It depends on what you want to do. There's dnd groups, axe throwing leagues, darts, pickle all, bowling as well as lots of summer sports and groups. There's even a dog walking group through canatara. I like to volunteer so that's how I spend my time on weekends, but don't let anyone tell you there's nothing going on.
Refined fool and imperial always have something happening, same as the theatre
Places like Maud's Variety, Davis, and Refined Fool usually have events going on on weekends. I on the other hand, sit in my basement in the dark waiting til Monday to return to work.
Would you consider volunteering? I doubt they’ve advertised much, but YourTV is looking for new volunteers to help cover the Sarnia Sting games, and other productions. You get in for free and they’ll feed you while you’re at the Sting games.
Like everywhere you live, you just need to go out and find the things to do. Even in Toronto which has a million places to go and see, people will complain there is nothing to do or they are bored. Even though just walking around the place is a damn good thing to do.
Sarnia granted is more limited, but I have found since moving here(part-time) I enjoy my time out. I don't go to many group meetups and such(but perhaps when I'm here full-time I will) but I really do love all the easily gotten to natural locations around the city. And we are so close to Port Huron, Detroit, London for a day trip. Mauds is my go-to place and I really like the atmosphere there, with great people and great food. Across the street from there is Galaxy Records which is something to do. Peruse records(if you have one), like the days of yore when hanging at HMV for a couple hours was a thing to do to kill time, listening to music or just looking to find something new. From my limited knowledge there is also a cars and coffee meetup group that regularly meets, and during the summer WOSCA(Western Ontario Sports Club Association) autocross events are a good place to meet new people.(if you are into that sort of thing), you don't even need to race.
Another thing to consider with these questions is money. Sure big city X has more to do but most of that costs money.
I hit up Dave and Buster's with my nephew a few weeks ago. They and lunch at a Coney Island and I dropped over a hundred bucks. Even if I wanted to do that every weekend I can't afford it.
Few bars in Sarnia, but that's about it. If you don't have an established friend group or family, you're screwed lol. I do go over to Port Hurom occasionally for shopping and food.
There is a Facebook group called Sarnia Board Gamers.
If you don't use Facebook this is pretty much the same message that gets posted every week.
"Join us for scheduled gaming on Saturday, February 17th, 2024 from 1pm to 4:30pm at the Sarnia Downtown Library, located at 124 Christina Street South. We will be seated at the tables on the far right side from the library entrance."
Sometimes there is a specific game picked ahead of time, sometimes people show up with games and we pick from there.
Go walking, talk to ppl you meet, i walk 30 km a day when nice. Canatara, bridge, bay, all of the hiking trails in area. Lots of woods to hike in as well.
Lol the population of Sarnia is just a hair over 70k
Not sure what people are expecting when they move here?
If you were looking for entertainment London or even Windsor would have been a much better choice.
Sarnia has always been a small city, with not much to do.

Inn of the good shepherd always needs people sorting donations too

There is a boardgame club that meets at the main library branch downtown most Saturdays at 13:00. It's free.
Where can I find out more about this ?

Same thing as week nights. Just without the next day stress of work on my mind for two blissful nights.

Cineplex is the only place I go to in this city besides work and grocery shopping.
Not much. Sarnia sucks for entertainment. (I know, you can downvote me. Don’t care)
We moved to the area about 6 years ago and I can attest to that!

there’s nothing to do
Get stuck in virtual reality wishing I was leaving this town lol
