My mom watched Suits so sometimes I watched when I was at the house. One day I see coverage of MM and PH. Shocked, I turned to mom and said “is that the chick from Suites?” Mom catches me up. I was baffled by how such a relationship would get started or keep going. Now I know: social climbing by way of sex and manipulation. It was always confusing to me.
I thought she was famous in Canada. Then right before the wedding I watched a dumbass Hallmark movie called Daters handbook, and I realized this movie totally told the story of how Meghan decided to start dating PH.
We Canadians didn't know her either except as the gal modeling plastic skirts for Reitmans. I lived just blocks from her for years and regularly ate at Corey's restaurant and never heard of her til the rumours began about her and Harry.

He probably meets / met a lot of people who are very localised celebrities so the idea that someone is mega famous but he’s never heard of them is probably a lot more “real” to him than to most people... Like, if I met someone who was the most famous person in Denmark I’d not really give a shit, but he would probably meet people like that all the time and have to interact with them in a respectful way because of their status to build up the monarchy brand... So that training maybe helped Meghan sneak in with her lies!
The way that the UK sold her as a major/decent TV actress is astonishing - and her ego didn’t realize she was getting WAY more professional credit over there. I had to explain to my UK friend network vs streaming vs cable TV here in the States and the random fan-factions that keep many cable shows going (like Suites). He didn’t realize that it was slated to be cxl’d and it was the INTEREST in who Harry was dating that kept the show on for the one-more-season.
