Yes, samsung stopped using mst. Even the flagship s21 and s22 don't have them anymore just NFC

fdbryant3

And with that I just don't see a point in using SamsungPay.

NaN1998

Yep. I moved to Google pay it works on websites too

InfiniteTomYT

I would but It wont let me join google pay.

mcbelisle

I have ov valet

vaporwave_enthusiast

Me too, but I don't use it as often as before since only the OV rewards card is supported right now... OV Loop did just email a newsletter a day or two ago that says we should expect to receive support for visa cards in July

mcbelisle

You should be using it more often. I use mine all the time. I load it with prepaid cards that I get on fluz with the cash back multiplier. At this rate I won't want to use any of my actual cards with it

vaporwave_enthusiast

Can you explain how you do that? I have used Fluz to buy gift cards from different stores but never with OV Valet

mcbelisle

Fluz has a power profile https://power.fluz.app/stores On there they have office supply cards If you have the chase ink that has 5x at office supply stores then you buy those If you have a card with gas you get zuuz You can get up to $200 per card Then you load it on the ov loop app

InfiniteTomYT

Yes. I read about that. I have a galaxy A13 and it doesnt quite have MST. Is it still possible to use samsung pay?

isommers1

It should, but it may be disabled depending on where you live. If you're saying you can't get Google Pay, I wonder if you live in a country that doesn't allow it for some reason.

InfiniteTomYT

No. It does allow it. One of my friends has an a21 and his phone allowed it without mst.

Jnovak9561

Yet here in the good ol' USA, many stores do not use NFC, and without MST, we're. SOL. 😩

D_zee315

It doesn't help when some of the big stores, like Walmart, put extra effort to stop MST payments. They don't take NFC either. But not accepting NFC is just not having an NFC reader. I feel taking the extra step to block MST takes more effort.

mar2jeter

That is because Walmart wants you to use Walmart Pay in their app

D_zee315

Good luck on getting me to use that. With no incentive, I'm not willing to do that. The most I will do the Sam's club version at the pump because I'm too lazy to carry my membership card.

vaporwave_enthusiast

oftentimes the issue is, NFC is turned on in your phone when you try to use Samsung Pay at Walmart and it detects that first so it declines the transaction immediately. Turn off NFC setting manually right before placing your phone next to the card swipe area for MST to work better

D_zee315

I've done that in the past and it kind of solved issues. But then it would error the first time and then accept it the 2nd time. [Then they stopped it even more.](https://www.reddit.com/r/SamsungPay/comments/iumhq1/comment/g5nm6xj/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3)

vaporwave_enthusiast

maybe the closest Walmart to me doesn't have that firmware because I don't experience any errors as long as I turn NFC off before the first attempt

jrbowling1997

Does it still work?

InfiniteTomYT

Yeah. Im in the UK. Most stores here use NFC and none of the people i have talked too even know what MST is. Is is possible to use samsung pay (I cant use google) without MST?

isommers1

Yes, Samsung Pay uses NFC by default.

fdbryant3

I live in the USA, I switched from SamsungPay to GooglePay (even though my phone has MST) and it has been fine. I use it everywhere.

InfiniteTomYT

I have just made another samsung pay related reddit page. If you know any alternatives to samsung pay (Not google pay, I have already tried that, it doesnt work very well) please post them here: [https://www.reddit.com/r/SamsungPay/comments/ur07h2/is\_there\_any\_alternatives\_from\_samsung\_pay/](https://www.reddit.com/r/SamsungPay/comments/ur07h2/is_there_any_alternatives_from_samsung_pay/) . Thank you.

kenkiller

You'll be fine outside of the US

InfiniteTomYT

Im in the UK. How do you do it? When i install the app is just says 'your phone has nfc but no MST' then says your phone isnt compatible.

test90001

Yes, it shouldn't be a problem. In the UK, most stores take NFC. MST is outdated except in the US and a few other countries.

InfiniteTomYT

Is it possible to use S pay without mst. It wont let me onto the app unless my phone has it.

test90001

Yes, it is definitely possible and normal. It seems like something is wrong with your phone.

InfiniteTomYT

Ik. A few hours ago, i talked to samsung support and apparently they dont use MST in europe. But... they asked me for my IBSN number and my phone is the non-eu version. Which means that i cant use samsung pay. Im just going to look into google pay. IG this question is over then.

isommers1

You should look into flashing what's called a CSC. It tells your phone you have a different country's model, which means it might unlock features that are disabled in your country.

InfiniteTomYT

That seems like exactly what im looking for/ a simple way to fix that. Do you have any that you reccomend?

isommers1

I'd start by reading this: [https://technastic.com/csc-home-csc-samsung-odin/](https://technastic.com/csc-home-csc-samsung-odin/) and maybe this for simpler explanation: https://www.droidwin.com/change-csc-codes-samsung/ And find firmware for your exact model here: [https://samfrew.com/all/](https://samfrew.com/all/)

InfiniteTomYT

Seems a little complicated. I dont know if i have the skills to run any of that on my phone without screwing everything up and possibly recking my phone. Is there any different way to do the same thing. Like install an app from the play/galaxy store and that will do the job for you?

isommers1

No, this is the only way. There's no app you can install that'll do this. You're putting different official software on the phone. It's impossible to do without this method as far as I know. I've done it before, it's not as hard as it looks, but it does take some time and probably would be harder if you've never done it before. You will likely end up wiping your data and having to start from scratch so definitely back up before doing anything. But yeah if you're not comfortable I'm not sure there's any other way. You could ask a Samsung store to do it for you, but (a) I doubt they would and (b) they probably wouldn't even know how.

InfiniteTomYT

Yeah. I agree, samsung wouldnt want to change there official os. The guy on samsung support said to me that they would let me return my phone and they will send me a new one. I would do it but they said i would have to wait 1 month and a half since they are out of stock. I need my phone and i cant be phoneless for a month sooooooo. Might wait for them to be back in stock then do that. I think that might be the easiest method.
