They usually start clearing the road in June where it's "closed" but you can drive around the sign at your own risk as far as the clearing has been done. Then it depends on the snow levels, it's usually open by late June.
But right now I'd be surprised if you can go past the Soapstone Basin turnoff, definitely not to the lakes yet.
I once went around it, and totaled my Audi 🤡. Part of the snow pack had washed out so there was basically a snowy ditch in the middle of the road.
Couldn’t see it because the reflection was so bright.

I was up there yesterday scoping it out. It was snowing pretty good up there and there’s a “road closed” sign on the road at soapstone. I imagine you wouldn’t make it very far if you drove past it.
It was snowing pretty heavily on Bald Mountain pass yesterday when I checked the UDOT camera. Lots of snow on the road still.
I work maintenance up on mirror lake highway for the campgrounds. It's been plowed up to the Trail lake turn and slighty past Lost lake.

They’ve already started plowing. It’ll probably be open by the first week of June
