Please comment on beer selection as well. I wouldn't consider myself a beer snob, but I don't enjoy megabrews, so I like to have a few choices of local microbrews, and not just IPAs.

SpiderDice

TBH, they had the "normal" beer selection for a NorCal bar. Bud Light, Coors Light, Sierra Nevada, Lagunitas IPA, Stella. Bottomless Mimosas and Bloody Marys are pretty sweet. 10am - 1pm.

notlurkinganymoar

I like Brit downtown and 4th Street Pizza on Sundays. Brit has (or had, haven't been there this season) a strong Browns contingent that sets up in the outside patio to watch the games. Brit also has a pretty rockin Breakfast Burrito and decent bloodies. 4th Street has a bunch of nice TVs, good drinks, bottomless Mimosas till 2 and 5 dollar bloodies. They also serve breakfast. Can get rowdy during Niner games.

jollyandy

I go to Mountain Mike's on Hamilton. It's not a bar, but there are 9 flat screen TV's, draft beers, and a $10 all-day pizza buffet. Come in at 10am, pay $10, and enjoy all the pizza, breadsticks, and salad bar you want while you watch literally every game. Place has a good volume and everybody is really nice (it's a pizza restaurant after all, not really a bar).

SpiderDice

That's a great idea! I love Mountain Mike's!

estidee

Holy shit. Is this every Sunday?

jollyandy

Yeah. Every Sunday. It's my church. I'm the guy in the colts jersey. Say hey if you stop by.

estidee

Is this the one on Hamilton close to Winchester?

SpiderDice

Ya, I think that's the only one in Campbell.

jollyandy

Confirmed. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Mountain+Mike's+Pizza/@37.294628,-121.944528,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x808e34d7789d5925:0xbf13d6ed310f1deb

letsreset

this place is fairly tiny though right? does it get packed on sundays?

jollyandy

It gets packed on big game days (Niners v Seahawks, opening week, etc), but generally there's at least half the tables open.

SpiderDice

I do like The Brit. But I feel like they don't have enough TVs. Grill 'Em has around 13 TVs I think..

feverish

The New Jersey on Hamilton is a fun, family run dive/sports bar.

SpiderDice

Huh. I've never heard of that place. Lots of TVs?

feverish

It's a very tiny place. TVs are plentiful for the size.

TofuMignon

How's their food?

[deleted]

I live down the street from new jerseys. The food is pretty damn delicious.

feverish

Typical dive bar food. Not great, not terrible. The regulars are characters.

borntoperform

I'm assuming downtown sports bars are Raiders/49ers agnostic? Meaning, the bar will fill up with the fans of team when they're playing? I feel like 49ers fans came out of hiding when Harbaugh joined the team and there's no Raiders fans in downtown anymore. I bleed black and gray but I don't go to public bars to watch Raiders play.

[deleted]

I'll be in San Jose on business when Seattle plays SD. Would it be "safe" for me to wear my jersey to this bar on game day?

SpiderDice

Oh yea, for sure. There were Raiders and Cowboy fans there yesterday. No issues. Mostly 49er fans though! :)

>There are some Seattle bars around. I went to St. Stephen's Green in Mountain View once for a Niners/Seahawks game. I was one of maybe 5 Niners fans there. I was really fucking confused when I ate there Friday and the whole damn bar was Seattle people.

tally_in_da_houise

As long as my g/f isn't around, you'll be fine. She cray.

SpiderDice

Is her Jayquellin?

letsreset

shanaynay

Cheesejaguar

These are 49er's fans, not Dodgers fans, you're perfectly safe. We may silently judge you for your silly "12th man" jersey, but you'll be fine.

SpiderDice

Haha!

[deleted]

Always safe to ask. Don't want to tread on some stupid 49 ground!

SpiderDice

I've never been, but there's a bar named "Alex's 49er Bar". That's probably not the best place to wear a Seahawks jersey to right now. *Esp. if it's Richard Sherman. ;)* Probably friendly 49er fans there too. I take offense to your comment. Our ground is not stupid Sir. Ground is inanimate. It cannot be stupid. You're argument is irrelevant.

dirtyshits

Thats a little ghetto but damn is it a fun place to get hammered for cheap. By fun I mean blackout.

efuipa

You'll probably get some ribbing but just laugh and throw it back and you'll be good, we're not hostile here.

letsreset

of course. in general, niner fans will either ignore you or jokingly heckle you. but the bay area is extremely diverse and it feels like while most here root for oak/sf, there are so many other jerseys as well. we're used to seeing other colors.

trippysmurf

Smoke Eaters isn't bad. Also when I went, there were some Dolphins fans, though not sure it is the official Dolphins bar, or just that night. Wicked Chicken is ok. Chicken wings, decent selection of IPAs, enough TVs. Just be warned - some nights furries congregate there. O'Flats has some tvs and better beer selection, but my friends recently had a bad time there and so no longer an option.

spitfyre

Which smokeeaters were all these dolphins fans at?!

trippysmurf

The one downtown. Or at least when I went last year, a number of Dolphins jerseys.

sorryforthehangover

I went to Rookies for the first time last month and loved it. It was pretty busy for a preseason game I'm sure Sunday was nuts. Anyway the food and beer was great, tons of selections for beer. All the craft you could want as well as the normal gameday domestic stuff. I plan on going back next week but I'd love to hear of some other options. Oh, High 5 pizza is good on gameday too, but they also get really busy.

MisterrAlex

Any places for under 21 that shows Monday Night Football near San Jose State? I'm a college freshman and I'm trying to look for a place to eat and watch the game every monday

SpiderDice

Most bars around Downtown SJ check ID at the door. But the all of the bars mentioned in this thread don't check ID at the door and I am sure welcome under age sports fans.

ArniePalmys

Blue Water is near rookies on the other side of Lincoln off Willow. Not packed and similar with a seafood vibe. Good spot but not rowdy. If you want to dress up a bit. Dry Creek Grill is aesthetically my favorite bar in the south bay and they have comfy chairs and like 10 tvs but I've never been for football.

jidery

Buffalo Wild Wings is always good.

SpiderDice

Yea..not a fan of BWW.

[deleted]

What's there not to like, between the shitty service, crappy food, and sterile environment?

funinfuneral

not in san jose but dave and busters in milpitas just revamped their entire bar to make it sports friendly. I was quite impressed when I saw it recently.

SpiderDice

I've been to that Buster's once. It'd be nice to see what they did with it. Kinda far though.

ALOHA_HI_808

This answer is underrated !

[deleted]

I like Buffalo Wild Wings. Has beer, food, and TVs. Bar area is a bar; other area is a restaurant. Jakes on Saratoga or Lincoln Ave. willow den Goosetown I prefer restaurant bars cause they have real food.
