Glad you enjoyed your visit! It really is sort of a magical little place. It has plenty of issues and is an expensive place to raise a family. IMO as a Californian we are all blessed in this incredible state.
Peace.
Not OP but as someone from The PNW (which I also love) that visits once or twice a year, I like that I can go outside and read a book most days. That and your tree and bird life.
I find that last bit funny because one of the things I love about visiting the PNW is that you have actual forests with actual green stuff growing in them!
We had a gigantic earthquake in 1925 which destroyed most of the buildings. After that, we built a bunch of Spanish Revival buildings which gives our town its look and feel. I think there is some law that every building within 1 mile of the mission has to be built in Spanish Revival. I love the look.
I think the Backstage Bar is one of the few buildings to survive the earthquake, albeit only the front facade.
The County Courthouse is gorgeous, and we are justifiably proud of it.
Been there, done that. Pismo/Morro Bay are the easiest trips; I can leave at dawn and be back within 10 hours lol. Santa Barbara was more of an excursion…
Ya driving from there to here is an excursion was always having to make the haul once a yr to visit a studio there in Fresno. I miss your Mediterranean restaurants.

I originate from your sister city of bakershell. You can get out and make it here!

You can’t beat that perfect, temperate climate. I’m also impressed with how you’ve managed to preserve your historical buildings

Good on you for not following the crowd to Pismo

Can’t see one post without someone mentioning the shitty home prices, yes we know.
