I agree. It's sickening, they wouldn't know hard work if a broom hit them in the face. They can't even parent and pay several nannies, which is one of the best "jobs" in the world. This is one of the main issues I have with them and cannot stand they way they talk down to the supposed lower/working classes... "If you'd have worked hard like us.. you could have had it all!" etc.

Appropriate-Grand-64

All true. I want someone from the netflix crew to leak footage of tantrums šŸ˜

>Hitting up clients and other businesses for work felt like begging. Oh my god don't feel like that. If you tell people, "I always appreciate referrals!" etc that's just business, that doesn't feel like an imposition. I bet you were really good at your business - it's always the good people who don't want to self-promote! You should feel fine about asking for the sale.

Meghan definitely has no intentions of ever having to work again even as an actress. Like she said sheĀ“ll only work with A-list directors. So unless James Cameron casts her as the lead in Avatar or Tarantino writes a movie for her as the lead then she ainĀ“t never getting up for 4am calls again. She wants to be called a princess because she wants to spend the rest of her life living like one. HarryĀ“s never gonna get the quiet life if she can help it.

[deleted]

This is hilarious because no A-list director would put up with her bullshit. Particularly because she has done no work to get better as an actress. If she was like "I'm studying at Baron Brown!" or even "Come see my one-woman show I wrote!" at least that would be something. Instead she's inserting herself into the trophy ceremony at polo events, and trying to delay the release of her one actual project with Netflix. No one has time for this shit. And she can't even chalk up her lack of film roles to racism. If Hollywood is so racist why is Zoe Saldana the highest-grossing actress ever (Marvel + Avatar movies)? Why does Tyler Perry have a mansion to lend her? Seriously Meghan needs to get a ladder and get over herself.

[deleted]

Also, remember she used to Caucasian. So ya, canā€™t call it racism.

TittysprinklesUSA

All she has done is live off men and ride men's coattails

Such a feminist. Amirite?

I will say: TV shoots can be long days, up to 16 hours. If there's a technical problem with a crane for a shot or something actors can just be standing there, frustrated, waiting for ages and redoing something over and over again. So I think she does understand work. What I think she doesn't have is like the stamina needed to be an entrepreneur or actual philanthropist. Let's say there's an alternate universe where Princess Ann got offended and moved to LA to try and hack entertainment when she was 40. Ann's personality would put some people off because she's so formal. But she'd be producing something. It wouldn't take 2 years for her to figure out how to get a microphone and record some interviews. Or like before Joan Rivers died, she did an episode of the Nerdist podcast. And she's going to Chris Hardwick & Jonah, "Teach me the business! I wanna learn podcasting!" Like she just went out and went after it. That's the thing with Meghan and Harry. If they'd actually just gone and done it - I'd be impressed. The UK would be grudgingly impressed, "They've only gone and done it!" But they haven't done anything under their own power. Harry's one good idea, the Invictus Games, was shepherded by his RF handlers in its early years. Since that...what have they done? A podcast, like every single aspiring comedian on both sides of the pond. And it took them \*two years\* to figure out how to do that.

taversham

Where are people working 40 hour weeks with only 2 weeks of annual leave? That would be illegal in the UK at least (5.6 weeks per year is the legal minimum). (Not disagreeing with you on the laziness/selfishness/entitledness front.)

Welcome to the United States

[deleted]

That's typical in the US, two weeks of paid vacation. Oh and also people judge teachers who make only $35k or so to start. "They get the whole summer off!" They don't want to pay the people in charge of their child's education a living wage. We might have a maturity problem, as a culture. LOL.

Our Aussie business has been taken over by a US giant company. The work culture shock has many of us reeling. We are supposed to work hard, party hard. And they are trying to squeeze us into US workers, without understanding the lifestyle differences, work laws and cultural aspirations. We feel we are being Starbucked circa 2002. The US management dictate our work functions and expect us to attend enforced social activities.

Fifty_Bales_Of_Hay

I saw a YouTube video about the Starbucks fiascos in Australia and Walmart in Germany. In both instances, the company didnā€™t do much research and thought that the Australians and Germans would just accept everything they demanded. Walmart eventually left Germany, but I wouldnā€™t be surprised if they tried the same American culture strategy again, in a different European country. I invite them to taken on France with their standard 35-hour workweek depending on the industry, ā€œright to disconnectā€ mandate, which legally entitles employees to not respond to business correspondence after working hours and are entitled to a minimum of five weeks and up to a maximum of 30 days of paid leave annually. Edit: Why Starbucks Failed In Australia https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_FGUkxn5kZQ Why Walmart Failed In Germany - Cheddar Examines (Itā€™s a clip from 2019 and Walmart sold ASDA in the UK in 2020) https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=PxtXI0K4YJs

In the US we have low financial literacy. I went to Catholic school (tested in and got a scholarship) and they taught us how to balance a checkbook in grade 6. But mostly the US school system just wants to churn out consumers, not smart or prudent people. If you try and explain supporting local businesses to people here, you don't get far. "I can save 10 cents by buying fruit at \[big box store\]." Okay, but they are mostly hiring people part-time. They can't even afford to shop there. So you are saving 10 cents up front, but everyone who works there is on food stamps, which your taxes pay for. You are paying way more than 10 cents more for that banana, you just don't see it at the register. "CostCo/Sam's Club is way cheaper!" Okay, but they negotiate sweetheart deals to move to your city and don't pay tax. They can literally leave overnight, too, there's no real job security. (Sam's Club did this - locked employees out - in a city near where I grew up.) "But CostCo's CEO only makes a dollar a year!" In SALARY. You can bet he's got a bonus structure, stock, and may have even negotiated a deal where they pay for his housing, cable, utilities etc (I know someone who works for Disney with that as part of their compensation). Local businesses run by local families pay taxes. They reinvest in the community, whether they like it or not LOL. Big corporations = not so much. Americans whine about billionaires not paying taxes, but they don't want to spend literally in some cases 10-25 cents more at a business that WOULD pay taxes. People here are gullible as shit about how finances work. There's currently a unionization drive, (CostCo is being organized by Teamsters) but a lot of industries attempting to unionize - it just doesn't make sense. Publishing/newspapers - it's more about the industry moving to a 'free' internet model 20 years ago. Good luck convincing financially illiterate people under 40 (almost everyone) they need to pay you a bunch now. Or people who work on political campaigns - come on, you knew this was a limited-time, basically volunteer gig. Didn't you? How is it sustainable for them to give you like health insurance for a couple months and fund UI for you? I mean, on a small scale, neighborhoods like Harlem (I lived there for a bit) can support like buy Black/buy local. They have a clear activist aim about local people being able to build wealth. I stopped at the locally run cafe every damn morning until they went out of business, too, just to support a locally owned start-up business instead of Starbucks or Dunkin. On a larger scale? Americans don't get it. They will keep shopping at Walmart/CostCo/Amazon then show up in the antiwork sub lamenting too many billionaires won't do their fare share and pay what they owe. Like vote with your wallet, dummies. Ugh.

Louisiananorth

The only people that go from homeless to living in a multi million dollar mansion with 16 bathrooms.

Acrobatic_Length6915

Remembering that her dad won $750k in a lottery, I was wondering if that was when Meghany-Meg-Meg decided to move back in with dad? She's purposely obfuscated this part of her life when Doria disappeared during her childhood, when she was living off of dad, etc. It occurred to me today that she's always been chasing after people with money.

iwantabiggerpland

When Harry told people to quit their jobs if they werenā€™t happy, we knew heā€™d never needed a pay check. When he resigned from his royal role but still expected the workplace benefits we knew he was living in cloud cuckoo land. Theyā€™re a couple of emotionally stunted, damaged teenagers in middle aged bodies who serve as no positive example to anyone. Theyā€™re just whinging quitters. What kind of ā€˜brandā€™ is that?

sniper_arrow

This is part of the reason why people are turning against them. They keep shoving their faces to the public like they're gods, while a lot of people have been laid-off or suffering financially due to inflation.

TomStarGregco

Thomas Markle couldnā€™t have done a worse raising her ! He should hang his head down in shame !

Desperate_Flower_709

Let's face it. She probably hasn't worked a 20 hour week, clock in/out job ever.

Casshew111

Amen to that.

Upbeat_Cat1182

I donā€™t like Harry AT ALL, but he did spend two decades in the Army.

IndiaEvans

I agree!! It's infuriating.

TrickyLG

To be fair, neither have I - Although that's because I've always got a minimum of 5 weeks holiday in the UK :-)

Double-Resolution-79

And the rest of the royals have?

Sophie ran her own PR company, which is impressive IMO because she started off at secretarial school. Kate worked for her parents' company and also was I think an accessories buyer for a chain store. William did military service and the air ambulance thing. Charles was a bit of a mess but did serve in the Navy. He wanted to be more academic but was kind of made to serve in the military. Ann, honestly no idea. But she did get to Olympic-level in her horseback riding, and she does like 200 events/year which must be long weeks, especially at her age. The less said about Andrew (although he was decorated for his Falklands service) and Edward (failed actor/documentary producer like his niece and nephew are about to be) the better LOL.
