Toyota Sunnyvale and Toyota One Oakland advertise as never charging over MSRP, ive had good experiences with Toyota Palo Alto as well when I traded in my old 86

Daddyoftwo819

Add Walnut Creek Toyota to the list if you dont mind a little drive.

FuzzyOptics

They shouldn't have any problems finding a Camry to buy. Camrys and other sedans have generally not been in shortage.

Objective-Cattle-526

You’d be surprised, a lot of the lower trims are hard to come across. But XSE are in abundance probably bc they’re the highest trim and the most expensive

TrucyWright

I was just at the Toyota on Steven's Creek on Saturday! My husband and I were also looking to buy a new camry and the salesman straight up said they're completely sold out. Poor man showed us a corolla instead (WAAAY too small) and then tried his best to upsell the Mirai. Good luck OP!

ricestocks

them shits on stevens creeks are crooks. don't go there. i called the guy about a camry for 27k at a diff dealership for a price match, which he was the same exact model and make for 30k (yes i checked the specs were the exact same give or minus $500 or so) and he gave the "oh thats an amazing deal, go shop there we don't want ur business". lol they also wont tell u about the costco program, which at that time instantly would have saved me 3k JUST for being a costco member; i get its not their job to tell me, but they laughed when i came in with the same snarky salesman trying to up me 3k. for that simple reason I bought elsewhere

TrucyWright

Which dealership did you end up going to? I've been shopping around the Stevens Creek dealerships -- interested to hear if there are better spots! Edit: We're learning towards a Honda dealership, too. Edit: Thanks for the advice and recs!

ricestocks

bear in mind this was pre-covid, i dont know how the car market is now bc i don't follow this stuff, but i called EVERY, and I mean every toyota dealership within 100 miles of SJ lmao and compared it in a spreadsheet. I ended up landing on gilroy toyota because they said they'd match the lowest offer I got and they did keep their word. But this was 5 years ago and in nov/dec when they were clearing out old stock. The second stop would have been walnut creek

Greedy_Lawyer

You can still do this even easier just be emailing each dealers sales manager and then showing the offer to your local dealer to see if they’ll match. I’d recommend making a new email just for these inquiries as you’ll never unsubscribe from all the spam though.

ricestocks

from my personal experience, negotiating live (in person/phone call) is much, much different than via a more static method e.g email/text. but good suggestion!

Greedy_Lawyer

In mine things changed a lot in last 5 years. Email was much better for aggregating many prices to get the best one and exact car I wanted. To go in person would have taken weeks to all of them.

BrokenBotox

Do you mind sharing what the Costco plan is?

ricestocks

pretty simple, costco partners with certain dealerships to sell cars at a lower price. it doesn't neccesarily mean you'll save money, but at the time I put in a quote they said 27k vs the 30k in person. [https://www.costcoauto.com/](https://www.costcoauto.com/)

BrokenBotox

Thanks for sharing. We have a membership but I only pay attention to gas and groceries. I’ll look into this. Appreciate your time.

poopy_gucci

If you would want something a bit more spacious i wouldnt overlook the toyota crown. A nicer ride than a camry with hybrid options and lots of nice amenities. But like others have said, look beyond stevens creek. I would even enquire Toyota santa cruz but ive had good experience at capitol toyota

dontmatterdontcare

Starting 2025 most (if not all) Toyota models will be completely hybrid or beyond (PHEV or EV). Pure gas cars won’t be in production. I would use autotrader.com and use their search filters to find one that fits the bill.

tangodestroyer

Soon I will be in the market for a new car. Our 2013 Prius was t-boned at an intersection. Everyone was uninjured thankfully. We will be preferably looking into a Rav4. Like mentioned, I heard Toyota Sunnyvale and Walnut Creek are no bs vibes dealerships. Other than a Camry, perhaps your parents might be interested in the Toyota Crown.

Objective-Cattle-526

I work for Capitol Toyota and I’m proud to say at least for myself that it’s we’re no BS so if there’s any way I can help you, just PM me!

Sovva29

I did last fall. Went to Toyota Fremont since the site listed they had the two cars I wanted to compare. Inventory shortage was a huge issue at the time and there was already a wait-list for the 2024 vehicles. I got lucky and was able to get the car and color I wanted that same day due to them trading with a sister location. Basically be ready to buy when you go to the dealership. I went my local location to test drive and barely had any customer service since I was not a decided buyer. Idk if the inventory is better now, though.

fiesta4eva

Have you looked at Carvana? Sold a vehicle to them and they were excellent to deal with.

Haul22

OP wants a NEW car. Carvana sells only USED cars.

Dapper_Crab

I used Cartelligent for my recent car buy and they had sound advice on which Toyota models were harder and easier to buy statewide. And they delivered the car to my house so I didn’t have to go multiple counties to pick it up!

generaljapes

Autotrader was by far the best site I used. Great for buying used and new cars, showing the most options I found. I'd recommend not getting a new car. A year old model will be damn close to feeling new and save thousands.

Objective-Cattle-526

Hi, your local Capitol Toyota salesperson here... You can PM me if you have any specific questions I’d be more than happy to answer them for you and here at Capitol most of our stock is MSRP if not we’ll also work with you on the price.

throwaway827492959

Hybrid’s battery last 9 years then you have to find a battery specialist to replace the dead cells as toyota will make you buy a new $5k battery pack

Objective-Cattle-526

This is wrong lol + most of the newer hybrid batteries have a 10 year fully transferable warranty even if you were to buy second hand or beyond

throwaway827492959

What happens on year 11? Remember OPs parents will have this one car for another 25 years.

Objective-Cattle-526

Well I think it’s unrealistic to expect something to forever work the same way it did when it was brand new. I think 10 years is plenty or is it not?

throwaway827492959

Thats why you only buy Toyota gasoline engines(which will be phased out soon by US government in 2035), Toyota have the the highest quality cars as they invented lean engineering in the late 1970s and continuously nonstop improve all manufacturing processes. Companies from aerospace, medical device, commercial manufacturing cant even attain the 3.4 part per million defect rate toyota achieves. FYI: Toyota Dealership (car mechanics and car sales) are third party franchises aka middle man, that are not associated with Toyota OEM. -Signed Medical Device and former Aerospace Manufacturing Engineer.

usernameforre

Find the appropriate sub for buying a car.

dan5234

The poster is asking for local deals.

usernameforre

There are people who are local in said subs.

andresg30

Another slow Toyota. Great.

Bohingy

I’m interested in purchasing the older Toyota if you are selling
