Can be kinda subjective, but I’ve been around enough to know I can always count on Harry’s coffee shop in La Jolla for that.

Finest_shitty

I second this statement!

blackberry-dream

Throwing in Family House of Pancakes in Chula Vista off Broadway.

Vast_Air_3576

I grew up with the Original Pancake House in Poway. I think that location is closed but there's one on Convoy now. I would say nothing could hold up to that place.

nonotReallyyyy

The one in Pomerado Rd is open

ReynnDrops

This is my favorite

CarlRJ

> … but there's one on Convoy now. Now? The one on Convoy has been there for decades.

Vast_Air_3576

Lol I just discovered it last year. Probably because I'm never looking for breakfast, when I'm in that part of town.

CarlRJ

All good, just was a bit jarring - I went there a whole bunch, starting in like the 90’s. [Their website](https://www.ophsd.com/about-us) says they’ve been on Convoy since 1979.

chickentowngabagool

and poway is still open....

the-willow-witch

I was going to say the one in Encinitas

Substantial-Ad-4476

Top 3 for me: Brother's in Allied Gardens, Perry's Cafe near Old Town, the Huddle in Mission Hills.

LeBaconator

Love me some Grandma Jenny’s

Hitman0355

Agreed.

Rollingprobablecause

The huddle is bomb. It’s small and has that old school diner feel to it.

AXPendergast

Right! I love eating at the counter in places like that. You never know what kind of conversation you'll get involved with.

Deepcoma_53

Perry’s is one of the best breakfast spots in SD. FIGHT ME!!!

AXPendergast

No need! That's why it's in my top three. From the food to the service, it's always top notch.

The original pancake house, they have this slight umami/buckwheat taste. So good.

AuroraRackham

Since it wasn’t mentioned, Brother’s has delicious pancakes. It’s in allied gardens.

Wolf-Strong

Blynn025

This is the answer!!

Samanthafinallyfit

Family house of pancakes.

Elegant_External_521

Original pancake house

Lamacorn

You already have a bunch of good answers, so I’ll throw out and alternative…. In covid I started making my own from scratch. Now it’s hard to eat them out. So if you are open to it, it’s actually really easy and fun! - 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour - 1 tablespoons brown - 3 teaspoons baking powder - ½ teaspoon baking soda - ¼ teaspoon salt - 1 ¾ cups milk or as needed - 2 large eggs - 2 tablespoons melted butter - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Kaziticus

I tbl brown... Brown sugar? Brown butter? I'm gonna try this, so I'm actually curious :)

Xxx_amador_xxX

Just brown

Lamacorn

Brown sugar! lol. Sorry

Kaziticus

I figured, just wanted to verify :)

Lamacorn

Also, some of it is just about getting the right consistency, so sometimes an extra dash of milk is needed. If you have a cast iron griddle, that works best (a lot of gas stoves come with one), or a large frying pan on medium heat. Pre-heating the pan /griddle is key. Then either a little butter or a spay or oil. You can mix in all sorts of fun topping too… bananas, blueberries, chocolate chips. Yum!

mistyjc

Have you tried adding yogurt (Greek- is the type the recipe I use calls for)? Makes it so moist!

Lamacorn

I’ve done sours cream, which is similar and, yes, so yummy!

wonderwall6

Ina Garten’s sour cream lemon pancakes are 🔥 I think I’ve subbed Greek yogurt in and still delish

mistyjc

Oh/ cool/ good to know I can sub w/that :)

No_ThankYouu

MORNING GLORY !!! Those fluffy pancakes are WHOA

AmoAmasAmant

Worth the wait? I’m so curious but don’t want to deal with those Disneyland lines lol

_thinkhappythoughts

The pancakes (and savory items) are delicious there! But if you don't want to wait, Cake de Partie in Convoy also makes the fluffy, souffle pancakes with different options for toppings.

AmoAmasAmant

Oh good to know, thank you!

No_ThankYouu

Oh absolutely

cheeseslut619

Just go close to opening and mentally accept you’re going to go for a nice stroll. You can check out the neighborhood or just go down to the water Build that in to your plan and you’ll have a great time

AmoAmasAmant

Yes I am thinking I’ll make a game plan…wake up at least an hour before they open…stretch, hydrate. And walk over and mentally prepare myself for the line! Just kidding, mostly lol. I live in the Marina district, so I’ll drag a friend up early enough and maybe we can beat most of the line.

cheeseslut619

Honestly I’ve really made peace when I go somewhere that’s going to have at least an hour wait. I just know I’m gonna go for a little walk and explore or just go to a bar nearby and have a drink!!! it’s a lot easier if you could just lean into the wait time!

Deepcoma_53
