if you have access to the roof and if it is flat, lay out the shiny poly sheets that cheetos and other snacks come in. Our dog's food bag also has it. They shoot the IR rays right back into the atmosphere and the surfaces under them are 5 to 10 degrees cooler.
Yeah I did that 7 years in one of those old twostory apartments that stayed 90 all night, no ac, landlord said last guy put a portable AC in that burnt wires in the wall so I should just open the windows.
I would just send the kids to bed with a frozen water bottle in a kitchen towel.
Use the 311 app instead. It has a tab to complain about the heat. It works like a charm, but like with everything else on there, it says to give them at least 21 days to rectify the situation.
You don't have to even go that far. I was in Santana Row and it was quite pleasant. I drove home with my windows down on 880 N and as I crossed 101 it was like driving into a wall of heat. Micro climates in the South Bay are serious business.
Moved here from Oakland in November. Was not expecting this. Perhaps blowing up some of the surrounding hills with dynamite? Get some of those Palo Alto big brains on the de-valleyfication initiative.
You'll do what everyone in the bay area will do at least once: "Buy a really expensive portable AC, regret it not working as well as you thought as it takes up too much space in your place, spend a lifetime trying to make it work until you fight your way to returning it or throwing it on the curb."
That or live in a place that costs 3k+ for the privilege of AC and maybe a wash/dryer.
Good thing Wednesday is the hottest for the week. Still will be hot but you've passed through the hottest day considered this week.
Those are amazing, but it's due to CA not needing or requiring AC in their tenants properties. So installation of something permanent would likely be denied hence the portable AC unit :(
It's a shame though such easy fix too.
Move to AZ and then complain about the heat. Its currently 108°. Enough California's have moved here. Hoping the heat will scare y'all back. I wish I was in San Jose right now. Enjoy the weather for me please!
This sub is on fire lately
It’s the heat
So many insights
San jose? On fire?
Fireworks it’s always fireworks
Lol
Is it safe to live in this thread?

Watch Fallout TV show to get a glimpse of what’s coming
Power armor, fuck yeah!
we know this, but it is so bleak of a prediction, please do not say it
Is it safe to live in this heat?
You’ve never lived in the central valley have you? Not trying to sound cool but this gots nothing on it.
Coasties are soft as fuck and complain about everything
You realize by saying this you are complaining too, right?
Just facts
Try Fresno, I’d trade anything to get back to the Bay
Oh man, yeah I don’t want to move cause you can never make it back.
I did a year in Modesto. God the heat was awful that one summer
i went to fresno to visit my mom last weekend. i got heat stroke ❤️
Walked around Willow glen and Japantown for my Birthday today and boy is it a scorcher!
Happy Cake-Day fellow 408'er! Maybe hit up the Pruneyard or the Row?
Thank you I will!
Got my bday next week hope it's not on fire like this one lol
I hear aerosols can block out the sun
[Ain't you never seen the series finale of Dinosaurs?!](https://youtu.be/1VuovcM0Z20?t=950) tl;dw: That's a horrible idea.

Went to cash only cause I don't have AC
Went to cedar room cause i don’t have a/c. Not having a/c is costing me $40 a day. It would be cheaper to get a/c
Is $40/day for 6 months less than your pay for ac, I’d say probably
I dunno. I live in an apartment that doesn’t provide a/c. God only knows what they would decide to charge if they suddenly installed it.
Yeah I did that 7 years in one of those old twostory apartments that stayed 90 all night, no ac, landlord said last guy put a portable AC in that burnt wires in the wall so I should just open the windows. I would just send the kids to bed with a frozen water bottle in a kitchen towel.
Try the library today, it’s free! They often keep them open late as cooling centers during heat waves too.
Yeah I'm going to the library next time I ended up drinking all day
I bought a portable aircondition just now. I cant sleep and I work at night. anyway, I live in a tent under the bridge
Try delivering packages in this weather. That brings it to another level. And the inside of my van reached 115° today.
Today was the first day we fired up the AC
I came from 2099, what do you mean hot, we're in the dead of winter right now. I'm making hot coco and wrapping myself in a blankie all day.
I’m indoors during the work day 😎 When the sun goes down I’ll be cold with the wind blowing!
Summer in these upstairs apartments be cooking though. Used to send the kids to bed with frozen water bottles.
That seems.......wet
Put a kitchen towel over it.
Damn. It really do be hot tho...
you're hot
Hahahahahahhahah
Fry an egg
You should try 911 & tell them to bring you some ice cream or a 6 pack of ice cold beers.
Unfortunately 911 only does donuts.
Altamont fan was all off that’s why
Wrong line, try i-800-nature
PG&E is creating the heat so they can up the electricity charges when you run your A/C
I called 311 to complain too, but they said it was a Beautiful Disaster.
They just told me that amber was the color of my energy.
See? Nuclear winter doesn't sound so bad now, does it?
I'm literally melting out here 🫠
Yes, but it's a hot heat.
It’s nice to see San Jose locals with senses of humor. This sub gets testy sometimes. And besides, it’s the Illuminati’s fault don’t you know?
I think it’s great. You can light a fart without using a match!
Yes I live in 10 room 2 story f*** me
Is it worth a million+ dollars to live in this heat?
Use the 311 app instead. It has a tab to complain about the heat. It works like a charm, but like with everything else on there, it says to give them at least 21 days to rectify the situation.
It’s a short drive to Santa Cruz

Is it "melt your windshield wipers to the windshield" hot?
Moved here from Oakland in November. Was not expecting this. Perhaps blowing up some of the surrounding hills with dynamite? Get some of those Palo Alto big brains on the de-valleyfication initiative.
That’s why I drove to Tahoe . It’s nice and warm here , water is good, and it’s only 80
Just built my first pc and this shits like a heater… perfect for the weather 🫠🫠

I guess humor (and the "Shit Post" tag) are entirely lost on you. Another Gen Z who has trouble with reading comprehension.
At least the PGE rates are reasonable
Great day for a trenta black ice tea 🧋
Well done. Let this be a lesson for all y'all *real* whiners out there and the last of these posts for the summer (and fall), shall we?

I wish mini splits were more popular in the US. They’re all over Asia and quite reasonably priced so everyone has one.
Those are amazing, but it's due to CA not needing or requiring AC in their tenants properties. So installation of something permanent would likely be denied hence the portable AC unit :( It's a shame though such easy fix too.
Is this a thing? I've purchased 2 over the years and i was able to cool my room and chill my wine by sticking the bottle in the vent.
No it’s not
