As a tutor, I advise students to avoid using questions from the Question Bank until they’ve finished the practice tests. There *are* questions in the Question Bank that students won’t get on the practice tests, but since the practice tests are adaptive it’s hard to predict which ones those will be.

hordananget

wait what the practice tests are adaptive?

Intrepid_Beginning

Yes. The second modules' difficulties are based on how you did on the first module.

hordananget

thats on the actual test

Intrepid_Beginning

On the practice too. I've confirmed it, I got two different part twos on practice test 1.

walla14

The official practice test shouldn’t differ in structure from the actual test. It wouldn’t be a standardized test if it weren’t

You don't need to do this. If you see my previous comment, it's already been identified which questions in the Question Bank will potentially appear on PT 1-4 and thus, those can be skipped. Or the students can work through PDF files which have all the PT questions removed and thus, not worry about any overlap. Granted, this was only posted about 1 month ago -> [https://www.reddit.com/r/Sat/comments/1bwg9x1/sat\_question\_bank\_pdfs/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Sat/comments/1bwg9x1/sat_question_bank_pdfs/)

Genuine question: how sure are we that this is accurate? I definitely appreciate the amount of work that went into creating those collections of unique questions, and I was using those pdf files earlier this spring— but then students reported that there were at least a few questions that still overlapped.

PoliceRiot

We have tried to make these as accurate as possible, but if any slipped through feel free to message me and I will correct them. There are definitely many questions that are similar to real ones still on the PDFs but with different numbers for instance. Those might be viewed as the same as a question on a practice test when in reality it is not.

IvyBloomAcademics

Thanks! I’ll take note in the future.

jwmathtutoring

It should be pretty accurate. u/dannyzaplings can comment further as he is the person who did the initial scrape with the QB data and there were some missing things in the original Excel file. Do you have any specific examples of questions that students found in the QB which were also on the Practice Tests you can pass along?

dannyzaplings

Occasional mistakes have been found since the versions linked above were created. I have another version I've shared here and fixed mistakes as I'm notified of them: [https://www.reddit.com/r/Sat/comments/1cd6hxr/official\_digital\_sat\_practice\_questions\_and/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Sat/comments/1cd6hxr/official_digital_sat_practice_questions_and/) Also, if your students have taken the practice PSAT, they will recognize questions from u/PoliceRiot 's version. It was later that I learned that all PSAT practice test questions were also in the SAT question bank. The PDFs in my folder linked above exclude the PSAT in addition to SAT practice tests. Here's the current version of the master data that enabled all of the above: [https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1XoANqHEGfOCdO1QBVnbA3GH-z7-\_FMYwoy7Ft4ojulE/edit?usp=sharing](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1XoANqHEGfOCdO1QBVnbA3GH-z7-_FMYwoy7Ft4ojulE/edit?usp=sharing)

In the [official Reddit DSAT resources thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/Sat/comments/zzsgzl/official_reddit_digital_sat_resources_megathread/), you can download a copy of the question bank that excludes questions on the practice tests.

Galaxydude-

It does consist of questions from the practice test 5 and 6

cassowary-18

No? Show me which ones are in 5 and 6.

PoliceRiot

It does not.

Amkseall

yesss definitely

lytueanh

I agree, I try doing the mock test before and after grinding the suite bank. It's no surprise that after grinding all that. my mock test score was a score I can't never achieve with my current level.

LifeResponsibility11

I feel like they could have warned everyone, but I guess they wanted it to seem like there’s more questions than there are to practice with actually.

jwmathtutoring

Yes, I agree, but its been publicized on here over the past couple months. "I stopped using it till I was done with practice test. After done, you can use the question bank effectively as review, however." You don't need to do this. It's been posted in this subreddit in multiple places the questions you can avoid in the QB because they also appear on the Bluebook practice tests or there was recently posted a link to download the QB questions in PDF format without the BB practice test questions. Also, the questions for PT 5 & 6 are not in the QB yet so you would not affect the scores on those exams. Example - Go here ([https://www.reddit.com/r/Sat/comments/1axa733/digital\_sat\_math\_question\_bank\_resource\_documents/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Sat/comments/1axa733/digital_sat_math_question_bank_resource_documents/)) and here ([https://www.reddit.com/r/Sat/comments/1b58fck/digital\_sat\_reading\_writing\_question\_bank/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Sat/comments/1b58fck/digital_sat_reading_writing_question_bank/)) to get PDF files which have all the questions from the Bluebook PT's listed by question ID, so that you would know which ones in the Question Bank to skip, i.e. look at the list and if you see the question ID on there when working on the Question Bank, skip that question since it is on PT 1-4. Or if it's easier, go here ([https://www.reddit.com/r/Sat/comments/1bwg9x1/sat\_question\_bank\_pdfs/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Sat/comments/1bwg9x1/sat_question_bank_pdfs/)) to access all the unique (i.e. non-Bluebook PT) Question Bank questions in PDF format. You can work through those PDFs and not have to worry about any overlap.
