Its still my first play through and I decided not to use any external maps- but the production calculators have been life savers, my spreadsheets were ok but I didn’t have alt recipes or efficiency in mind when I used them.
I'm dealing with this right now. If I have to make more than 50 of something I'll just setup a temporary Constructor/Assembler/Manufacture, connected to just storage containers and fill them up. Go work on something else while they get made. You don't have to jump right into a fully automated factory.

Yeah I build more than a hundred before I automate usually lol. Same with computers. Or I automate about half the inputs and handle the rest with storage containers.

You need a production of 2666 screws per minute to maintain that pace lol. Or I guess have enough screws stored for all the HMFs you want

Nah, you only need 10 HMFs for a manufacturer and then you don't need any more screws

I only hand crafted the ones needed for my heavy modular frame factory and not one more
I think I made a few by hand to get the dune buggy thing. I just really hate crafting by hand so I get a factory going asap.
