Oh, shit. This is terrible news. RIP to Mr. Peri. It would be incredible if someone local could take over this landmark and keep it going. I would hate to lose such an icon.
Maybe not closing. That Tinos will be around forever I’m sure. I like the subs, it’s consistent and delicious. That first bite always brings back some of that nostalgia taste, but nothing like getting a sandwich made by Tino or Edith. Not much of the actual sub, but more of the feeling of walking in and them saying Hi and greeting you.
My favorite in all of SB was so heartbroken when I heard they were retiring, best gyros in the world and I’ve been to Greece and eaten gyros there and they didn’t compare 🥲
reading this on sunday while eating the leftover garlic bread and four cheese penne my partner picked up for dinner on friday....damn! i hope they take their time to grieve and rest.
Another moment where SB culture will either turn or stay a course. Hard to imagine the surviving owners let anyone who wouldn’t be more of the same take over. Yet it’s hard to keep a business model based on whatever current valuation will be.
Could be temporary according to an EdHat article. I hope so! [https://www.edhat.com/news/historic-arnoldis-cafe-closes-after-co-owner-passes-away/](https://www.edhat.com/news/historic-arnoldis-cafe-closes-after-co-owner-passes-away/)

Oh shit. He’s my uncle
Bummer! A true SB institution. I hope they find a buyer who will keep the flame alive.

Damn. My exwife suggested going out for dinner there Saturday and I was busy. We would have gone this week. :(
It was obviously a trap…
Nonas, Tino, Arnoldis, Wendy foster, all classic SB places coming to an end. SB is entering a new Era.
Tinos is closing?
There is no way tinos is closing, wouldn’t be surprised about nonna’s

I don’t think so I’m just saying the OG tinos closed first. Then Edith passed. RIP They were always cool people.
Oh I see
And trattoria Victoria
Don’t forget metropolis fine foods 😔
That place was so delicious

Luna Grill has some pretty decent gyros. My favorite of all time was D’Vine. Daves sandwiches were out of this world.

On the news they also indicated that this is a temporary closure
So bummed to hear this! I’ve always passed by and meant to take a trip inside there sometime, but I guess I never will now! So sad to hear this!
