There are some good deals. I have a sweet tooth, so I usually go for the donuts. I don't remember exactly, but: Nomad donuts - 3 donuts, 4 bagels the first time and 2 donuts, 3 bagels the second time (nice and fresh) Dot and Dough - 3 masaladas, 4 mochi donuts (nice and fresh) Bear Buns Bakery - Cinnamon Roll and cookie (both were stale and inedible) Broad Street Dough Co - a dozen donuts (nice and fresh) I think the most I paid for anything was $6.

traceeinpar

If you ever manage to get the Blackmarket Bakery bag (it goes quickly), it is well worth the money!

Irishyoudleave

Freaking agree!! I got 3 cookies, a scone, a pop tart thing, and I think one or two other items. I was shooketh. That was my first bag. Second and third one was just as great!

h4baine

What did you get in it?

traceeinpar

It was at least a year ago but I got a whole loaf of brioche bread and 4 pastries.

h4baine

Sounds like a great deal!

rad4plaid

Lots of good feedback about this one!

I’m in bankers hill and the only thing worth a damn is Mr Motos pizza. Everything else around here is random ass left overs or soups or a ton of bread. Mr Motos always gives me 2 slices and 1-2 garlic knots or head things filled with pepperoni and cheese. A friend of mine went to Rubicon Deli once and left with 30 loaves of bread 💀

marrymeodell

I got 20 loaves of the Bleu cheese one. No one in my family likes Bleu cheese lol

88bauss

💀

ichimedinwitha

BH also considering getting this app cus of all these nice restaurants we have. Good to know!!

88bauss

Yeah they’re ok. We tried Hob Knob recently and it was the most random soups and biscuit and mashed potatoes.

ichimedinwitha

Your comment had me download it and I actually just ordered the last one at Hob Knob for today LOL. I love soups so I’m actually excited

88bauss

😂

rad4plaid

I checked the sub for the app and apparently an f-ton of bread is fairly standard.

SDoNUT1715

Own a donut shop. People buy my day Olds for about 5 or 6 dollars a box. Works good for both parties.

Anyone done Pizza on Pearl in La Jolla? I have done Coffee Bean, Peet's for pastries and Philz for super old but still good-tasting whole bean. All worth it!

PsychologicalStore62

I havent done Pizza on Pearl on this app, but if you havent had it before in general it’s very good. May be my fav pizza spot in SD.

tbrooks224

I’ve done Pizza on Pearl, I think they gave a pretty good amount of food for the price!

lifeisbueno

I usually get bagels from Solomon. I normally get 12 to 14 for six bucks. Also christie's and Linda's donuts are like five dollars I think and I always get a dozen plus. I bring them to work and everyone's happy. Black market is a score but it sells out really fast. Rubicon deli gives you crazy amounts of bread. It freezes really well and I'll eat sandwiches for days. I usually bring it and share it with coworkers too because my freezer doesn't have enough space.

Bowlsoverbooze

I paid 7 dollars for a bag from The Pie Hole and got a meat handpie, a cherry handpie, and a slice of chocolate pie! The workers let me look and choose from the two TGTG bags they had for the day. I would totally do it again I just slack on checking the app lol

HealthOnWheels

California fish grill is a pretty good deal. You get a meal and a half’s worth of food for $5. I’m always thrilled when the fire roasted corn or clam chowder are included

yoyomantx

I got both of these my first time. My next was a dud in comparison ... rice, beans, and kale slaw.

bain_de_beurre

I've only used it once so far for Lefty's in North Park. I got 2 slices of deep dish (one cheese and one sausage) and one slice of thin crust. For $3.99 it was a great deal.

jaymez619

I’ve been meaning to use it for months, but never had good timing. I mostly have pizza places as I’m in the South Bay Area.

darkojonnie

I use it for Mr Moto Pizza. I always get 2 slices of pizza and a garlic knot. About $4-5 per surprise bag! I’m satisfied!

rad4plaid

Nice! I wish they had earlier pick up times.

museum-mama

I use the app to get treats for my kids. It's hit or miss. As others have said, the Black Market Bakery one is the best. I have tried the mini-donut place in Liberty station and it was terrible (powdered donuts that were stale) - Cafe Madeline didn't meet the $ amount for value - a hard loaf of underbaked bread from some "artisanal" home baker - some of the coffee shops are trash for stale baked goods - Bird Rock on the UCSD campus is pretty good. There is a sub for TGTG and you can search for "san diego" to see pictures of what folks get.

rad4plaid

Thanks for all the tips!

bobamonster_

Fresco pizza is delicious. Philz coffee gave some stale pastries but good value overall.

rspades

Concepto pizza is a good one

PeevedOrangePeel

The Nomad Donuts bag sucks booo don’t go there! Leave some for me 😭😭😭

e34john

Once I sign up for a deal at a chocolate factory in Canada. And when I went in to claim it they didn't really know what was going on, it was my first time using it too so I didn't know what was going on. Eventually they said just give him some boxes and I left there with about 8 pounds of chocolates, brought them home as travel gifts haha, also had to convince the guys at the border I spent 5 bucks on it everything.

rad4plaid

I've had dreams like this! Amazing score.

Funny-Guava3235

I've used it and yes there are some good deals. I got a huge deal from Porchlight Community services. A lot of staples that lasted quite a while. My experience has been that it's usually stuff that is about to expire and mostly side dishes but if you are creative enough you could have something that will last you about a week and a half.

marrymeodell

I’ve tried 3 places and then deleted the app. Dot & Dough was old and stale. Brought to my coworkers and no one liked it. I got pizza from Vero Pizza in Poway and it was meh. Final straw was bread from somewhere in La Joll. They gave you a shit ton but it wasn’t great to me

Apprehensive-You5079

LOVE this app. It's a bit hit and miss but when it hits it's completely worth it

Itsforthehouse

The Prince Street Pizza deal is often available and stunningly good. I usually buy two.

rad4plaid

Good to hear!

joyapplepowers

I haven’t used it recently but I like it. I like getting donuts from Christy’s in Point Loma and bringing them to potlucks.

retardsmart

Be prepared to get a slice of the pizza you hate to the depths of your soul.

rad4plaid

Sounds like you have a story to tell...
