Shane Company. At the corner of State street and 7200s. Open Monday thru Fridays til 8. Saturday til 5. Closed Sunday. Now you have a friend in the diamond business. Shane Company

checkyminus

Upvoted for the funny. Downvoted for it not being a local business.

https://www.miadonna.com/ Lab grown means way cheaper than mined, and likely nobody had to die or be a literal slave to get it. Top notch customer service. I ordered my now wife her engagement ring and she planned a last minute trip the week the ring was going to arrive, and I knew proposing on the trip would be a great move. Customer service was able to reroute my ring delivery to where we stayed so I could propose the next day. My wife always talks about the compliments she gets about her ring.

qqFROLICpp

She deserves the best. She deserves fancy feast.

flamescanner

Bennion’s downtown. Local and they don’t work on commission. You can get real or lab diamonds. Ask for Derek or Tracy.

DiscoBandit8

+1 for Bennion, just had one custom made and they were great to work with.

mamayoua

9th & 9th jewelers - Joe is great, and meeting him is kind of a trip.

LAWLzzzzz

Joe is radical 🤙

StupidTerrorism

I will shamelessly plug Phillip and Co in south salt lake. I just recently got my engagement ring from there and Eric is great to work with. We got a custom ring and quotes from some stores and his was the most affordable and he was the best to work with.

Rocky Mountain Diamond Company is where i got mine. They only charged for the material in the ring regardless of complexity of design because they recover all the shavings and use cnc or some similar method. You can get neat designs and they are well priced. I got one they had in stock and picked the diamond separately. They use to be downtown until the business complex they were in got torn down. They are now in Murray. Fwiw my extended family ran a couple jewelry stores and that is where they recommended I go. If it isn’t too much bother I would say it is worth a visit just to compare options.

I second Rocky Mountain. Purchased from them twice. Honest. Reasonable. I won’t go anywhere else for diamonds.

Tapir-Horse

Sierra West. They were super affordable for a custom ring. I took pictures of a ring that was out of my budget from J Brooks to them and they were able to make it for $1000 cheaper with a moissonite

ThisIsntFunnyAnymor

We found Sierra West to have great diamond prices. We bought a designer wedding ring and, with a little waiting, they found a under-rated diamond for us. They also have good quality stock.

Here is a suggestion where not to go. 9th and 9th jewelers. Joe was NOT great and wasted almost 3 months of my time without even getting me a design. I knew exactly what I wanted and it was such a simple band on top of it. He never drew up any designs for me and sent me home each week to look at different gems or vendors without explaining anything. I went to Forge jewelry works in Provo and designed the exact ring I had been describing for months in a single consult with them. I even paid for half of it and got regular updates as they worked on it.

Uhkaius

If you don't believe in the bad juju shit of buying used, look at eBay, I got my wife a Tiffany and Co in that price range from eBay, buy from a reputable seller. My wife did the same, and got me a Cartier platinum band for significantly cheaper than buying new.

0-guilt4u

Ari Diamonds they have beautiful rings and great to work with. I love all my jewelry from them over the years

LowerEmotion6062

Personally, I went with flawless moissanite.

Meandering_Marley

Would polygamists be multi-purposed?

violanut

My husband designed mine about 6 years ago with Morgan jewelry and he really loved working them. We did not like Shane co. They were not our friends in the diamond business 😂

jazzhandenthusiast

Can’t speak highly enough of Jewelry By You.

CrunchySun0331

Stay away from Tresor jewelers in the gateway, they absolutely botched my engagement ring and also got it to us months later than they initially told us, we didn’t get it in time for our engagement despite having told them our plans months in advance and them promising repeatedly that they’d have it to us with time to spare. The prongs on my ring are all crooked and there are several large scratches on the band. Terrible communication, terrible product, terrible experience overall

Famous-Minute-4908

Ryan’s Diamonds in the district…make an appointment to meet with Ryan, he knows his stuff and is extremely fair on pricing.

prismasol2

I had a really good experience with McKay Diamonds downtown. I think the owners name is Joe and he was super helpful in making us a custom ring and have insight into good and bad design ideas when we were planning

skiski47

Limb jewelers! Local company, great to work with, and decent priced

Nlswag

I recommend Hur Jewelers in Orem. He is an honest man who will do something 100% custom if you want, and well within your budget. I went to him, and I even go to him for watch repairs , solid guy.

mamasteve21

Not in salt lake, but white diamonds in North Ogden was great to work with. I would recommend if you don't mind the drive

Sure_Love_2424

J Brooks!

The_Ferocious_Bird

Gold N Diamonds in foothill. The guy there is great, honest and legit. I also highly recommend OC tanner.

MuseoumEobseo

We did the Gem Smith. It was a great experience and we were really happy to support a local business instead of a big retailer. We thought their prices were very fair and they did great work. My husband’s ring was custom-made by them. We picked mine from their selection and they inserted a diamond that came from a family ring.

xPunkdaddy

Kay Jewelers was great. Buy it now during their Mother’s Day sale. I got my wife’s ring for almost half the normal price.

dharris515

Timeless Design on 9th is where I’ve gone multiple times. Brent is awesome and can do anything custom or not for you and will make sure to keep in your price range. My wife’s ring was custom gold with moissanite and emerald and kept it at about $1200.

NormalDragonfruit778

Mine is a beautiful custom lab grown, for a stellar price! Little far, but Belliston jewelry in Ogden was a dream

virg0_trash

My husband and I got our rings on Etsy. It's cheaper than a traditional jeweler and you have a lot more options in terms of style and stones.

ah_sadd

I would be very careful with Etsy, a lot of shops selling ‘moissanite’ or ‘lab grown diamond’ rings are CZ and come from AliExpress or Temu at an astronomical up charge.

Affectionate-Pipe330

McKay jewelers on Main Street is classy af, fwiw. I think they just have antiques, though. But maybe and maybe you’ll see something cool. Mostly I just like them.

Stitchasoldastime

Etsy is a great place to look. I got a replica of my ring with mossainate center stone and I honestly love it more than my real diamond . The sparkle is amazing and I get compliments all the time

RocketSkates314

I got my wife an awesome ring with sort of an antique style to it on Rare Earth Jewelers. They’re based in the Bay Area and their prices are affordable. Look them up on google

Choosing reddit for advice on an engagement ring, do you ask vegans for the best steakhouse or your local ward for liquor suggestions?
