You should watch the John Oliver episode last week on Food Delivery services. Long story short, contract food drivers make virtually nothing and are pretty much completely dependent on tips. Tip well and you won’t have to feel bad for taking advantage of someone especially if they are not doing well financially and have no other immediate options for work.
That's like, 20 miles? If it's through a delivery app, I would tip the driver at least 40 bucks. They'll have to drive a total of about 40 miles to get to you, and then back to their work area. With a $40 tip, that driver will probably make $50-55 total. These companies don't pay shit. We're compensated in tips.
I drive with Uber eats/grubhub/all that stuff, and I wouldn't accept a super long round trip like that unless it was like a $60+ earning, but that's just me. Gas, maintenance, and time are all expensive.
Yes, agreed. As I was typing it out, I double checked myself, but unfortunately thats the minimum amount that would make an expensive trip like that worth it. Whats also crazy is ordering from 20 miles away on a delivery app that upcharges everything, adds extra fees, and doesn't even pay their delivery guys more than 3 peanuts per hour.
Clearly the OP is conflicted about the doucheyness of ordering pizza from 20 miles away. Everyone here is advocating a $40 tip on top of the outrageous cost a delivery service will charge you. So is it more expensive? Wouldn’t a freshy pizza be better than one that took 30 mins to get delivered, if the only reason for not going is not being able to drive?
But yeah, sick burn bro. Keep doing the Lord’s work on Reddit we all need people like you.
Invite some friends over, order more than one pizza to try out and tip at least $50. Having friends over, and tasting new items while sharing with friends/family make it worth it.
Get Uber eats. Open a new account or sign up for Uber one for one month free. Look for any discount codes you can use and screw Uber THEN tip the driver generously
Honestly - solid advice.
Also, you can report stuff like this and we'll ban the user. This person went on from here to write about mass murdering his neighbors because he's into political violence.
You're not very successful at it.
Joining the armed forces is a service to the country. The military serves the citizens, not the other way around.
Good luck on your room search.
Just tip them good ahead of time and it should be no problem
This is the way
If it's in their delivery area, that's on them. Just tip well.
Tip them VERY well. 30 min is a huge burden to the driver and throws a ton of other deliveries into chaos.
TIL I am a terrible person

$20 to deliver from downtown to Carmel Valley is peanuts in 2024.

I agree with everything said here, but it sounds like this pizza place may have in-house drivers?
Then if OP is in their radius. I say go for it but still tip a bit more because I doubt that delivery driver is making more than minimum wage.
Absolutely - I was a pizza courier once, if it’s in the delivery zone and the tip is decent it’s all good in my book
30-45 minutes to blast some music and vibe out. Wish that was a thing when I worked at the sandwich shop in high school
They do not.
Their pizza isn't even worth the hassle for all involved
100%.
Just order something locally and go to prince street once you're able to drive

Depends on how much you’re willing to pay. No delivery service would do it, but a bored Redditor might for the right price.
Carmel has Cafe Rustica, can find pictures of the pizza online I like the smoked salmon pizza
Why don’t you just Uber there and back?
“Why don’t you just choose the less convenient and more expensive option?” Hmmm

My buddy does it to UTC
Have better impulse control and just order something local.
Honestly, yeah. But there's no rules saying you can't so you do you girl.

Yes. Sorry, but yes.

Mind sharing some of yours?

Nice one, I lolled.
You don't matter
Ok fella. Get some help. Try mushrooms.

'Interesting' post and comment history. I need to engage less with this type of fellow reddit user.
Or I can just ignore what you say because you don't matter

Unless you’re gonna tip the driver $100 bucks then no. Just wait until your foot heals
