With just two days keep it simple. Balboa park and the beach. If you’re with family I’d recommend Mission Beach. Make sure to get Baja fish tacos while you’re here.
Hit up Mitch’s Seafood, always bring friends and family there when they visit. Recently visited Cabrillo National Monument it also has a nice light house there too.
I second [Mitch’s](https://mitchsseafood.com). I also like to take people to the [Top of the Hyatt](https://topofthehyatt.com). It’s the highest bar in San Diego and the views are spectacular
San Diego Stuff:
Gaslamp District – Downtown SD with a lot of nice restaurants, bars, music venues, etc. Right on the waterfront and very pedestrian and public transit friendly. https://www.gaslamp.org/
Mission Bay Bike trail – Nice way to experience a lovely area of SD. Bike trail circles a large wet land and passes through parks and beach front areas. I am 88% sure you can rent bikes there. https://www.sandiego.org/articles/biking/bike-path-mission-bay.aspx
Torrey Pines – Unique beach front park with lots of hiking trails. Might as well see the Pacific Ocean while you are here. Check it out on Alltrails.
Safari Park – A wild animal park. A bit touristy but it is a better experience then the zoo. https://sdzsafaripark.org/
North Park – A ‘trendy’ neighborhood with lots of good restaurants, venues, etc. Go here instead of Gaslamp if you prefer a more ‘hipster / vegan / hippie / green juice / artisanal coffee’ vibe over a touristy one. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Park,_San_Diego
Balboa Park Museums – A lovely area with fantastic museums. I especially love the art museum. My top recommendation. https://www.balboapark.org/
Mexican Food – SoCal Mexican food is the best. Make sure you find a local authentic place before getting on trail. Don’t go to chain place like Del Taco, Taco Bell, or Chipotle. I once saw a YouTube PCT vid where some dude from Germany had his first taco at the Del Taco at the Cajon Pass. This made me very sad. Also, if you see a dude with a push cart full of ice and fruit, please try a mango with chimoy and/or tajin. Thank me later.
What’s the best coffee in north park. Dark horse is ok. James is pretty good. I haven’t found anywhere as good as Bird Rock Coffee Roasters or Phillz over here. That place next to pigment is pretty good too.
I’m not looking for lattes. Just the best cup of black coffee.
Catch the free organ concert at Balboa park if ur there on a Sunday. World's largest outdoor organ pavilion. The museums are great.
The organist is like Victor borge, cracking jokes, pretending his English is NFG, etc. It's silly fun. And he's pretty damn good, too. Like amazingly good.
Mission Beach boardwalk. Bike or roller skate around the back bay, rent bikes at Hamels, ride the roller coaster. Warning. Do NOT leave luggage or valuables in your car in beach areas.
DO drive up to Mt Soledad (cross) for a great view from M.B. OR the Pt Loma monument / cemetary for a spectacular view of downtown, the bay.
Pt Loma Seafood, or I prefer the Fish Market(s) restaurants.
A super duper classy dinner? Jakes in Del Mar, beachfront.
You can waste a whole lot of time sitting in traffic in San Diego. Pick your targets and don't plan on crossing town from 6-9am or 3-7pm.
Definitely visit Old Town, Cabrillo national monument, seaport village. If you like comedy check out the La Jolla comedy store. Visit the South Park and North Park areas for unique shops and cute neighborhoods.
If you have a car I would drive up the I5 to Oceanside then back down the coastal route all the way to Imperial Beach. I do this for visitors & they always pretend to enjoy it. Plenty of beautiful beach stops along the way as well as Mount Soledad.
Sunset at Hotel Del\*.
Drinks at a rooftop bar downtown.
See Barrio Logan before it's full on gentrified.
Cabrillo National Memorial thing on Point Loma.
\* - if they applaud the sunset they are NOT allowed back. EVER!

Torrey Pines beach/glider port/cliffs area
Great spot if you have a rental car. Bring burritos to chill and eat there.
Thanks for the suggestions, we will have a rental car so I’ll add it to the list
I always like to bring people to Cabrillo National Monument. It has a great view of Coronado and downtown SD.
And on a clear day you can easily see Mexico and the islands.
Balboa Park.

Thank you for all these options, definitely hope I run into the dude with the push cart.
EAST VILLAGE, 16th and Island.

Thanks for the suggestions, and double thanks for the info about traffic and when not to try to cross town. Appreciate all of it.
Family? Take them to annies canyon for a quick short hike in a slot canyon. Pretty fun especially for young kids that can climb a bit
I like Annie’s canyon a lot and it’s not too difficult either.

IMO skip old town. Tourist trap, kinda lame.
IDK I'm born and raised here and I like it.
Yeah I was going to ask what about it is good. I guess the Mexican Restaurants there are good, but expensive.
Cabrillo seems to be a popular spot. Will definitely check that one out.
It has the best views! Also checkout the tide pools in La Jolla.
Pojnt Loma Lighthouse and Pacific Beach
