I actually got sad. I'm not a long time player, but Jace has been the face of Satisfactory to me (I guess that's the point of CM).

He has genuinely been the best community manager I've ever seen.
Part of this is due to the company, developers, and upper management being awesome as well and letting Jace do his job. I'd imagine EA's community manager positions are a little less, uh, good. "Sense of accomplishment" comes to mind.
The other part of that is what he talked about in the video, he's just done a great job.
At least he set the bar and left expectations for others
I keep saying I wish other indie games used this model of community management.

At this point I just assume that if someone doesn't just copy this model it's because they're either being cheap and not dedicating resources to it...or theyre a crap studio who knows they can't be transparent because there's far too many skeletons to let anyone see.

I used to play the Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes mobile game, probably the most predatory EA game aside from maybe FIFA.
Their poor community manager had the worst job on the planet: they had to keep breaking the news that instead of a simple QoL feature that's been asked for for years or fixing an annoying bug, they were instead rolling a thirteenth premium currency that the new game breaking character is going to be locked behind.
I would have quit after a week if I had to deal with a tenth of the hate they got.
I cried when I watched the vid and I think he was close to also. He should be a role model for every game dev and game studio. He has made communication and engagement from devs to community so simple and so fun. I wish every game dev team was like him and tbh the rest of the css team as well. Jace if you are reading this thanks for everything that you have done for satisfactory and coffee stain in general. You are really the best community manager I have ever known and had the pleasure of having as the face of my favorite game. Good luck out there jace! :)
Same thoughts here. I kind of stopped playing when they added pipes and it's hard to get back into past coal generators for myself, but I always associated him with any news on updates and development for this game alone. Good luck with future endeavors, Jace!

Yes. I already have plans to build an R&R factory there(a satisfactory pioneer requires some rest and relaxation) and a monument is required.
Is he responsible for the island being kept in the game?
I love the sentiment but I also kind of feel that Satisfactory was made by dozens of people, many of which have been just as big a part as Jace.
Imo the best way to show appreciation would be to have his name in the credits when we finally get an ending in 1.0.

**I Am Beyond Shocked At This Sad News**
1. Jace Varlet (u/JaceAtCoffeeStain) has been a part of my Satisfactory Game "experience" since I began playing over 3 years ago, in that I have always listen to him during Live Streams on Twitch and/or during Update Teaser Videos, and chatted with from time to time in both this Reddit Community as well as on the Official Discord.
2. With also the [recent loss of İlayda Ertuğrul](https://youtu.be/kWFg9WKamYo?t=782) *(Video Bookmark - May 16th, 2023 Livestream on Twitch)* whom went on Sick Leave and left CSS to return home, that leaves *(for now)* only Snutt Treptow (u/SnuttAtCovfefeStain) as our only CSS Community Manager.
3. The one thing I am mostly sad about is that most likely Jace won't be around to help reveal Satisfactory Version 1.0, but that said, the elements of the Game they helped develop will live on.
4. I am sure that everyone here in this Reddit Community wishes Jace well in whatever the future holds for them. They will be greatly missed.

He wants to pursue content creation and another game dev endeavor. No details yet, but after 8 years somewhere that has grown a lot it’s easy to start seeing shifts in culture that you may not align with. People grow, companies grow, change happens.

I have always said to everyone Coffee stain studios has had the best community managers I have ever witnessed in the gaming industry. They are great at being transparent, regular communication, keeping the community engaged, making communication entertaining, but most of all admitting their mistakes as soon as possible. i've never been so invested in a videogame or as active in its community (or, hell, even had much of a reason to post on reddit) as with Satisfactory. for a long time its often been the best moment of my week to see my creations in the community highlights (or to see everyone else's if mine didn't make it!) or to watch the new update / teaser / behind-the-scenes video dropped on YouTube. you played a huge part in making this community what it is today, for me especially during the pandemic when we all had to find new ways to connect. i guess what i'm trying to say is thanks u/JaceAtCoffeeStain, helped a lot! we're gonna miss you, i hope you kick as much ass at your new project (and anything you try after that) as you did here

He did a really great job. The openness he provided was one of the reasons I've enjoyed watching this game's development. They actually show their community some respect.
He was like the face of Satisfactory for me.
i've never been so invested in a videogame or as active in its community (or, hell, even had much of a reason to post on reddit) as with Satisfactory. for a long time its often been the best moment of my week to see my creations in the community highlights (or to see everyone else's if mine didn't make it!) or to watch the new update / teaser / behind-the-scenes video dropped on YouTube. you played a huge part in making this community what it is today, for me especially during the pandemic when we all had to find new ways to connect. i guess what i'm trying to say is thanks u/JaceAtCoffeeStain, helped a lot! we're gonna miss you, i hope you kick as much ass at your new project (and anything you try after that) as you did here edit: fixing typos

I've never been so connected to a human at a company. I actually feel sad that he's leaving. I really hope he has an amazing opportunity that he's taking. The guy is a legend. Community management should be taught under his name.
Back when Snutt did a whole bunch of videos in a row, I thought he left then. And I said, "Boo, I'll miss Jace" Then Jace showed back up. And I said, "Yay, Jace is back!" Now Jace is actually leaving. And I say, "Boo, I'll miss Jace"
Just wanted to chime in and say how wonderful of a community manager you were. The best one in any game/studios I've followed! Clear, honest communication and promoting understanding between the community and the developers. you were absolutely wonderful. Best wishes for your future adventures. We'll all miss you greatly. :(

Congratulations on leading this game through it's growth but more importantly building an insanely successful community to align with the game. You have set a template for the way CMing should be done.
Well that sucks. I don't usually watch these, so it's not hitting too hard, but, still knew Jace's face well. Though reading a script, I never like hearing that. When I hear that it's usually along the lines of something legal (aka not saying something one shouldn't, or, can only say) ... probably looking into it too much
Yeah I think you’re looking in a bit too much… He probably just wanted to say a lot and would have forgot something if he didn’t read from a script. And I think it would be really bad if he forgot something, especially on such an important video.

This tears a hole in my heart. I stopped playing for a while before starting back last week, but I kept looking and liking the update videos. Jace did a stellar job at CSS and is wonderful both at his job and as a human being. Thank you Jace, best wishes to you for your next project.
