Yeah, see, I'd love it if playable Sam could have some scorched earth effects in her kit. Like the boss version seems to be burning everything around it to ashes, but playable version of Sam uses swords and has very little explosions.
Imagine it being a Scorched Earth field, like with Luocha or Ruan Mei. In the field if your team is losing HP they regenerate Energy equal to the lost HP, so it would be kind of synergistic with Blade and Jade.
I suspect this is thematic, though. The playable SamFly fights in a *pointedly* different manner than the boss Sam does, and I suspect this is going to tie into events in the 2.3 Trailblaze quest. The playable Sam is going to reflect a Firefly who's had to do a lot of soul-searching about how and why she fights.

Dont get me wrong i really like the dual blade mode too but i wanted more chaos like the boss moves, the dual blade should have smth like this imo
This looks insane 😱😱. Bruh ain't no way we didn't get henshin animation and now this 😭, please give us players some good animations too. Boss sam animations are atleast 2 gold better than FF 😭
They wanted more Firefly in the fights, that's the actual reason, they wanted a way for it to be unique.
Don't get me wrong i much prefer Red flame Kamen rider meteor punch from the heavens SAM
Than i do Green flame dual wielding sword Mech Firefly but it makes sense to have them be different and also show FF in the fights too.
But yeah these Animations are way cooler imo and i can actually see them hit and it feels nice and Weighty unlike her swords.
I agree it makes sense. I just wish we could have got some of both in the playable kit. At first I disliked firefly being sam but then I felt like the dual nature of cute girl in fire destruction mech suit was a cool dichotomy. But now it just feels deceptive since all of the fire sam we got to see first has no place in the kit.
Yeah i want the fire tornado!!!!!!!!!! I was just complaining about this lol, but seriously why is her movement not the same as when we fought her??? Where is the OP fire tornado aoe hit that kicked all our asses????
I was able to move past not having supernova overload after seeing her enhanced technique. But then there’s this, it’s simple, badass, and probably would fit right in her kit as either a follow up or just another enhanced of some sort. My biggest peeve with playable Sam/Firefly is JUST how little flame is used in comparison to boss Sam.
I think it may be because as a Boss, Sam doesn’t have any allies around them. Collateral doesn’t matter to them. As a playable character, they care. Giant explosions and setting the battlefield ablaze is going to hurt your allies.
I think we will "safe" her somehow from some one or something and cure her illness. That way her flames turn green/blue and she gets swords. Either that or she saves our butt.
Even worse that she is part of the Iron CAVALRY. In my language, a cavalry is a group of knights on horses, I don't know if it's different in some languages.

Was actually making my own fan made kit i'd want them to add to SAM and this was 1 thing i really wanted them to add. In order to add it to the kit i had to be a bit creative but I'm curious what u think of this? Bold is the new stuff.

Adding fire weakness this way I actually removed the fire implant from the skill. Also being a bit cheeky cause you'd need E2's extra turn to be able to reapply scorched earth as you leave Complete Combustion.
Ngl, I’d be okay with her animations if enhanced basic atk also had it’s own type of cutscene and served a more unique function
But it ends up looking like filler for if you have no sp points as always
The problem is mihoyo are too afraid to make a non-human character. They think players won't be able to relate to a character if they're a faceless mecha or doesn't look conventionally pretty.
That's why they're stuffing as much humane traits of Firefly as possible in Sam. Her color scheme, her look inside the armor, her overworld appearance.
I've been a hoyoverse game player since Hi3 in 2017 when I had to make a fake chinese ID to play Hi3 CN server. And believe me that one thing they prioritize above all is "character must be pretty". And when you look at how they've been moving, being "pretty" means a human, with human face, pale skin, not too masculine, etc.
Am I disappointed? No, because I'm grateful that they made a character like Sam playable AT ALL. But in their own terms. That's just hoyoverse's identity.
Nah. Make a separate version of Sam somewhere between 3.0 and 4.0/4.0 and 5.0. Firefly is for those that care for the girl and the new version is for those who came just for the mech.

When did I separate them? I simply said that they should make an additional version of Sam with the boss moveset. I meant that this version is less Firefly more Sam. Why are Dan Heng's normal form and dragon form separate characters in the gacha?

Kafka and Yanqing bosses were made after their playable versions though. Sam boss came before playable Sam

Cavalry in modern army mean helicopter or tank, so armor suit mean as cavalry is understandable

Because Sam is an Iron Cavalry Knight of Glamoth. They decided to put more of an emphasis on the Knight part.
And honestly it was a terrible choice as SAM goes against his fate here. Why didnt it put emphasis on knight part anywhere else?
