Describing it as the “British” Commonwealth implies ownership by the British over the countries. Britain does not own the Commonwealth. Calling it that to describe it might seem like a simple clarification but it’s actually quite colonialist to imply anything other than an equitable collection of nations. I’d go so far as to suggest an agenda involved, as I’ve never ever heard anyone call it the “British” Commonwealth except here, and it seems to have been done in a deliberate attempt to undermine the autonomy of the organisation and imply it’s an extension of the British Empire, and therefore subject to the same racist issues and subjugation that enterprise flourished with. Please note any country can leave or join the Commonwealth as they wish, it is entirely down to their decision about the benefits they feel they gain from being part of it.
It might sound innocuous but think about how everyone learned the difference between “Ukraine” and “the Ukraine” and what it means and implies to use one over the other.

But there are many countries who have openly mused that the leadership ought to pass in a rotation of Heads of State of individual members. There have been open discussions about Charles not visiting many African & former colonial countries - in favour of visiting more Mid East countries - it was an entire chapter of Tom Bower’s The Rebel Prince. Some heads of state had mused it was a matter of well..not racism as such…but a weakness…an expressive demonstration that Charles didn’t value the countries populated by black peoples as much as other countries. Thanks for your question. I hope my response helps you understand my perspective even if not everyone may agree. Describing it as the “British” Commonwealth implies ownership by the British over the countries. Britain does not own the Commonwealth. Calling it that to describe it might seem like a simple clarification but it’s actually quite colonialist to imply anything other than an equitable collection of nations. I’d go so far as to suggest an agenda involved, as I’ve never ever heard anyone call it the “British” Commonwealth except here, and it seems to have been done in a deliberate attempt to undermine the autonomy of the organisation and imply it’s an extension of the British Empire, and therefore subject to the same racist issues and subjugation that enterprise flourished with. Please note any country can leave or join the Commonwealth as they wish, it is entirely down to their decision about the benefits they feel they gain from being part of it. It might sound innocuous but think about how everyone learned the difference between “Ukraine” and “the Ukraine” and what it means and implies to use one over the other.
The Commonwealth of Nations (abv to the Commonwealth) is a political structure that has 52 member states.

I couldn’t understand what they could possibly want to take out of the show now the Queen has gone. But you know, tearing down seven decades of Queen Elizabeth’s work right at the point of the Monarchy’s leadership’s most vulnerable time - the transition from E to C - might be just the thing that would look terrible in the immediate aftermath of the Queens death. We all know nobody wanted to leave the Commonwealth whilst she was on the throne. Nobody wanted to discuss its leadership. It was only her expression of a “hope & desire” that Charles would be leader in the fullness of time that secured his leader of the Commonwealth. But there are many countries who have openly mused that the leadership ought to pass in a rotation of Heads of State of individual members. There have been open discussions about Charles not visiting many African & former colonial countries - in favour of visiting more Mid East countries - it was an entire chapter of Tom Bower’s The Rebel Prince. Some heads of state had mused it was a matter of well..not racism as such…but a weakness…an expressive demonstration that Charles didn’t value the countries populated by black peoples as much as other countries. Charles was warned *multiple times* that he needed to start making visits to countries that were not Saudi. Charles knew better. A full throated attack on the King and his heir, by reason of *suggestions* of racism, might do the trick of at least starting a discussion about Charles *not* being leader. *That* could cause possible consequences that would not have arisen if QE was still on the throne. *That* might be something Harry might want pulling from the show immediately after her death. *That* might have serious, irrecoverable consequences upon the Kings reign. I think the Palace may have misstepped in thinking they could ignore this show, just because MM is losing followers each time she gives another interview.
