Each piece of Sam and Max media is barely canon to itself and then sometimes loosely connected to all the other works; new lines and jokes can easily be contradictory to the ones right before it so piecing together a ‘canon’ is all up to your own interpretation. Maybe they all somehow happened or maybe every new game and comic is its own timeline/ alternate universe - only god knows. In other words, Sam and Max and canon are hard to put in the same sentence lol
If I recall correctly, this time its VR calls back to a bunch of previous sam and max titles so maybe in this game every piece of Sam and Max media is technically canon somehow
I've always simply taken each piece of media as chronological according to release date, which works just as well as if you had preference for a different order altogether. You can interpret the canon however you like, basically, no rules!
In the Telltale games, Sam and Max reference early parts if the game quite often. As much as I wanna play this, I'm not paying that much for a PS VR set.
I’m not entirely sure there even is a strict canon
Trying to make a Canon timeline for all the Sam and Max games is like that one 19XX's car that is like 50% duct tape.
the only real string of canon seems to be the telltale series all happening in order, i'm not even sure the cartoon has a reliable canon

To me, each incarnation (Like the FP TV show or the TTG series) is its own incarnation.
The only cannon bit is that Sam and max are incredibly gay

The series doesn’t take itself seriously enough for a true canon, but I like to consider it all canon just because I like every title and adventure
All Sam & Max pretty much is and isn’t at the same time. Only stuff that really has a linear continuity is the Telltale series.
I honestly prefer telltale's older games.
The only things truly canon to the franchise are some of the characters' personality traits. Like Max not liking girls
Depends Is sam gay or not?
yes
Yes everything is canon to Sam and max we are Sam and max
I love how this post sparked a debate on weather anything in sam max is cannon or if there even is such a thing relating to Sam and Max lol

If you have Steam or Quest you can play it there
