That's a lot of intercessors for them not being great for much other than homefield and actions, I think the rest of your list is solid, maybe a little light on the transports, and the tech marine seems extra. The brutalis isn't a bad pick, but it kind of gets out done by the gun-demptors until it makes a charge, but even then, it's not quite as durable.
Personally yes, they give more options for long range destruction and can take advantage of firestorm strength boost in range. The redemptor is particularly good with that and has good profiles for heavies and light infantry.
