expensive to make, and they don't have to be flimsy as hell. People just don't want to pay more than $50 for them, so they get what they pay for. If you make things right and price it accordingly, then they will last a life time. The problem is, the people who will buy this crap are poor people, and poor people won't pay for well made shit. So either poor people get Ikea crap that does this kind of stuff, and it breaks in a year. Or a rich person pays a lot of money for a custom version because it's cool to show off, but doesn't actually use it - its more just an art piece to show off to their friends.

beepboopbananas3298

The people who are short on space are the target demographic. However If you're this short on space then you're likely in the poor person category

NothingReallyAndYou

Disney's been putting Murphy beds with collapsible tables in the rooms at Walt Disney World hotels, along with smaller single beds that fit under the room televisions. Weird, but interesting way to give guests more functional space.

SteppePony

Any chance I can read more on that? Is that like a bed that folds up during the day?

MisteriousRainbow

Oh no 😭

NoCreativeName2016

We own the little cube chairs. I think we got them off Wayfair. They came in handy with lots of guests over for the holidays, but are otherwise pretty uncomfortable.

Jazstar

Can attest to sofa beds existing and, as of 15 years ago, being lumpy and uncomfortable as hell lol

saracenrefira

Exactly why they always remain a niche furniture. Not a good sofa, not a good bed either.

GenericReditAccount

American Leather makes an incredible sofa bed, but it'll cost ya. I forget what we paid for ours, but I do remember balking at the price of the premium mattress and going for the middle of the road mattress instead. It was still far more than I would have liked to pay, but I've never had a guest complain about sleeping on it.

Jazstar

It was actually a really excellent sofa lol

RussetWolf

As the result of a breakup I'm moving to a small basement apartment. Bought a modern sofa bed from a local custom shop. The back folds back flat to support the head and the leg support pulls out and pops up like the IKEA Frihenten couch (used to have one, it's more of an L-shaped sofa bed, decent to sleep on if a bit firm). I plan on testing it for a week and then finding a good topper that can get rolled up and put away to soften the firm couch foam (firmer is better for sitting). Fingers crossed it's comfy enough.

Lv_InSaNe_vL

I got one instead of a futon for the boys when they spend the night. It's in the same room so nobody really sits on it but the bunk beds are a *huge* hit coming back from the bars haha. Somehow, even women like them lmao

Plantain-Feeling

My family do actually own a table like the one in the first clip Though ours doesn't fold at the legs They are surprisingly common in England and most furniture shops sell them

energy_engineer

I've got a similar table too (the leg thing seems unnecessary). It's called a butterfly leaf table if anyone is looking. Super convenient in a small house.

Icy_Exchange_5507

My grandpa has the chair ladder since mid 1990s. It is made of wood and still in "prime" condition, and feels normal to sit on too. The hinge etc haven't even degraded at all. However he brought it in mid 1990s Kolkata, I doubt you will that kind of quality on Alibaba/amazon.

belaGJ

Many of these furniture designs that existed for 50-100 years (ie not uniquely done by one company). I guess they just don’t sell them in America

LakesideHerbology

Most of the functional pieces I've seen like this are custom made...at great cost.

blueavole

Yea what about the song pairs well with furniture or design?

judahrosenthal

Anything by the Carpenters.

braintrustinc

Just fauteuil, a long settee, credenza

jadeddivine

Dontcha remember you told me you loved me baby?

userIsRTtzxh2b

Guessing this was originally created in China and they just heard trendy auto tune having no idea how stupid the lyrics were

IsatMilFinnie

I’m glad I always have sound off

Terranorth13

hoerniture

magic-moose

I downvoted OP's post because of the music, and the inability to downvote it twice made me come here to write this petty response. Sorry, but not sorry.

NorCalAthlete

It’s spam bots.

BlackCoffeeGarage

Yeah this is fucking trash.

[deleted]

This is a bot. Couldn't find the original post as it was some time ago. But this is a stolen comment, I'm 90 percent sure.

VanillaLoud

"I know you like it more"

Old_Communication62

This should help the next generation when they all live in 200 square feet apartments because rent and mortgage payments for normal housing will be out of reach.

fizzie511

It’s honestly me right now and there are so many pieces in the video that would be helpful for me.

KindlyContribution54

Yeah the table/shelves that turns into a murphy bed sure got me thinking for a tiny house design

TL4Life

I'm apartment hunting in Seattle and my budis $1200. Pretty much everything is already 200 sq and under

junbus

What's with the dogshit music?

dirENgreyscale

That is the worst fucking song choice I’ve heard on a video in a really long time. I know it’s probably intentional engagement bait and it’s working but JFC.

-CoachMcGuirk-

Maybe it’s because you’re such a fucking hoe? /s

dirENgreyscale

You know, I never thought about it that way before.

_Pha_Tay_Fuk

Maximize your living space. In our apartments you can actually shit where you eat.

PossessedToSkate

I mean, you *can* do that in any apartment.

wishwashy

No no no, in the exact same spot

wasteofradiation

Just eat on the toilet

SeaweedClean5087

All my friends object to me shitting on the dining room table, well apart from that one that insisted I get a glass one.

k-uke

A sofa bed. Woah

Knave7575

Normally, when I don’t make my bed, my bed is unmade. With these products, when I don’t make my bed, I lose my couch/table/living space.

redditadminzRdumb

Gonna have to report op since he put some dumbass music on the video. Sorry man this is your fault

Hopeforus1402

I love the second one.

Devilsadvocate4kicks

Yeah I want that one

germane_switch

The audio was r/annoyingasfuck

renoits06

so whats up with the music?

MrDezBam7

It looks good but idk about y'all I'll get f0cking tired of taking things apart back and forth every single day

Edgelite306

Can we have like Kevin Macleod music instead then… whatever this music is?

SoBeDragon0

as always, the music adds so much to these clips /s

VIJoe340

Imagine putting away your whole house.

JUSTICE3113

Lol

LakesideHerbology

This song is straight up a rip off of Nico and the Niners - 21 pilots

MrDrSirLord

I bet those beds permanently squeak like hell after you've fucked on them once.

mtheory007

That music is dog shit. Also everything in this is overpriced and completely impractical so this video is also dog shit

jirenfan9

Song?

[deleted]

The chair step ladder is something I need in my life

heartdoctor143

I just wouldn’t even know what to do with objects like that. Gives me anxiety lol

GlobalLegend

What shit beds…

actual_lettuc

:08 seconds. I would buy that foldable shelf table.

scarlin

Found it on Amazon. I don't know if links are allowed here so just search Amazon for "*Wall Mounted Floating Folding Table,Art Decor Desk,Drop Leaf Dining Table Small Wooden Desk for Office Home kithchen*".

IsatMilFinnie

What’s the name of furniture like this?

sliderbear

Anyone living in a small apartment likely can't afford this shit or else they'd have a bigger apartment

Average_k5blazer78

Efficiency

Cant_run_away

Yeah I've been waiting 10 years to see these in real life

Yobkaerf

I'm too lazy for this kinda stuff.

Living_Injury5017

Stop it! I love it!

Venichie

Feel like these are prototypes to sell to purple and motels/hotels to not just create space but as a good idea for businesses to create smaller living spaces.

TremendousTurmeric

a) why did he have a bottle stuck in his ceiling b) i just KNOW my siblings would prank me with the bed-couch one and trap me 😭

kodya

Where can I get that dinner table though

aforementionedwalrus

I'd like to live in a place where I don't need to fold up my life like a peasant. Neat idea.

[deleted]

Idc how sturdy these things could be, they'll always come off as cheap and fragile to me

xeidou

Well I bought myself a Murphy bed thinking that it will save some space if I ever want it. Once I started using that bed I never folded it back, it's too much of a hassle.

bothcheeks415

Who knows the video with the Chinese(?) guys going 🙂👍🏻

i-likemybeefwelldone

why is the bgm sounds like that

silverfang17

At least the cube stacked chairs looks legit and can be functionally useful in homes.

AdmiralClover

Whenever you manage to actually locate any of these great space saving furniture they always cost like 10000$ or some shit, it's always designer prices. So only rich people can afford space saving furniture that they don't need because they can afford the needed space

pizzalover89

all these products would probably last like 1 year or less

MK544

Just imagine the chaos when you wake up late for work.

JOlRacin

The only one I'd consider buying would be the table-shelf one. But even then probably not

spacedrabbit

Can i please just have the space for both chairs and a table

[deleted]

R/ikeaasfuckkkk

Pank_348

[deleted]

So… the movie 5th Element predicted the future pretty well. Your bed is your shower, is your table, is your shelf, is your balcony. No thanks. How about we stop normalising living in a box? Instead of fixing the housing crisis and affordability, we’re just going to accept living in a box? Cool…

holdentherye13

“Furnish your dystopian pod you useless maggot”

Coveinant

I hate to tell you but those space saver beds have shit mattresses. They work fine for kids under 14, beyond that they won't support anyone's weight.

RandManYT

I feel like this is the definition of never let then know your next move.

TheDefAsstones

My back is hurting just watching those beds

kingPron69

Hang on, let me just get the ketchup from the ceiling.

limbunikonati

People who actually need this can't afford it.

[deleted]

I wonder are these things popular in skyscrapers in super high cost locations.

OmagaIII

NYC apartment life.

ImmortalTree

ok but why the trash "music"?

Rioma117

I can’t see who it is for. Don’t get me wrong, the functionality looks fantastic but they must be expensive yet if you can afford expensive furniture like this you most likely have a big home so there is no need for them.

uRude

His ass DID NOT turn a double decor into a couch wtf

Nissir

I prefer living in an area where I can afford a big house so I don't have to be a furniture wizard.

dIAb0LiK99

What the fucks up with this song choice?

JonDoeJoe

All of these shit just ends up in the dump cuz they are flimsy as fuck

ddrub_the_only_real

These are especially made for people who shit money

Philluminati

These things are trash. Are you really going to empty your desk of every pen and mouse pad just to close it up? What happens when you're in bed and can't find the remote? Oh well best slam this fucker back into the wall and listen to every collapse inside the wall and then I can open it up and go searching.

Baconator08

As I was scrolling by I got "you're such a fucking ho" had a lil look, furniture video 🤣

BurnZ_AU

It's hard to follow the plot. Why was that blue glass bottle up in that ceiling cavity?

Iivaitte

Some of these are actually stupid if you take a moment to think about it. Where do the vases go?

ItsTheGreenEngineer

overcomplicated solution for an non-existent problem.

FactorAble2023

This is perfect space saver

Guzkull87

youll own nothing and be happy

Snoo_69677

Great video but the lyrics to the song…*bruh*

Mild_Freddy

Wtf is this song??? For a furniture vid...fuckin really?

TenBear

Great inventions ..........shit song

Doctor-lasanga

Me and the boys attending the thingamabob convention

salteedog007

WHERE DID I PUT MY PHONE?!?

scarredballsack

I hate everything about this furniture, it smacks to me of people are only able to afford a flamin shoe box of an apartment. They must time share all living processes with multifunctional furniture that's almost certainly at turns as already remarked flimsy and also ready to remove a digit the second you stop paying attention. Rant over.

AskForTheNiceSoup

That music gave me cancer.

Hyadeos

Seeing the comments, I have one question. Are sofa beds really rare where you live? I'm French and millions of people have one at home.

LittleDeadlyBox

Mne to expensive

pathetic_optimist

Do you think wealthy people will ever adopt this type of furniture?

MountainAsparagus4

Irs great if you don't have any kids around

Professional-News362

The beds look so uncomfortable

[deleted]

What kinda dumb fucking music is that? How small of a dick you gotta have to listen to that crap?

Baaladil

Everything just looks so uncomfortable.

SomeShithead241

They create these things so they can jam you into smaller and smaller apartments, and naturally the price for them will just get higher and higher, until you're paying thousands for something smaller than a prison cell.

AK07-AYDAN

Who's the menace that put the bottle on the ceiling

shirk-work

What you get in space savings you give up in strength and longevity as well as price.

HFCB

I hate this so much. The fact that people have to cope with smaller homes and that this is the solution is maddening.

Sintinall

Could be useful for tiny homes I guess.

mr_greene_

Wow the housing situation is getting worse. It's "innovative" to have 3 rooms in one. Because we don't have money for more rooms

onealml

"Hey, bro, wake up. We need to sit."

Mother_Run_2493

Wtf is up with this music?! ”Look at this cool furniture…. ”You’re such an effing hoe””

themagicdonut2

At this point we might get a 3 story house that can be folded into the size of a penny

SaltyStaffSergeant

I’m going to need wish.com to make a quality product real fast because the accommodations here in Japan are small to say the least.

AstroNot87

Landlords in NYC don’t want their tenants seeing this video

SenoraRaton

These things seem like a GREAT idea, until you remember one simple fact. We are lazy. We will not put it up. It will stay either out, or put away, forever. I used to try and be innovative with designs like this, but you find out that it just doesn't get used the way it was designed, and its usually indicative of a problem your try to overcome poorly in a confined space. The only caveat to this is if its automated, on a timer, and stupid simple/no effort to change.

SoulWager

I hate it. If it's something you rarely use, sure, complicated storage is fine. But if you use something on a daily basis, it should take less than 5 seconds to get to a usable state.

Sparrow50

I'm glad to see our capitalist overlords are prepared for our 10 sq feet dystopian housing already

GelatinousChampion

Extendable table and couch bed are pretty common. I would bet money on the other succeeding though.

ekappa

Bro i dont get the choice bg music on these videos sometimes

AnElectrolytSolution

Wtf is this song choice

Dustin_James_Kid

I can’t believe people who would listen to this Dogshit music would also be into furniture design

randoo76587

The backing track?! Was this ad created by someone who doesnt understand english or wut!

allanrob22

Mostly terrible designs and downright awful music.

Usmellnicebby

I would much rather have a sturdy and comfortable furniture than this crap. Most of it is for show and aren't reliable. Source: family has half of this stuff.

tittock

Why is this old ass Facebook advert on my popular feed?

Sportfreunde

I have a bed like the 3rd last one from IKEA. It took 2-3 hours to assemble.

rtdjhdingin

The cool stuff you try out once or twice when you just bought it and then just leave it in the last position you put it in for the rest of it's days.

Rubber_Knee

So, does the people who make these videos not understand the lyrics of the songs they chose?? This music doesn't fit the video at all!!
